Chapter 49
Chapter 49 The Modified Footage
"Miss Wilson, I asked her to leave because the hotel staff needed help in the warehouse. I saw Layla in the lounge, so I asked her to assist. Who would have thought she'd left here without properly securing such an important speech?"
Anna responded confidently, then continued, "Furthermore, it was her responsibility to keep an eye on the speech. She lost it and even blamed me for asking her to leave. What's wrong with her? It's not my fault, yet she's trying to put the blame onto me!"
Sam also chimed in, "Miss Wilson, Anna has been working in our company for a long time. She wouldn't do something like this. Layla is just a newcomer, so she's highly suspicious. Please investigate thoroughly, Miss Wilson."
Layla shook her head and cried again.
"Miss Wilson, I did leave the speech on the desk before going out. I didn't lose it on purpose."
"You didn't?" Anna glared at Layla. "Then who did it? Me?"
Layla looked aggrieved, "But... it's true that after you asked me to go out, the speech was missing when I returned."
Anna looked at her sternly. "So what? I can't ask the entire hotel to cooperate with me and let them ask for help back then, right?"
"I..." Layla was speechless, not knowing what to say.
Leah listened to their conversation without saying anything.
After they finished, she slowly said, "Enough of this. Let's just check the security footage."
Anna agreed, saying, "Yes, let's check the security footage. It will reveal who took the speech transcript."
Leah glanced at Anna, feeling slightly surprised.
Anna had never liked Leah before this incident.
Given the circumstances, Leah suspected that Anna might be behind this plot to embarrass her.
However, she was surprised that Anna readily agreed to review the security footage. Could it be that Anna wasn't afraid at all?
Sam added, "That's right, Miss
Wilson. We should review the security footage. Everything that happened here is recorded, and the truth will soon come out."
Leah nodded. "Alright, then. Let's all go to the control room together."
"Okay, Miss Wilson."
The group moved towards the control room, and the security staff cooperated by pulling up the relevant security footage.
However, to their astonishment, the footage for that specific time frame had been overwritten.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
The security staff appeared bewildered, unable to comprehend how this could have happened.
"How... How could the surveillance footage for that period be overwritten? I was here monitoring it the whole time."
"I'll take a look," Leah said, clicking the mouse to review the surveillance footage.
As expected, someone had tampered with the recordings for that time frame, making it impossible to see anything.
།
Leah stood there, pondering for a moment. Then she said, "We need to get technical experts involved. They should be able to recover the original surveillance footage."
Anna's eyes betrayed a hint of panic upon hearing this. She
subsly glanced at Sam
standing behind her, and he gave her a reassuring look.
Sam had likely already arranged everything, and this assurance put Anna's anxious heart at ease.
A few minutes later, a technical expert arrived at the control room to start his investigation.
Leah watched his actions and asked, "How is it going? Can you recover the footage?"
