Chapter 914: Mistake
She lay on the hospital bed, staring blankly at the white ceiling above her.
Ranita felt a bit dizzy. She had wanted some time alone to calm down, so why did she agree to Brendon’s request? She must be out of her mind!
“Ranita…” Jedidiah turned back to her, “Are you feeling any better?”
“Yes!” Ranita looked at Jedidiah with hopeful eyes, “I’m feeling better.”
Jedidiah reached out to touch her forehead, which was still burning hot. He sighed, “Better? You’re still very hot!”
“Get some more sleep,” Jedidiah suggested, knowing that Brendon had already visited. But seeing Ranita in such a pitiful state, he couldn’t bring himself to say anything harsh.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Jedidiah patted her hand, “Rest easy. I’ll take care of everything else.”
Meanwhile, in the parking lot, Brendon didn’t drive Shannon back to the hotel. Instead, he waited for someone to come pick her up.
Shannon felt very aggrieved. “Brendon, can I wait in the car? Cindy might be stuck in traffic…” Shannon was actually stalling for time; she hadn’t even informed Cindy to come pick her up.
Brendon looked at Shannon indifferently. “It’s fine, I’ve already arranged for someone.” As he finished speaking, a secretary assigned to assist Brendon hurried over, carrying a paper bag.
“Mr. Stuart, I’m sorry for being late. Here’s what you asked for.” Micah, sent by Caleb Stuart, was young but very perceptive and knew when to keep quiet.
“And here’s your new phone.”
Brendon took the bag and handed it to Shannon. “Please change out of the dress you’re wearing.”
“Brendon…” Shannon bit her lip, “I’ll change and wash it when I get back to the hotel and return it to you.”
“No, change now,” Brendon insisted, his cold gaze sending chills down Shannon’s spine. She clutched the bag and tried to persist, “Brendon, please.”
“There are others around!”
Shannon bit her lip, hoping Brendon would give her some face. But Brendon was merciless. “Shannon, letting you into the villa was already a mistake. I don’t want this issue to escalate further and affect my relationship with Ranita.”
“Please understand.”
Brendon’s eyes were icy, like a dagger piercing Shannon’s heart. She felt deeply unwilling. She had been so close to marrying Brendon; how did it come to this?
Shannon now regretted not eliminating all obstacles back then.
Shannon changed out of the dress and handed it to Brendon with an apologetic look. “Brendon, please explain to Ranita that I didn’t do it on purpose!”
“If necessary, I can apologize to her myself.”
Brendon gave Micah a look, and Micah promptly escorted Shannon to the car and drove her away.
Brendon looked at the dress in the bag. His villa had some of Ranita’s clothes that he had personally prepared for her. Frowning, Brendon tossed the bag into a trash can as he passed by.
Brendon returned to the villa and then personally went to Bowman’s Mansion.
Alexia didn’t greet him warmly. “What are you doing here?”
Although she disliked Brendon, Alexia wasn’t one to curse people out. She simply showed her displeasure through her expression. “Ranita isn’t home. If you have something to say, just say it.”
“Auntie, I’m not here for an official visit this time. I just came to see Ayaan,” Brendon said, unfazed by Alexia’s attitude.
His demeanor was extremely humble.
It was the first time Brendon had ever been so low-key.
