And The Daddy Is… The Infertile Guy?!

Chapter 51

Chapter 51

What?” Gwendolyn hadn’t caught what she said.

Eve was lost in thought for a good while before she finally spoke up, “Never mind, you arrange It.”

“Alright, I’ll talk to the doctor.” Gwendolyn’s voice was calm, “If there’s any problem, you can Just ring for me.”

After she left, Eve massaged her throbbing temples.

From that angle just now, her eyes had played tricks on her. This girl Gwendolyn had a certain resemblance to her daughter in her younger days.

Eve even forgot to be angry.

But upon a closer look, the similarities faded.

Life was full of surprises, wasn’t it?

She took out her smartphone and dialed her eldest son, “Carlisle, I saw a girl at the hospital today who looks a bit like Magnolia. The hospital sure knows how to pick them.” The Lopez family adored their daughter to no end.

“They’re probably trying to manipulate me into cooperating with the treatment, sending someone who looks like her. I won’t be outsmarted,” Eve huffed, ‘This must be one of Sanford’s schemes.”

If Sanford knew what Eve was thinking, he’d declare his innocence. It was all Mack’s doing that led to this arrangement.

“Mom, just stay in the hospital. Paralysis can be treated,” Carlisle tried to reassure her.

“Don’t fool me. I hate hospitals.” said Eve. To get back home for her recovery, she had to be tough.

When Gwendolyn returned, she had taken Eve for her check–up and picked up a meal on the way back.

Back in the room, Eve knocked over the bland hospital meal, splashing hot broth on Gwendolyn’s hand.

“What is this slop? I want a meal from Epicure’s Delight.”

“You told me to arrange it, Gwendolyn said, standing her ground.

“I never said that. You heard wrong.” Eve insisted, hiding her unease.

Gwendolyn had her principles, “Hospital patients should follow medical advice. I’ll

another one.

“I don’t want it. Clean up this mess. It’s greasy and disgusting.” Eve ramped up the drama.

Gwendolyn glanced at her and silently began to clean the room.

“I want to take a nap, so don’t disturb me.” Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

“At one o’clock, Dr. Yates will come for your acupuncture.”

“Let him wait.”

As patients go, Eve was one of the most difficult Gwendolyn had ever encountered. By the end of the day, she was practically running on empty.

After her shift, Mamie and Polly still had the energy to plan dinner together.

Seeing Gwendolyn’s weary state, Mamie couldn’t help but tease, “Our top professional, how’s the janitorial work going?”

Polly chimed in with a sly tone, “Heard she even had to mop the floor. Our housekeeper doesn’t even do that. Such a capable country girl.”

Gwendolyn ignored them, changed clothes, and headed for the bus.

“Mamie, she must’ve been dumped by her sugar daddy. Taking the bus.” Polly said, linking arms with Mamie affectionately.

To her, Mamie was the real deal who had a well–off family background. And most. importantly, Mamie claimed to know Jeannie of the Chadwick family.

Although Mr. Howard’s family had fallen from grace to these ordinary rich folks, Jeannie was still out of reach. There was a chasm between the nouveau riche and the top–tier wealthy.

“She had it coming.” Mamie laughed.

Gwendolyn rode the bus home, the scent of disinfectant on her almost marinating her. After disembarking, it was a good fifteen–minute walk to the upscale residential area.

“Marina.”

“Oh my, Mrs. Chadwick, it’s dark already. Haven’t had dinner, have you? I’ll go heat something up for you.”
