I tightened the coat around myself and waited for Emma at the entrance of the Prescott’s at seven in the morning. “It’s so cold” I muttered, my lips trembling.
“Ma’am you can stay inside the lobby” One of the security suggested.
“No thank you. I’ll wait a little more” I smiled and turned my gaze back to the road.
Then I saw a five feet figure getting out of a taxi and approaching the entrance in a floral top and blue pants.
“Emma” I happily called and she waved at me.
“Good morning Hailey”
“Good morning Emma. Let’s get you registered shall we?” She nodded and we walked towards a table at the end of the lobby.Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
After my little break-in, the security in here had been tightened. Ian had asked for the security guards to be fired but Mr. Prescott who’s a good man unlike Ian, had transferred them to another Prescott’s apartment complex. The new guards we have now looked more like robots than humans. And it has been made compulsory to hand over a copy of all your documents starting from your birth certificate to your bank details. Then if the documents are proved to be legitimate the security will make you go through a finger print scan and a face recognition before entering you to the system. I know, they went extra thanks to me.
“There’s not enough money in your bank account” The woman behind the desk said to Emma. “So we will have to search you every evening before you left to see if you stole anything”
I scowled. “Do you have to go that far?”
“That’s the protocol Miss Evans”
“Fine fine whatever. Now register her quickly”
The woman shot me a glare but did as I told. After it was done we took the elevator and reached Ian’s penthouse.
I opened it’s door and Emma suddenly gasped.
“This is where I’ll be working?”
“Mmm” I nodded.
“It’s so beautiful” She ran straight to the glass window and stared at the city below in awe. “Is the view better at night?”
“Yeah much better” I smiled. It was a Saturday and neither Ian nor I will be going to work. So today was the perfect day for them to get to know each other.
Emma opened her mouth to ask another question but suddenly turned around as she heard footsteps descending down the staircase.
Ian came down barefoot in a black hoodie and black sweatpants, his phone dangling in his hands. Seeing Emma his pace slowed, a frown curling in his lips.
“Who are you?”
Emma’s eyes widened. “I-I’m Emma Nelson. The n-new housemaid” She stuttered and anxiously looked down.
Ian’s narrowed gaze fell on me but my eyes were fixed on his outfit. I mean, which billionaire gives the first impression in a hoodie and sweats? I scoffed. I should have told him to wear a suit. Ahh my first chapter ruined!
“Care to explain?” Ian asked pulling me out of my daze.
“What?”
He folded his arms across his chest and raised a brow.
“Oh the housemaid, ah yes. I asked you yesterday and you told me to do as I please”
Ian opened his mouth to argue but then closed it back, remembering what he said yesterday. His jaw tightened, his expression hardening and he shot me a glare before striding towards the couch and sitting on it.
“Umm” Emma cleared her throat. “Shall I make some breakfast?”
I wrenched my gaze away from Ian and looked at Emma. “Oh yeah sure. Some scrambled eggs with beacon perhaps and one cup of black coffee for him” I pointed in Ian’s direction and she stole a nervous glance at him.
He really frightened her, didn’t he?
“Yeah sure” Emma beamed and hurried to the kitchen.
I sautered to the couch and sat next to Ian who was brooding at the moment. “What’s wrong with you?”
“You never told me you would hire the woman you’re searching for me as our housemaid”
“I came up with it yesterday and isn’t it the perfect plan for both of you to have a good bonding time?”
Ian scoffed. “I don’t want any bonding time with that vile creature”
“Don’t call your future wife like that”
“I didn’t call my future wife like that” He gave me a pointed look.
I rolled my eyes. Not this again.
“I want her out” Ian demanded arrogantly, folding his arms across his chest.
“No please” I whined. “Give her a chance”
“Why would I give her a chance? I told you, there will be no woman in my life besides you”
I threw my head back and groaned. “I can’t with this man”
“Mr. Kingston” I glanced up as Emma spoke, standing a few feet away from us, holding a tray with a cup of coffee on it. “I brought your coffee”
Ian frowned and kept silent so I spoke instead of him. “Thank you Emma. Can you give it to him?”
Emma anxiously nodded and walked towards us but as she neared Ian, she stumbled on her steps and collapsed to the ground, the tray falling and the coffee spilling all over Ian’s clothes.
I gasped, my hands covering my mouth.
Ian jerked forward and looked down at his drenched clothes in anger, the hot coffee burning his skin. Emma started whimpering and she quickly scurried over to Ian and slipped her hand inside his hoodie, touching his stomach.
“What the fuck are you doing?” He pushed her away.
“Y-your skin is burnt”
“I will take care of that!” He barked angrily, rage coursing through his veins. “Clean this mess” He ordered and strode up the staircase to his room, slamming the door shut with a loud thud.
I winced at the sound and I gave Emma a look of pity as she cried, sitting on the floor but I was most worried about Ian. Is he okay?
I quickly sprinted up the staircase to my room and pulled out the first aid box. I took out an ointment and hurried over to Ian’s room, throwing the door open.
“Are you alright?” I barged in.
Ian stood in front of the dressing table shirtless, examining the red spot on the lower part of his stomach.
“Here. Apply this” I approached him and extended the ointment but he didn’t take it.
I sighed and scooped up some from the ointment and applied it on his stomach, rubbing on it gently with the palm of my hand.
“Does it still hurt?” I asked in worry but no response came.
I tilted my head to ask him again but instead found Ian staring down at me with a small smile playing on his lips, his eyes glinting with adoration.
His hand reached out and gently stroked my cheek. “You worry about me but still want me to be with another woman?”
My breath hitched and I quickly pulled back, blinking rapidly. “W-what?” I stammered. “W-why would I worry about you?” I laughed drily. “You’ve misunderstood”
Ian smirked. “Really?” Then he took a step forward and I hastily stepped back. “But I don’t think so” He strode forward until my back hit the wall, trapped in between his broad chest and the thick wall.
He leaned down, his warm breath fanning against my cheek causing tingling sensation in my tender skin. He tucked a loose strand behind my ear and slowly trailed his fingers down my neck to my collarbone, his gaze following. My skin burned at his touch, my face reddening. He gently brushed his knuckles across my collarbone inching a little lower my neckline and I swallowed, feeling my heart pound in both trepidation and pleasure.
His gaze lingered for a moment before he brought them back to my face. Seeing my flushed state, the corners of his mouth tugged up. He leaned closer, his lips brushing against my earlobe. “Why do you keep lying fiance?” He whispered in his husky voice. “Your face tells all” He circled his arm around my waist and slammed me against his chest. My breath hitched. “And so does your heartbeat” He smirked.
I was burning by now, intimidated by our close presence.
“What if I tell you that you can keep your housemaid even after the stunt she pulled?” Ian gently grasped my ear lobe with his teeth and my heart raced. “But it’ll be under one condition” He flicked his tongue over my ear and my eyes fluttered shut at the sensation he managed to build inside me. “Would you agree?” He asked in his husky tone.
I had gone numb against him and if it wasn’t for his arm around my waist I would’ve collapsed to the ground. Gathering up all my strength I spoke. “W-what condition?”
I could feel Ian’s smile against my skin.
“Sleep in my room”
