Chapter 27
Chapter 27
SIDONNIE’S POV
“Athena,” I called out from outside as I hurriedly stepped into the warmth of our home, the echoes of my footsteps mingling with the anticipation of reuniting with my family after a long day at work.
“Shh,” Athena hushed, her index finger placed delicately across her l*ps. Her eyes sparkled with a subtle mischief as she motioned for me to keep my voice down.
“Mason just slept. You don’t want to wake him,” she added in a soft, almost conspiratorial tone.
The ambiance in the room shifted as I absorbed her words, immediately adjusting my energy to match the tranquility that was previously in the house.
Standing near Mason’s room, Athena greeted me with a smile that radiated both warmth and weariness. Her eyes looked tired yet filled with an unmistakable love, met mine, and a silent understanding passed between us. The unspoken routine of co- parenting my bundle of joy and maintaining peace in the home, resonated in the air.
As I approached her, she gestured toward Mason’s room, inviting me to share in the quiet beauty of the moment. Together, we stood at the door, as we stared at the preciousness of the scene before us – the innocence of a child peacefully lost in dreams and the simple joy of family, preserved in the quietude of the evening. That would not be the first time we would look at Mason while he slept but doing it over and over again. felt new everytime we did it.
“I found out what you said I should,” I began, the weight of the information evident in my expression as I shared the details with Athena.
“How is it?” She inquired, her eyes reflecting a mix of concern and anticipation.
So
“Alpha Raina wants to get married to Alpha Carlyle by all means. I got to know that she’s
obsessed with him. In fact, she was the one who brought the idea to Alpha Rex after Alpha Carlyle’s first visit.”
“That’s terrible. Not good. She’s going to be after you soon,” Athena observed, her words laden with a sense of foreboding.
“Yes, Athena. That’s exactly my fear the moment she could connect me with him.” I admitted, a trace of anxiety tinging my tone. The sudden intrusion of a potential threat disrupted the peaceful life I had been living, raising questions about the inexplicable

twists fate could throw our way.
“The goddess knows best, Donnie. Everything that happens is fated in one way or the other. But it’s a sign. Donnie. I want you to be prepared,” Athena advised, her words carrying a sense of wisdom and a touch of maternal concern.
“What sign?” I asked as I was confused.
“My child, you will understand when it’s time. But I’ll say one thing, don’t deny how fate. wants to work. Allow it, embrace it.”
“Alright, godmother.” I agreed, though a sense of uncertainty lingered. Athena’s cryptic guidance left me pondering, trying to decipher the threads of fate that seemed to be weaving around my life. The
unexpected turn of events had cast a shadow on the tranquility I once enjoyed, and as I prepared to face the unknown, I couldn’t help but wonder what destiny had in store for me.
One thing I knew was that she’s always looking out for me and she definitely can’t me in danger’s way.
“You didn’t bother asking around for the reasons for Alpha Carlyle’s visit?”
put
“I tried getting an answer to that too but it was a dead end. I heard that the reason he visited was made confidential.”
“Then, that must mean something very very important, Athena reasoned out her thoughts, and I nodded in affirmation.
“That’s true, godmother. Since he could come ask an Alpha like Rex, it’s extremely important and anything with such importance to Alpha Carlyle is life threatening.”
“It shall be well. Athena heaved a sigh, staring into space. When she talks sometimes, it feels like she could see the future. I’ve asked her how she does it but she replied that it’s the wisdom of an old supernatural. Up till that moment, I didn’t know which supernatural being she was exactly. All I could tell was that she has a good mind.
“I hope so,” I replied, observing her.
“Donnie dear, kindly help me go pick an herb.”
“Which herb is that? And where can I find it?” I asked, paying attention to details. That wouldn’t be the first time I ran such errands so it wasn’t anything new to me. In fact, I’ve learnt a lot about medicine from her since she was well versed in it.
“You’ve not picked one like this before, so pay attention to this. The herb you’re picking

is called the White Dasier. Its flowers are very white and beautiful. She began describing the herb while I took note,
“…to crown it all, it has an alluring fragrance. Immediately you see it, cover your nose. It arouses one’s greediness and puts one in slumber”
“By greediness, you mean one’s greedy thoughts?”
“Exactly! Only beings with pure mind wouldn’t be affected by it when activated, I’m not saying you’re not of pure mind but prevention is better than taking risk. The white Dasier doesn’t like evil thoughts around it”
“Wow, that’s incredible. I never knew such flowers existed. How did you know about it? I asked with curiosity.
“I’ve lived longer, you know” She said, and I didn’t bother disturbing her about it. Anytime Athena says ‘she’s lived longer in the tone she said this, then it’s probably a secret she doesn’t want me to know yet.
“Anyway, I’ll tell you more about it when you return. Head over first.” She said, arousing my happiness.
“You’ve not told me where I’ll find it.”
“You’ll find it in the woods close to the Mountain of Canth.”
“Mountain of Canth?” I turned back sharply to look at her, the name resonating with a sense of mystery. I’ve aways heard about that terrain when I was still in Moon Shade, during the packs geographical lessons.
“Yes, dear.” She replied expressionlessly, her gaze meeting mine. I could sense that she was aware of the significance of the location, yet she chose to withhold certain details. deliberately.
“Isn’t that the area close to the forbidden land of Aridah?” I questioned, the mention of Aridah heightening the mystery of the situation.
“Of course, it is. But you’re not getting to Aridah. You’re going to find it before you even get around that area.” She explained cryptically, her words hanging in the air with an unspoken significance.
I furrowed my brow, trying to unravel the layers of meaning in her words. The forbidden land of Aridah was shrouded in myths and legends, a place where only few dared to venture. The mention of the Mountain of Canth, situated close to such forbidden terrain, only added to the mystery surrounding the quest she was sending
me on.
A mix of curiosity and apprehension settled within me. Athena’s guidance had always. carried a touch of the divine, and the unknown journey that lay ahead seemed to hold something I was yet to know.
“Can I choose to go tomorrow? Perhaps before going to work? It’s getting late already, Athena, and that place is rumoured to be so dangerous.” Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

“It’s better you go today, Donnie dear. The Goddess shall watch over your every step.” She prayed, leaving me no choice but to go. Athena wasn’t someone who would send me an errand, and I wouldn’t go. She has been there for me through thick and thin and she rarely sends me on an errand. So, I had no choice on this..
As I prepared to embark on the expedition, the echoes of her words rang in my cars, making me wonder what awaited me near the Mountain of Canth.
