Chapter 16: He Doesn't Look Like a Good Man at First Glance
"Mom, why hasn't that old woman Sofia Yue been kicked out yet?"
Downstairs at the hospital, Emma Xia and Mia Zhao had been waiting for half an hour, their brows furrowing with impatience.
Mia Zhao's eyes narrowed, "Don't worry, let's wait a bit longer. That foolish Mrs. Liu only knows how to pamper her delicate daughter. Once she learns about this, she'll definitely cause a scene. Maybe that annoying Olivia Xia is involved, causing a delay."
Emma Xia snorted, "That Olivia Xia, after everything she's done, she still manages to weasel her way into everything."
Just as Mia was about to respond, the doors of the hospital opened, and Olivia Xia walked out, her expression calm and composed. She approached them with an air of confidence that only seemed to irritate Mia and Emma further.
"Waiting for someone?" Olivia asked casually, raising an eyebrow.
Mia crossed her arms, her tone sharp. "We're here to see Mrs. Liu. Why are you here, Olivia?"
Olivia's eyes flickered with amusement. "I have my reasons. But it looks like you're not having much luck with Mrs. Liu, are you?"
Emma's patience snapped. "Enough with your smugness, Olivia. Why don't you just leave us alone?"
Olivia smiled coolly. "As much as I'd love to, I have business to attend to here. So if you'll excuse me."
With that, Olivia turned on her heel and walked away, leaving Mia and Emma seething in her wake.
Upstairs, Sofia Yue was in a private room, looking much better after her treatment. She was talking to a nurse when Olivia entered.
"How are you feeling, Sofia?" Olivia asked gently.
Sofia looked up, a smile spreading across her face. "Much better, thanks to you, Olivia. I don't know what I would have done without your help."
Olivia sat down beside her, taking her hand. "I'm just glad you're okay. Don't worry about Mia and Emma; I'll handle them."
Sofia nodded, her eyes filling with gratitude. "You've always been so kind to me, Olivia. I don't understand why Mia and Emma can't see that."
Olivia squeezed her hand reassuringly. "People see what they want to see, Sofia. Just focus on getting better. I'll take care of the rest."
Meanwhile, downstairs, Mia and Emma were growing increasingly frustrated. Just as they were about to give up and leave, Mrs. Liu appeared, her expression a mix of concern and determination.
"What is going on here?" Mrs. Liu demanded, looking from Mia to Emma.
Mia quickly put on a sympathetic face. "Mrs. Liu, we've been waiting to speak with you about Sofia. We were just so worried about her."
Mrs. Liu's eyes narrowed. "Really? Because it seems to me like you were more interested in causing trouble than helping."
Emma tried to interject, but Mrs. Liu held up a hand. "Enough. I've had enough of your antics. Sofia is under Olivia's care now, and I trust her judgment completely. If you have any issues, take them up with me directly."
Mia and Emma were left speechless as Mrs. Liu turned and walked away, leaving them to stew in their frustration.
Back in Sofia's room, Olivia and Sofia were discussing the future. "Once you're fully recovered, we'll make sure everything is set for your return," Olivia said.
Sofia nodded, feeling hopeful for the first time in a while. "Thank you, Olivia. I don't know what I would do without you."
Olivia smiled warmly. "You don't have to worry about that. We're family, and family takes care of each other."
As they continued their conversation, Olivia felt a renewed sense of purpose. No matter what challenges came her way, she was ready to face them head-on, with the support of those who truly mattered. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
