A Lifetime With You

A Lifetime With You Chapter 26

Chapter 26

Damien was startled. Ava didn’t continue speaking. “You plan to leave just like this?” he asked. “Isn’t it just what you want?” “After putting on an act for so many years, why would you stop suddenly?” Damien’s tone was — mocking

Ava raised her head and said with a smile: “Because I have already found my next husband.”

Ava only casually said that because she was indignant, but a trace of gloom flashed past Damien’s eyes. He was standing at the door and blocking Ava’s way. But now, he stood aside. Ava zipped her suitcase. The suitcase was extremely heavy, and it was difficult for her to carry it alone.

But she gritted her teeth and pushed it to the stairway.

Throughout her stay here, she went up and down the spiral staircase countless times every day. Right now, as she held the suitcase which felt as heavy as lead, her heart was heavy too. Karen and Selina were still downstairs. Ava could have asked a servant to carry the luggage for her, but for some reason, she tightened her grip on it and decided to carry it herself. “Hmph.” Karen snorted coldly. Selina looked up at Damien who was walking behind Ava. Damien merely watched Ava quietly. He didn’t step forward to help her.

Ava carried the suitcase down the stairs with difficulty. By the time she almost reached the ground floor, she was drenched in sweat. This was when she slipped and fell. Although there were only a few steps left, the fall was extremely painful: The suitcase also cracked, and some of the things inside fell out. She clutched her sore elbow and struggled to get up. Everyone looked at her, but no one came forward to help her. Ava suddenly came to a realization. Throughout her marriage to Damien, she had tried hard to be a good wife and please him. But at the end of the day, she was the only one who saw her own effort, and everyone just thought of her like an idiot.

“Stop pretending to look miserable. No one cares,” Karen mocked. Selina walked over and offered to help Ava put her things back into her suitcase. Before Ava could refuse, Damien said coldly, “Let her do it herself.”

She raised her head and looked into Damien’s eyes, which were as icy as ever. They had been married for two years, and he had always been so cold. Ava couldn’t remember any instance during their marriage where Damien would make her so happy

that she jumped with joy. But there were many times when Damien saddened her so much that she could only sit and do nothing. Finally, Ava was done putting everything back into the suitcase. She turned and left.

The next morning, the lawyer Ava appointed came to see Damien. She really did keep her word and had gotten everything prepared. “Mr. Radburry, you just need to put down your signature here.” Without even looking at the agreement, Damien asked coldly, “Where is she?”

The lawyer didn’t know the answer to this question. Hence, Damien refused to sign it. When she left yesterday, he did not stop her. It wasn’t really because she said that she had found her next husband. It was because she showed no reaction at all when she saw him and Selina standing together. That made him very angry. “Mr. Radburry, if you have any doubts about this divorce agreement…” Before the lawyer could finish speaking, Damien stood up and tore the divorce agreement into pieces.

“Go and bring her here,” he ordered his men.

However, his men couldn’t find Ava.

She wasn’t at her company or the Nagel family’s residence. She didn’t even go to her mother, Jessica Fuller’s, place.

Damien subconsciously thought that his mother must have sent Ava overseas to avoid any future trouble.

However, Karen called him and asked him if he had signed the divorce agreement. She didn’t sound like she knew that Ava had gone missing. If his mother didn’t do anything, why had Ava disappeared?

Never had Damien expected that Ava actually had not gone far at all. After leaving the Radbury family’s residence, she went to find her mother. Jessica threw a tantrum the moment she saw her daughter carrying a suitcase and found out that she had been driven out by the members of the Radbury family. “You are Damien’s rightful wife! And you agreed to a divorce just because of a scandal? Have you lost your mind?” After she said that, she grabbed her daughter by the hand, wanting to drag her back to the Radburry family’s residence. Ava stood rooted to the spot. “Mum, I don’t want to do this anymore.” “My dear daughter, are you stupid? By agreeing to a divorce just like that, you aren’t getting anything from them. The Radbury family is super wealthy, and I put in so much effort back then so that you could marry Damien. How could you divorce him just like that? No way! I don’t agree!” “Right now, you have no choice but to agree.” Ava flashed a bitter smile.

Although Jessica gave birth to a daughter for the Nagel family, at the end of the day, she was nothing but a woman Keenan had a one-night stand with. Keenan didn’t want the world to find out that he had cheated on his wife before, so he had never cared about Jessica. All along, she had survived on the money Ava gave her. Now that her daughter was divorcing Damien without getting a single cent, it meant that she would no longer be able to live on the Radburry family’s money. Of course she was furious. “You good-for-nothing! Without the Radbury family, how are the two of us going to survive in the future?” Jessica raised her hand, wanting to hit Ava. But in the end, she didn’t have the heart to do it and slapped the table forcefully instead. “Mum, all the money I have given you over the years is from my own salary. I’ve never taken any money from the Radbury family. Don’t worry. I can still afford to support you in the future.” “You can afford to support me? With what? With the salary you get from that shabby company of yours?” Jessica was so angry that she was almost losing her mind. “No way! Go

back to the Radburry family now. Right now!” After arguing for some time, Jessica drove Ava out of the house, wanting her to go back to the Radbury family and admit defeat.

But it wasn’t possible for her to go back. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Ava stood in front of her mother’s home for a long time. She had three homes: her mother’s home, the Nagel family’s residence, and the Radbury family’s residence. But none of these places . welcomed her.

She sighed. She had not rest well for the past few days, and there was a sense of suffocation in her chest. She leaned against the street lamp and retched a few times. “Tsk, tsk tsk. Ava Nagel, what a miserable sight you cut. The Radburry family drove you out, didn’t they? You’re such an embarrassment to the Nagel family.” A familiar and sarcastic voice rang out. Ava turned, and as expected, she saw Beth. Beth was good at kicking someone when she was down indeed. “I’m not the only one who’s an embarrassment to the Nagel family.” Ava said coldly. After she finished speaking, she suppressed the nausea in her chest, sidestepped Beth, and walked away.

“Where are you going?” Two men walked out from behind Beth and stood in Ava’s way. They were tall as well as burly, and they looked like gangsters. “Beth, what are you trying to do?” “I’m a vengeful person. Ava, you probably don’t know this, do you?” Beth smiled triumphantly. The two gangsters blindfolded Ava with a black cloth, tied her hands and feet, and shoved her into a van. Ava struggled with all her might, but it was useless. The car stopped after a while. Based on the humid air of the surroundings, Ava reckoned that she had been brought to a warehouse.

Beth ordered the two gangsters to drag Ava out of the car and press her down on a chair.

Immediately after that, she felt a sharp pain in her wrist. It seemed like her wrist had been slashed by a knife, and the pain was unendurable.
