Alpha Knight’s Cursed Mate

27

KNIGHT

I spat the blood on the ground.

This was fun. I missed those times. This loser thought he could beat me- only in his dream.

I was just giving his fans a little bit of a taste of happiness until I broke his jaw and left him unconscious. He had a strong kick and punch, though. If I didn’t heal fast, I wouldn’t last this long.

I was sweating, yet I felt like I was only warming up. I did this in college to save money, and I never lost. Given what I was, I knew it was cheating, but I loved the attention and money.

“Alpha, I’m getting bored! Unless you’ll finish him now, or I’m going home!”

I chuckled as I heard Nirvana yell. Yeah, I knew where she was, and she looked terrified, clinging to Kailin.

“This is for you, sweetheart.” I straightened my stance and focused on the guy’s weakness.

My wolf growled inside me, agitated and excited to feel the blood on my fist. It was getting boring anyway. I had to finish this off and bring home my mate.

Bulldozer threw his punch. I saw it in his eyes. The triumph was just within arm’s reach. But not today. Call me cocky, but everyone should know I was winning. The guy was quickly burning out.

I dodged my head back and blocked his arm. He hadn’t grasped his surprise. My fist had already hit his jaw with an uppercut punch. A gasp erupted around the underground crowd. I watched Bulldozer’s head tilt back, and his body fell to the ground with a thud.

I wasn’t nearly done- I wanted to make sure Bulldozer couldn’t get up while I took and celebrated my win, but I made sure he wouldn’t die in my hands. I locked him on his chest, punching him in the face until his head fell to the side, and he went unconscious.

“Our winner! Alpha!” The name Alpha in the ring was just for fun until it stuck in me.

Luka and Kaleb came to me, wiping my sweat and blood.

“You did it.” Luka was grinning like a kid.

“You have doubts?” Kaleb asked.

“No fucking way. It just took too long for him to knock out that pig. He thought he had the chance to break your pretty face.”

“Boss wanted to see you,” said the bulky man in a ponytail.

I nodded as I turned to Kaleb. “Meet me outside. Luka, come with me.”

“Right, alpha. Link us if things go south with Cadogan.” He gave me my T-shirt back.

“It won’t be long.” I put my shirt on and went with the man in a ponytail.

We went into the office upstairs. Cadogan was waiting for me on his desk. Three men in leather jackets were standing at the corner.Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Cadogan was a man with many tattoos who owned and rode a Harley. He was a typical bully even in his late fifties, just like his son, Travis- an apple didn’t really fall far from the tree.

Maybe my luck in bribing him with wines was over, and I was also done with it when his son kept on hurting my people- the people I protected.

“I see. You won.”

“It’s not about winning against your best fighter. I want your son, Travis, and his men to stop harassing my boys.”

“Or what?”

“Don’t test me, Cadogan. I’ve been patient for months. The twins had let your son beat them, and they chose to get beaten. I want you to tell Travis to leave the boys alone, or the next time they beat the twins, I will take it into my own hands, and you won’t gonna like it.”

“Are you threatening me in my own home?” Anger filled his eyes, and his hands formed into fists on his desk.

“If it sounds like a threat, then it is.”

“Tell your boys to stay away where Travis is.”

“This is a free country. I won’t tell them anything as long as they do not step into your property.”

“You might be in luck winning against Bull, but it will eventually run out.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“I have men and guns, and you’re the only guy in your merry band of misfits who can fight.”

I chuckled when the first guy in the corner formed his hands into fists. “Don’t try me, Cadogan. I’m here as a courtesy call. The next time I step into this property, I either drop bodies or burn this building down to the ground. So, one last time, stay away from my boys.”

I glanced over at the three guys. If they even stepped forward, I would beat them into pulps.

I stepped out, not waiting for him to intimidate me with his minions and guns. I also knew how to use guns. I had it at home and in the pack house just in case people would come to harm us.

“Is everything okay?” Luka asked as we walked out of the building.

“Not even the slightest.”

“What are we gonna do now?”

“We have to be careful this time. I think I just poked the bear. The grizzly bear.”

Luka laughed. “The ugly coyote. If it’s a panda, I would love to pet him.”

We reached the parking lot, where everyone was waiting for us.

“You son of-” Nirvana pursed her lips as she hit my chest with her fist. “You’re trying to give me a heart attack!”

When no one seemed to react, she glanced at them one by one, and her cheeks turned red like tomatoes. “Was it bad to hit an alpha?”

Everyone shrugged as they retrieved into the SUV and cars.

“You can do whatever you want. He’s your man,” Kailin grinned before she joined her brother inside the SUV.

“Gosh.” She might have finally realized something. “They knew, didn’t they?”

“Knew what?” I unlocked the car.

“Give me the key, Knight. I’ll drive.”

“No, I’m driving.”

“You just get punches and kicks. You should be going to the hospital for a thorough exam.”

“I won’t heal fast if I tear a major artery, and I’m feeling fine.” I opened the door to the passenger seat. “Get in the car, sweetheart. Don’t let them wait.”

She blew through her nose and said, “Fine.”

We pulled out of Cadogan’s property before he rained us with bullets.

“Let me guess. It wasn’t your first or second fight in that kind of ring, is it?”

“Nope. I used to fight in a secret fight club in college, and that’s how I paid my college tuition without touching my parents’ money.”

“You’re that good, huh?” I could hear the pride and relief in her voice.

I shrugged it off to not get too cocky.

“But you were cheating, Knight. They didn’t know, did they?”

“Just like I did earlier, I received punches and kicks. I’m not a pro, but I trained and worked hard to learn how to fight. So, I guess I deserved to win.”

“Whatever. It’s hard to watch you fight against a giant man in that ring.”

“Hey.” I reached out to hold her hand. Fortunately, she didn’t pull it back. “I’m fine. I promise I’ll be careful.”

“You should stop doing it.”

“I’m just making a statement earlier, and I talked to Cadogan, father of Travis, who beat the hell out of twins. I gave them a warning, and if they don’t stop what they’re doing, I have no choice but to stop them.”

“Oh, God. What the hell did I get myself into?”

“I’m sorry. This is not the life I want for us, but the bullying has to end.”

“I guess I knew what I signed up for before I came here with you. I just need to get used to my life now.”

I smiled at her when I remembered our deal. “I heard you cheer for me.”

Her cheek blossomed red. “Shut up. I just got bored watching you both brawl.”

“If you say so, Nirvana. And a deal is a deal.”

Her head snapped in my direction, eyes growing wide. She might have just forgotten about our deal.

I grinned like a Cheshire cat.

“It was not valid. We didn’t do it writing.”

“Really, Nirvana? Considering I’m the alpha, my words are considered law around here.”

“Shit.”
