Chapter Three
Cassy rubbed her hand nervously against her dress and shook when she heard their calls again. They were close.
Kai was beginning to lose patience, she was taking too much time. Why would she request not to be rejected when she had nothing to offer.
She sucked in a deep breath when she saw Kai’s look.
“We could make a pact,” He raised his eyebrows at her and she continued. “You cannot crown me Luna for you already hate weaklings.
“You can decide not to complete the mate bond and also you can have….. concubines or even marry other wives.” She rushed her last words, fiddling with her fingers with her head lowered.
Cassy couldn’t understand where those words came from but she still felt it was reasonable enough.
She bit her lower lip as silence came over them. Kai was not saying anything which made her feel uncomfortable.
Was he going to accept? Her heart was thumping.
Kai tried not to sigh. His mind was in chaos, he didn’t want to accept the pact. What if she ended up asking for more later?
On the other hand, his wolf was troubling him to accept and with the way she shook each time she heard her name from her family members he knew he had to accept her.Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Accepted.” The words rolled out of his mouth before he could fully process his thoughts.
Cassy raised her head as soon as she heard his words. She didn’t know if she should feel excited. What’s the use of being excited when your mate does not approve of you?
“Why are you here, Cassy?” Alec asked as her family reached where they were standing.
“Why did you leave the ball after showing disrespect for your mother!?” He half yelled, making Cassy flinch. Tears were brimming up in her eyes.
Audrey felt bad for her sister and wanted to beg her father to stop yelling but Tabitha’s glare held her back.
Tabitha had a small smile on her face. She had told Alec that Cassy pushed her away and insulted her before running away. Alec and Audrey didn’t want to believe, knowing how gentle Cassy was but Tabitha was already crying.
Alec’s gaze fell on Kai before darting back to Cassy. “What are you doing with the Alpha?”
Cassy swallowed. She was wondering if it was okay with Kai to tell them they were mates. She made to speak but Kai beat her to it.
“Mate,” His commanding voice came.
He pulled her closer by her shoulder, tingles washing over them. “She is my mate.”
Everyone’s eyes were wide on their head, especially Tabitha and Audrey.
Tabitha shook her head, she didn’t want to believe it. That low life can’t become a Luna!
“I apologize for my negligence, your majesty!” Alec apologized a loud, bowing to him. He glared at Tabitha and Audrey.
“Accept our apology, your Majesty.” They curtsied.
“I understand, Beta Alec,” Kai replied and glanced at Cassy who had her head hung low.
He placed his index finger under her chin and raised her head up to meet his drowning emerald green eyes.
“I’ll come for her tomorrow,” He declared and let go of her chin. “Have a good night’s rest, Beta Alec.” And with that, Kai took his leave.
Cassy was still frozen at the spot. Every place he had touched her was tingling, giving out sweet feelings that washed all over.
Alec rushed to his daughter’s side with a broad smile on his face. He was still finding it hard to believe that the moon goddess had paired his daughter with the Alpha.
Who ever thought that an omega could be with the king? He was not trying to bad mouth her but that was how hard it was for omegas in the pack. Everyone expected them to be paired with someone like them, a poor farmer or end up as a servant at the palace.
He was happy that the moon goddess favored his daughter.
“I’m so happy for you my priceless princess!” He beamed pulling into a hug.
“We should go home now, father.” Cassy told him as they separated from the hug and Alec nodded.
Cassy’s eyes traveled to Audrey who was standing beside her mother unmoving. Cassy had expected her to be the first person to meet her but she was not even sparing her a glance.
Cassy sighed looked away. It seemed like Audrey was not in the mood and she was not ready to disturb her.
Alec took Audrey’s carriage to the coronation ceremony. Alpha Kai had decided to hold the coronation immediately after the mating ball, so Audrey had to ride with Cassy in her carriage.
“So, did you enjoy yourself at the ball? Did you find your mate?” Cassy asked with a smile on her face, trying to break the silence.
Audrey only hummed in reply, staring at the opposite wall of the carriage.
“Audre–” Cassy tried to say.
“Cassy, please can we just ride home in peace? I want sometime to myself.” Audrey interjected, surprising Cassy.
She was surprised Audrey had called her by her name which she rarely did. She couldn’t believe it was her beloved sister saying this, what was going on?
Maybe she just needed time.
Cassy granted her request by not speaking a word till they got home.
Audrey got down from the carriage and went straight to her room without sparing her a glance.
Cassy couldn’t understand what was going on. Audrey’s face held no expression so she couldn’t phantom what she was feeling.
Cassy got down from the carriage and made to walk into the mansion when Tabitha brushed past her pushing her with her side and making her fall to the ground.
Tabitha laughed watching Jasmine help the lady up. “Weakling.” she seethed before walking inside.
“My Lady, are you okay?” Jasmine asked and Cassy nodded.
Even if she said she was not okay, it wasn’t going to change anything. Anyways, she was glad that it was her last night in the house.
Cassy retired to bed that evening, with many thoughts running through her mind. Her main concern was about the Alpha and Audrey’s behavior earlier.
She was still surprised by the way he had claimed her immediately, the person who hated weaklings stood up for one. She felt happy immediately. He said she was going to start living at the palace tomorrow.
The moon goddess had indeed heard her prayer. Not only was her mate understanding but he was a strong person. Something she had always prayed for.
The thought of her sister crept into her happy heart overshadowing it with worry. Audrey have always been open to her about her feelings but why was she not saying anything?
Maybe the ball didn’t go well for her and she didn’t find her mate which made her feel frustrated.
With that conclusion in her heart, Cassy drifted into oblivion with the thought of what tomorrow had in stock for her tomorrow.
The mansion was bubbling with happiness as servants flocked around. Some were preparing meals while some were decorating the mansion.
Cassy was dressing up in her room. She had gotten up early to prepare for the day she has been waiting for all her life.
“I’m so happy for you, my lady.” Jasmine beamed, adorning her hair with gold pins.
Cassy smiled. “Thank you, Jasmine.”
“I wish you can take me along with you.” Jasmine uttered.
“I’ll see what I can do about that.”
“Thank you, my lady.”
Cassy stared at her reflection in the mirror. She couldn’t deny the fact that she looked stunning.
Alec had been there earlier to give her some advises. Her life was going to change and she needed to be careful as the Luna. He also talked about satisfying her husband in bed, something that was supposed to be done by a woman.
Cassy shook remembering her mother. If only she was here.
“My lady, the royal carriage is here.” informed Jasmine, snapping her out of her thoughts.
Cassy nodded and stood up, taking in a deep breath before strolling out.
Audrey threw herself on her as soon as she got out, taking her by surprise.
“I’m sorry for last night sis.” She apologised and Cassy wrapped her arms around her.
“I just couldn’t believe you were going to leave this early, plus I hadn’t found my mate.” She told Cassy as they separated from the hug.
“Silly girl!” Cassy flicked her finger against Audrey’s forehead, making her yelp. “You scared me!”
“I’ll miss you.” she whined, holding her arm tightly and resting on her shoulder.
“I know. I’ll miss you too but you can come to visit me in the palace, I’m sure the Alpha won’t mind.”
“You’re the best sis!”
Alec cleared his throat and Cassy went to hug him. She would miss him very much.
“I’ll miss you, father.” she hugged him tightly.
Alec patted her hair before disengaging from the hug. He wiped her tears.
“Remember what I told you, dear.”
Cassy nodded and sniffed before walking to the carriage. She took one last look at the mansion before entering the carriage.
She sniffed as the carriage took off. She was going to the palace and she needed to be strong.
Don’t cry, Cassy. Don’t cry.
