Chapter 287
“Well, what’s happening isn’t easy to deal with,” Deborah said with a frown. “Alright, sweetie, it’s your brother’s turn now,” she said, gently shifting her little girl to burp her.
“But we’re here to support Dad,” she said, wiping the little girl’s mouth, who smiled at her.
“Okay, ma’am, time to switch,” Danielle said as they swapped the babies so Michael could have his turn at breastfeeding.
About 30 minutes later, the voices of Elizabeth and James could be heard as they returned from their outing
“Bye–bye, Grandpa,” Elizabeth said.
“Bye, kids.”
“Have fun with Grandma,” James said, as Nicholas had only dropped them off at the door because he had to go pick up Tatiana for lunch.
After watching their grandpa leave, James and Elizabeth entered the house and immediately went to their siblings‘ room.
“Mommy,” Elizabeth said happily, but when she saw Deborah gesture for them to be quiet, both children smiled and quietly entered the room.
Deborah had just put the twins to sleep and was laying them in their crib.
“We’re back,” they whispered in unison as they approached the crib to see their siblings.
“Welcome home,” Deborah said, smiling at them while turning on the baby monitor to listen for the twins. She guided her kids out of the room. “How was it?”
“It was fun, and we bought them something.” Ellie said, showing the teddy bears they had picked out.
“How nice, I’m sure they’ll love them,” Deborah said, stroking her daughter’s hair. “You can give them to them when they wake up.”
“And Dad?” James asked worriedly when he saw only Danielle and Max around.
“He’s sleeping, and we’re not going to wake him because he’s really tired.”
“Is it because of what happened yesterday?” James asked with a frown.
“Yes, honey.”
“Hey, Mommy, what if we make something yummy for Daddy to cheer him up?” Elizabeth suggested.
“That sounds good. Let’s bake his favorite cookies,” Deborah said, noticing how excited the kids were at the idea.
“Yes!”
“Wait, Ellie, what about the twins?” James asked.
“We’ll take care of them,” Danielle said.
“And I have this,” Deborah said, showing them a walkie–talkie. “With and keep an eye on them.”
“Oh…”
hia we can listen to your siblings
With that, the kids left their gifts in the room and followed their mom to the kitchen to start baking cookies.
Just then, Deborah noticed all the employees approaching her cautiously while the kids put on their
aprons.
“Um… ma’am,” the butler said.
“Yes?”
“Can we
speak with you!
“Of course what’s going on?”
“It’s just that… we wanted to ask what’s going to happen to us. We’ve heard the company is having problems and…”
“Don’t worry. Things may be complicated at the company,” she began, “but here, nothing’s going to change because I need everyone’s support to keep things in order since I’ll be busy with the twins.”
“Yes, but…”
“I know what you’re worried about, and I can assure you that you’ll continue to receive your pay on time, and nothing will change at the mansion.”
Hearing her speak so confidently reassured them, as the lady of the house had never lied to them, and they felt her words were sincere.
With that, they apologized and returned to their duties.
Deborah smiled. Since she had handled the situation, she went to put on her apron to bake cookies with her kids while the chef and his cooks began preparing lunch.
The smell of food woke Jayden, who felt a bit sad, feeling he was failing everyone. They had notified the employees that this week would be their last because, with no sales or new projects, there was no way to keep the company open. The little money left was to give them their final payments.
They had even talked about selling everything they had gradually acquired to salvage some of the invested money, and it hurt him to see that everything he had planned to leave his children would now have to be sold to have enough to survive.
“Ah… I never thought I’d experience something like this,” Jayden said to himself as he stood up to go to the bathroom to wash his face. “It’s okay, you’ll find a way out of this, and soon everything will return to normal,” he told himself, looking in the mirror.
Just then, he heard the soft cries of the twins. He smiled and, after drying his face, went to see them, but he stopped abruptly when he saw Max and Deborah already attending to them.
Seeing this, he felt frustrated. Because of the company’s problems, he wasn’t spending time with his family he hadn’t even held his children yet.

“My love…”
Jayden saw that Deborah was beside him.
“Help me with them,” she said, handing Nicole to him, which made him start crying as he kissed his little girl’s forehead.
“Thank you,
love.”
Deborah smiled and hugged him before she turned to pick up Michael so they could spend a moment together as a family.
Seeing this prompted Deborah to make an important decision to help change her family’s luck.
