Chapter 423: Don't Put Feathers in Your Own Cap, Okay?
"Ms. Lily." Dressed in a white shirt and black pants, Baron looks exceptionally handsome. He really
doesn't seem like a 36-year-old man. He nods at Lily with a smile, "Long time no see."
When Lily sees that he seems to be with his client. So, she says directly, "It seems that you're busy, I'll
go first."
"This is not my client, just a friend." Baron explains and asks, "I heard that Ms. Lily has begun to work
in HS Company?"
"HS Company is a small company. I didn't expect you to know about it." Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
Baron smiles gently, "HS Company is small but you are famous, Ms. Lily. If you are not busy now, what
about going to my place? Since you work in HS Company now, you will need to look for investors for
HS Company. It is good for you to observe more and listen more."
Lily freezes for a moment. Then she replies, "Mr. Smollett, I have already resigned from the Smith
Group."
"I know." Baron says, "I invited you because you are the vice president of HS Company. I am a
businessman. I wouldn't miss a chance to make money. Also, I want to make more friends."
His words are quite reasonable and Lily really can't find any flaws.
Lily suddenly remembers that the Smollett Group has invested a large sum of money in a movie not
long ago, so she secretly thinks of the possibility for her to cooperate with the Smollett Group. After
thinking, she smiles faintly at Baron and says, "I hope you don't find me clumsy, Mr. Smollett."
"Don't be like this. You are too self-deprecating, Ms. Lily. I hope you don't find me rude."
The two of them exchange a few words and go to the private room together.
After stepping into the luxurious high-class private room, Lily finds that there are still a few men sitting
inside.
Those men are chatting at that time but when they see her and Baron comes, they can't help but
glance at them.
Baron greets those people one by one and finally introduces Lily to the group of people, "This is Lily.
She used to work with Mr. Smith but now she is the vice president of HS Company."
Then, Baron introduces this group of people to Lily.
Lily walks forward with a smile. She shakes hands with them one by one and greets them politely.
She notices that although the men are shaking hands with her with smiles, their eyes are filled with
arrogance and they still look down on her. It can be told that if Baron isn't here, they wouldn't look at
her at all.
Lily still smiles elegantly and doesn't take their attitudes to heart at all.
In the world of business, there are different groups of people. Bosses of the same level will play
together. She doesn't have her own company and isn't that famous. It is normal that these people
would look down on her.
After the greetings and the polite words, Lily wants to move to the side and sit down, but Baron points
to the seat beside him, "Ms. Lily, sit here so that you can hear us clearly."
"..."
Under Baron's repeated insistence, Lily has no choice but to sit over.
There are about ten men in the private room. She is the only woman and she is sitting in the middle.
She seems to be surrounded by those bosses. They are so imposing that they give people strong
pressure.
Lily has been working in the Smith Group for so long and she often goes out with Louis, so she has
already become at ease in any circumstances.
She smiles faintly, "Thank you, Mr. Smollett, for giving me this opportunity to increase my knowledge."
A wisp of surprise flashes through Baron's eyes. He secretly admires Lily for being more and more
strong and calm. When she first came to discuss business with him, she was still alarmed and
bewildered, but now, she is calm and relaxed.
If he were a few years younger, he may have chased after this woman.
Lily serves herself a glass of juice and drinks it leisurely. She sits there and listens to Baron chatting
with those men, their topics are ranging from family affairs to news and gossips to the stock market.
Those men do not put Lily in their eyes. Or, they are pretending that she doesn't exist at all. They just
talk about all kinds of things without scruples.
For example, a man says that he has three lovers in three foreign cities. He would spend some
holidays with his first lover, some with his second lover, and some with his third lover. Each time, he
has to pay attention not to wear the wrong ring.
Another man says that he becomes rich with the support from his wife's family, but he is not in love with
his wife. He is too tired of his wife and wants to find something against his wife. He wants to divorce her
and let her leave with no money. After that, he can marry a second wife.
Another example is a man who says that he only likes girls at the age of 20. That is girls' best age.
When he gets bored, he will pay the girl a sum of money and go find another one to prove that he is still
not old.
Gossips like this make Lily can't help but frown.
She knows that the upper-class circle is in a mess. After coming into contact with them, she finds that it
is worse than what others have said. No one knows that these people are so dirty under their bright
appearances.
She wonders whether these bigwigs are afraid that she would tell others about their private lives.
Sometimes, power is so terrifying.
They can do a lot of things.
When Lily is thinking nonsense, she hears someone calling her.
She raises her head and sees the man on the left staring at her and saying something, but she does
not hear him clearly.
Lily smiles politely, "Sorry, I didn't hear you clearly just now."
"I don't think it's interesting for you to drink fruit juice, Ms. Lily." The man says. He picks up the wine
bottle and serves Lily a full glass of wine.
Smelling the mellow and spicy smell of liquor, Lily glances at the bottle in the man's hand.
42 degrees, Moutai (A well-known brand of Chinese liquor).
"Sorry, I'm allergic to liquor. How about Lafite? I'll drink a few with you, Mr. Sawyer."
She wouldn't take risks for she still has three babies.
Baron is chatting with a few other men beside him. When hearing this, he turns his head and says,
"Allergy is quite troublesome. Maybe people will die of this. Let's give Ms. Lily some red wine."
"I've never heard of anyone being allergic to alcohol." Mr. Sawyer is very dissatisfied and he is still
even holding up the glass of white wine. "Ms. Lily, white wine is the best wine in our country. It is really
boring for you to only drink the juice."
"Sorry, I really..."
Mr. Sawyer interrupts Lily and says with a more serious tone, "Ms. Lily, do you treat me as your friend?"
"Mr. Sawyer, don't be like this." Baron looks at his watch and curls up his lips, "Since Ms. Lily really
can't drink white wine. What about I drink it for her?"
As he speaks, he wants to get the wine glass in Mr. Sawyer's hand.
Mr. Sawyer moves his arm back and jokes with Baron, "Mr. Smollett, it seems you're worried about Ms.
Lily, aren't you interested in her?"
Baron smiles and shakes his head, "How could that be? I'm just showing mercy to the beauty."
He has some interest in Lily but Lily already has a partner.
Besides, there was no need for him to fall out with Louis because of a woman. That is bad for his
future.
"That's good. I'm interested in Ms. Lily!" Mr. Sawyer says as he approaches Lily, "Since Ms. Lily doesn't
have a boyfriend, can I chase after you, Ms., Lily?"
Lily tries her best to retreat and she almost can't keep on smiling anymore, "Thank you, Mr. Sawyer, for
your love, but I don't need it."
"Ms. Lily, are you refusing me?" Mr. Sawyer looks up and down at Lily a few times and sneers, "The
rumors have it that you've dated Mr. Smith. Don't put feathers in your own cap, okay?
"..."
"I often eat with Mr. Smith. I know how he is. He definitely wouldn't like someone like you. It's because
we give Mr. Smollett some face that you can sit here today. Who do you think you are?"
Without waiting for Lily to reply, Mr. Sawyer continues to say, "How about this, Ms. Lily, you give me a
kiss to make me happy. If I'm happy, I'll drink this glass of white wine for you, otherwise, you will drink
this glass of white wine by yourself!"
