A Lifetime With You

A Lifetime With You Chapter 22

Chapter 22

The moment Damien said that, Karen and Ava were stunned.

The doctor quickly lowered his head and fled. “Damien, what do you mean?” Karen immediately asked. Damien didn’t say anything. He grabbed Ava’s arm and left, dragging her behind him. His movements were as rough as ever, and his strides were huge. Ava could barely keep up with him.

He only stopped walking after they got out of the hospital. Ava’s face and arms were covered with red marks after being slapped by Karen and held down by the bodyguards just now. Together with the injury Damien caused her in the car, her whole body was covered with wounds. Damien gave her a profound look. He said nothing, let go of her, and walked towards the parking lot. Ava quickly followed him. “What did you mean when you said that you’ve never touched her?” Damien didn’t answer her question. He walked over to his car and opened the door. Ava gritted her teeth and summoned her courage to stop him from getting into the car.

“Damien, can you clarify things? What on earth is going on?”

“Idiot.”

He sneered. He then shoved her away, entered the car, and sped off. Ava tried to chase after his car but failed. After thinking about it, she went back to the hospital. Before she could reach Beth’s ward, Selden held her back. “Selden? Why are you in the gynecology department?” “I’m here for you.” Selden had obviously come just to stop Ava after he heard about what happened.

“I have something to ask Beth.” “Wait a moment! I suggest you not to go there right now, or you might be hurt in the process.”

“What?” Ava was bewildered.

“Right now, Damien Radbury’s mother is raging at Beth. She had never liked you, and now that Beth is done for, she would probably let out her anger on you too.” It was obvious that Selden knew everything that was going on in the Radbury family. “Beth pretended to be pregnant, and she had bribed a few doctors in our hospital to play along with her. Now that she had been exposed by Damien Radbury, his domineering mother would definitely make a big scene. Let’s not get involved in this. Come on, let’s go out for a meal. It’s your treat!”

Selden tried to drag Ava away, but Ava wasn’t in the mood for a meal at all. She still couldn’t get over the fact that Beth had actually faked her pregnancy. . Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Did this mean that Damien had never touched Beth, and that everything was just a lie? Then, why didn’t Damien expose Beth earlier? Was it to protect her?

But he exposed her today.

Ava was so confused that her mind was a total mess. Could it be that… Could it be that he came to the hospital just to defend her just now? How was that even possible? “Selden, I have something to do, so I have to leave now!” She shoved away Selden’s hand and ran out of the hospital in a hurry.

A few minutes after Damien was home, Ava arrived too. She threw her arms open and stood in his way. “Damien, if you don’t make things clear today, don’t even think about…”

Damien stopped in his tracks. He was a lot taller than Ava, and he lowered his head to look at her. She raised her head and asked, “You knew that Beth was lying, but you still willingly played along with her. Why?” Could it be because he had feelings for Beth? But if that was the case, why did he expose her in front of everyone today? What on earth was going on?

“Damien, what are you trying to do? Is it fun to toy around with the members of the Nagel family like this?”

“Ava, if only you could learn to be a little smarter every now and then, things would have been a lot easier for me.” Damien sighed. “What… What do you mean?”

“This. Sign it.” Damien took out a folder from his briefcase, opened it, and put it in front of Ava. “What’s this?” Ava’s heart skipped a beat. She thought that Damien was handing her a divorce agreement. However, although it wasn’t a divorce agreement, there wasn’t much difference between the document in front of her and a divorce agreement. Ava glanced at it. It was a document that said that she would voluntarily relinquish all her shares in Radbury Group. “What do you mean by this?” “After signing this, you won’t have to go to the shareholders’ meeting tomorrow. It would only be an embarrassment.” She sneered. “Is it very embarrassing for you to have me at your company?” Damien didn’t say anything, and there was a noncommittal expression on his face. Ava read the clauses in the agreement carefully. All of them stated that in the future, she wouldn’t get a single cent from the Radbury family.

As expected, the Radbury family treated her like a thief. Her heart was already ice cold, anyway. This agreement didn’t make much difference. “So, you’re really divorcing me, aren’t you?” She lowered her gaze, picked up a pen, and put down her signature without the slightest hesitation. “Aren’t you even going to think about it?” Damien was a little surprised at how fast Ava agreed to sign it. He thought that she would make a big fuss or at least defend her rights. But right now, she looked like she couldn’t care less about it, and it made Damien a little frustrated. This woman obviously only married him because of the Radbury family’s wealth and power. What was with her holier-than-thou attitude right now? “Nothing from the Radbury family belongs to me to begin with. I’m not interested in your money at

all.”

She quickly finished signing the agreement. She then extended her hand. “Give it to me.” “What?” “The divorce agreement. I’ll sign it.” Ava gritted her teeth. For a fleeting moment, Damien’s expression changed. But he quickly plastered a cold expression over his face again. He took the agreement that Ava had signed, turned, and left.

Ava was stunned, and she became even more puzzled. “Damien, let’s get a divorce. I agree to a divorce,” she muttered underneath her breath. However, Damien left without turning back, let alone give her an answer.

The next day, Radbury Group’s shareholders’ meeting was held as plan. And Damien only returned home late at night. Ava thought that as usual, Damien wouldn’t come back. Hence, she went to sleep without waiting for him. She was awakened in the early hours of the morning, and when she turned around, the pungent scent of alcohol filled her nostrils.

He was drunk again. Throughout the two years of their marriage, he would never come home unless the servants carried him back when he was drunk. Most of the time, he would be spending the night with some random woman.

Ava moved aside to make room for him. The bed was big, but the moment Damien lay on the bed, he clung on to Ava. “Ava, you’re trying to run away, huh… In your dreams.” He was so drunk that he was muttering unintelligibly, and he wrapped his right arm so tightly around her waist that she couldn’t move at all.

She had no choice but to pry away his fingers one by one. This was when his cell phone screen lit up. Even though Ava didn’t do it intentionally, she saw what

was on the screen.

It was a text message.

“I had a really pleasant time with you today, Hopefully we’ll get to go on a date again in the future.”
