Chapter 254
Estrella eyed Jason coolly, taking her sweet time before responding, “Now you learn how to sweet-talk, where was this charm when I needed it?”
With that, she tossed the document bag back into his lap, “Take your stuff and get out of the car.”
Jason set the bag aside, then pulled out her wallet, extracting a few bills and saying nonchalantly, “This should cover me.”
Estrella scoffed, “Jason, seriously?”
Tucking the cash away, Jason inquired, “You seem upset?” He had noticed her sour mood as soon as she got into the car.
Estrella exhaled without a word, and Jason suggested, “Let’s grab some food. I’d like to talk about the fire incident too.”
Upon hearing Jason mention the fire seven years ago, Estrella gave him a look and started the car. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
Soon, they pulled up in front of a quaint garden bistro and made their way in together.
Once the waiter had poured them some ice water and left the private dining room, Jason said, “I had those videos examined by the expert you mentioned – no signs of tampering.” He paused, then added, “Maybe we should consider a medical check-up?”
If Estrella was truly behind the incident, she would remember, but her memory was blank. Jason felt it was time to approach this from a different angle.
He didn’t want to dredge up the past, hoping it would fade away, but he knew Estrella. Now that she did, she’d unearth the truth, especially since she had promised to help Serene.
Estrella flipped through the documents Jason passed her, her voice steady, “I’ve thought about that, been looking for the right doctor.”
“I’ve contacted a renowned professor,” Jason offered, “I’ll send his details later. If he checks out, I’ll have Drew set up a meeting.”
After reviewing the documents, Estrella looked up, “Thanks, Jason.”
He must have been quite frustrated holding onto that evidence of her setting the fire and being married to her. No wonder he was angry with her for so many years. Still, Estrella couldn’t forgive his silence, finding it unforgivable.
By eight o’clock, after dinner, Estrella was still downcast. In the passenger seat, Jason glanced over, “You got something on your mind?”
When Jason brought up her concerns, Estrella sighed, “Isaac’s been quiet again, eating

less. The doctor said it’s insecurity.”
When Estrella mentioned Isaac, Jason understood. For a mother, the child always comes first. Jason asked, “Ever thought Isaac might be missing a father figure?”
Estrella chuckled, “I’ll find someone eventually. If it weren’t for your and Bryce’s relation, I’d have asked Bryce to step in.”
“Trying to get a rise out of me?” Jason quipped…
Estrella shot him a cool glare, “If I wanted to get a rise out of you, I would’ve done it by
now.”
Jason reached over and ruffled her hair, deciding not to spar with her.
Come Saturday morning, as Estrella lazily answered Jason’s call, he was already at the Dorvold family gates, ready to take Estrella and Isaac out for some air.
Irritably, Estrella responded, “Jason, what are you doing so early? We’re busy, not happening.”
Jason retorted, “Estrella, it’s past ten. Time to wake up from your beauty sleep.” He had been waiting since eight but hadn’t called, assuming she was still asleep. Now it seemed like a good time.
As Isaac peeked into the bedroom, Estrella’s mood lifted instantly. She hung up and got ready.
At the gate, Estrella let Isaac choose whether to go with Jason. The eager nod from her child made the decision clear.
An hour later, at the department store, they headed straight to the kids’ playground on the top floor.
Bumper cars, carousel horses, a mini train – the games Estrella usually played with Isaac were now Jason’s territory. As Estrella watched them, a soft smile appeared on her face.
After a ride on the train, Estrella handed Jason a napkin while wiping Isaac’s sweat, “How’s your wound?”
“Worried?” Jason teased. Estrella shoved the tissue into his hand and didn’t bother with
him anymore.
Other parents around them watched enviously, whispering about how good-looking the family was.
When Isaac wanted to keep playing, Estrella promised more fun after a good lunch. Isaac vowed earnestly to eat well, and at the restaurant, Isaac even offered his little coin purse, slapping it down on the table with a proud thud.

Estrella and Jason glanced at each other as Isaac slammed a small pouch of money onto the table with a thud, instantly drawing their attention.
Estrella picked up the pouch with a curious smile and eyed Isaac, “Are you treating us to lunch?”
Isaac’s eyes were wide with enthusiasm as he nodded vigorously, “It’s on me.”
The generosity from someone so young tickled Estrella into a fit of giggles, and even Jason couldn’t help but crack a smile.
Isaac was surprisingly liberal with his spending, which hinted that he was in a particularly good mood today. This, in turn, lifted Estrella’s spirits.
But when Estrella loosened the drawstring and spilled the contents of Isaac’s pouch onto the table, her laughter died in her throat.
