Ben wondered what Alpha Dave was doing there. Thalia replied, “If you want to know, just go up and see for yourself.” The three of them exchanged a look and went after Dave.
Meanwhile, upon entering the room, Dave was greeted by the sight of numerous needles stuck into Alpha Kilian’s head, while another man slowly extracted them.
Alpha Kilian frowned and asked, “Why are you here?”
Dave walked over, seated himself comfortably, and locked eyes with Alpha Kilian. “I’m done with your two sons.”
“What now?” Alpha Kilian picked up a cup of water from the side and took a sip.
“They received news about Boss’s severe injuries. They said they would team up with the men on the bounty list to find a way to rescue Nelly if they couldn’t find you.”
“They’re trying to bait you, to force me out.”
“Of course, I considered that. But do you think they’ll really stop? What do you think they’ll do if they can’t find you? I can’t even guarantee their actions.”
Alpha Kilian pondered for a moment before replying, “Dave, no matter what, get them out of here!”
“Do you think I don’t want that? Look at your kids. Are they ordinary children? They are incredibly smart, which makes it even harder to deceive them. And with Thalia around to protect them, what do you expect me to do?”
At the mention of Thalia, the man with the needles froze momentarily. Dave noticed, but chose to close his eyes and say nothing.
Alpha Kilian also noticed and understood the reasons behind it. He glanced at the person beside him, then turned back to Dave. “Dave, find a way to get the three of them out of here.”
Dave shook his head. “That’s beyond my capabilities. Thalia even snuck into my room a few days ago and almost killed me!”
Alpha Kilian was surprised. He looked at the man beside him and asked, “And…?”
“Why don’t you ask what she did to me instead? She’s the Darknetz Ace. Do you think she’s someone anyone can easily bully?” Dave answered.
Alpha Kilian felt slightly relieved. “And you’re still standing here in one piece, aren’t you?”
“If it weren’t for the fear of escalating the conflict between Darknetz and DX further, I would’ve–” Before Dave could finish speaking, the man with the needles abruptly turned around, giving Dave an intense stare.
Alpha Kilian interjected, “That’s right. For now, we won’t start another fight with Darknetz, for the sake of Tony and Ben.”
“I suggest we take them in. They could even become the successors of DX in the future,” Dave said. Alpha Kilian smiled. “That’s something they’ll have to decide for themselves!”
“You’re their father. You have to decide for them.”
Alpha Kilian’s eyes dimmed. “Nelly said we must respect their decisions and not impose our thoughts and beliefs on them. She said we should grant them the freedom to choose.”
“I suppose you two are the only ones in the world who are that carefree about your children’s future.”
“Well, when husband and wife think alike, what can be done?”
Tony and Ben were taken aback as they beheld the figures before them in the dimly lit room. The air was heavy with tension, their voices echoed with astonishment. “Daddy?” they called out in unison, their voices filled with a mix of surprise and confusion.
Alpha Kilian’s stern expression deepened as he turned his gaze towards Dave, his loyal companion who seemed utterly helpless in the face of what had transpired. Dave had no choice but to bear witness to the unfolding events.
Without wasting any time, the two boys bravely made their way into the room. Tony’s eyes widened in shock as he noticed the needles still embedded in his father’s body. “Daddy, what is this?” he questioned, his voice quivering with equal parts fear and bewilderment.
Tony’s confusion multiplied exponentially when he saw Spencer, the strange figure standing beside Alpha Kilian. “Spencer…” he uttered, his tone filled with uncertainty.
Turning his attention to Thalia, Tony felt his panic begin to rise, but her composed demeanor gave him a fleeting glimmer of hope. Thalia calmly holstered her gun and declared, “I shall leave you all be. I am departing now.”
She left without waiting for any response, leaving Spencer to watch her retreating form, his brow furrowing in deep thought.
“What are you waiting for? Go after her!” Tony’s voice broke the silence, his urgency evident. Yet Spencer, avoiding any eye contact, seemed to hesitate, torn between conflicting desires.
Ben chimed in, his voice filled with concern, “This place is treacherous, especially during the night. The arrival of new companies has made it increasingly unsafe. If you wish to avoid any potential regrets, you should stay.”
Hearing Ben’s words, Spencer glanced at him, and then turned to Alpha Kilian. “I will return swiftly,” he stated, receiving a silent nod of approval from Alpha Kilian.
With that, Spencer rose from his seat and followed after Thalia, his footsteps echoing as he left the room.
Finally, Tony and Ben released the breaths they had been holding, a sense of relief washing over them. Only a handful of individuals remained in the room now.
Dave looked at them briefly, his eyes filled with understanding. “I shall leave you all alone. I am going out for a smoke.” Without waiting for a response, he stood up and exited the room.
And so, it was only the father and his sons who remained, their bond cemented by blood and unspoken loyalty.
Tony’s gaze bore into Alpha Kilian, his eyes filled with uncertainty. “Daddy, what purpose do these needles serve?”
Alpha Kilian swiftly removed the needles from his body, the action accompanied by a pained grimace. “It is nothing,” he replied, his words laced with hesitation.
However, his evasive response only served to intensify the boys’ worry. Ben couldn’t restrain himself any longer, voicing his concerns, “Daddy, do you suffer from an incurable ailment? Is that why you keep secrets from us and embark on solitary journeys?”
Alpha Kilian was taken aback by the unexpected questions, momentarily lost for words. “What are you speaking of?” he finally managed to utter, confusion etched across his face.
“Then what else could it be?” Ben’s worry grew palpable. “Nelly informed us about it. And why is Spencer here?” His voice trembled with anxiety.
Alpha Kilian let out a heavy sigh, as if burdened by his own thoughts. “He is here to aid me in recovering my lost memories,” he confessed, with an air of resignation. Once more, he sighed, “Recover my memories…”
“You mean the memories you lost when you suffered a blow to the head while saving Nelly?” Alpha Kilian nodded, acknowledging the truth in his son’s words.
The two boys breathed a collective sigh of relief. It was a relief to discover that their father was not afflicted by a debilitating illness.
“But Daddy, why the sudden desire to reclaim your forgotten memories?” Tony inquired, a hint of apprehension lacing his words. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
“Of late, I have been plagued by fragmented memories that haunt my dreams,” Alpha Kilian revealed. “They are incomplete, and I feel compelled to unravel their mysteries. It feels as though something of great importance has slipped through my grasp!”
“Of course, you have forgotten!” Tony interrupted, his voice resonating with both frustration and sadness. Alpha Kilian regarded his son with a quizzical stare.
“You have forgotten the depth of Nelly’s love for you!” Alpha Kilian’s heartbeat quickened as these words pierced his soul.
Tony took a deep breath, steeling himself for what he would say next. “Daddy, please, do not tell me that you are unaware of Nelly’s love for you.”
“Love for me?” Alpha Kilian’s voice trembled with a mix of astonishment and trepidation.
“And why do you think she agreed to be mated to you?” Tony continued. “It was not merely an arrangement orchestrated by our grandfathers.”
“And do you truly believe Nelly is the type of woman who would allow herself to be dictated by others?” Alpha Kilian’s confusion deepened as he studied his sons’ faces, searching for answers.
“Daddy, a person’s appearance and style may change over time, but their essence remains unchanged,” Tony explained, his voice filled with conviction. “Our grandfathers once shared a story with us, how you always spoke of marrying Nelly when you were older. The accident that caused you to lose your memories also caused you to forget her, and only her. But for Nelly, things were different. That is why our grandfathers agreed to marry her to you, even though you held disdain for her. Because that is what she wanted!”
Alpha Kilian stood before them, speechless and overwhelmed by all that he was hearing. There were pieces of the puzzle he had been missing, truths that had been kept from him. “None of this was ever revealed to me before.”
“That is because Nelly did not wish to hold you back,” Tony gently explained. “She expressed that if you had forgotten your promises or if your heart had strayed to another, she would accept it. After all, what had transpired between you both was nothing more than childish fantasies. But she was the only one who took it to heart.”
Alpha Kilian looked upon his sons, a mixture of love and regret reflected in his eyes. How he longed to confront Nelly and unravel the truth for himself.
“Daddy, so now you both are in love, right?” Tony inquired tentatively. “There is still a chance for you to make up for all the lost time.”
Alpha Kilian let out a heavy sigh. The weight of his memories, both lost and found, bore down upon him, enveloping him in a sea of tumultuous emotions.
