Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman

Chapter 193 As Annoying As Flies

Chapter 193 As Annoying As Flies

Gazing intently at Moore's sorry face, Jean stared at him in a daze. She didn't know what to say.

The fact is that it was she who hit Moore and put him in the hospital to fight for his life. It was she who

should apologize.

'But is there anything wrong? How could Moore be apologizing to me instead?' she thought.

"Moore, please don't say that anymore. It was a grave mistake on my part as my car hit you. Anyway,

let's not blame ourselves anymore. We will be laughed at when others see how we are taking

responsibility for this,"

Jean smiled, hoping to put a stop to this.

"What will they laugh at? Will they laugh at us just because we are agreeable like friends, and there is

no misunderstanding between us? It will be jealousy, okay?" Moore shook his head and sighed,"You

don't understand. When you didn't get out of the car for a long time when I was hit by you, and I lay

there helpless, I thought, 'Oh no!' I must have met a coward. He will run away while I am still dizzy."

"No wonder you were desperately calling for help. Was it so that I would not be able to escape?" A

wide-eyed Jean asked.

"That's what I was initially thinking. But when I saw you, it was different. You didn't look like an

irresponsible person. Otherwise, you wouldn't have looked after me all night without sleeping a wink,"

Moore smiled gratefully.

"Oh, this reminds me. Moore. Why don't you blame me? Is it just because I accompanied you last

night?" Chewing on her lip, Jean said,"Please don't get such an idea. My driving caused the accident

and I am responsible for you. Your medical bills, mental harassment and nursing fees, all will be taken

care of by my lawyer..."

"Umm... Jean, don't do this. Although we have just met, it feels like we were fast friends for quite some

time." A shadow of a doubt crossed Moore's face. He interrupted Jean unhappily.

"But..." Jean wanted to continue what she was saying but closed her mouth as she saw the expression

on his face.

"You needn't bring this up any more. If you will occasionally visit me in the hospital, don't speak such

rubbish things to me. I might be an orphan but my foster parents were very good to me. They left me

with enough money for the rest of my life. Each of us is responsible for the accident. Please,

understand, I don't need you to pay for the medical expenses."

Moore sounded serious and earnest as he said these words in a breath.

Dumbstruck, Jean looked at him with her mouth slightly open, searching for an appropriate response to

what Moore had just said. In utter turmoil, she thought, 'Did I mishear him just now?

Does Moore not want me to take the responsibility or pay for the medical expenses either?

It must be the strangest accident to have ever happened in H City! Maybe, Moore has been knocked

silly and isn't of sound mind?'

Thinking of this, Jean couldn't help but stretch her hand to touch Moore's forehead and see whether he

had a fever.

Quiet but simmering with hurt, Moore was affronted when he saw Jean out of the blue tried to check if

he was okay. His face turned cold at once and he shouted,"What are you doing?"

"I...I just want to see if you have a fever... Otherwise, how could you say such strange words?" Hearing

those words out aloud, Jean blushed with embarrassment and bit her tongue.

'What?' Moore was baffled and didn't know whether to cry or to be angry.

'What a silly girl! She seemed to be very smart when facing Shirley. How could she be so silly before

me?'

"I'm all right. And I can assure you that what I have said just now were all from the bottom of my heart."

Moore helplessly tried to prove the sincerity of his words.

"I... am sorry..." Jean blushed even more and smiled bitterly,"All the people around me are those who

do everything for their own benefit. And so, I was shocked when you said your piece."

'It almost made my heart jump out, okay? Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

Whether Moore is too good, or all the people I met are the bad guys who care only for their interests.

I can't tell what the truth is here.'

Jean sighed, looking outside the window and pondering on what a jumble of a situation she was in.

"Why don't you tell me something about your family?" Reading the bitter expression on her face, Moore

asked with concern.

"There is nothing to say. The days with a stepmother are much the same." Jean shook her head and

had no wish to reveal her stifling past life anymore.

"Hmm. Now that you don't want to mention it, just don't dwell on the past. It will only make you

unhappy. Jean, you are a sensible and brave girl. All I can say is as you are no longer with the…

Wens? you should live your life afresh."

Looking her deep in the eyes, Moore encouraged Jean honestly.

"Yes, I will," Jean said that, but she thought, 'Certainly I don't want to talk to them, but they just annoy

me like flies!'

"You have just woken up. Why don't you take rest?" The visiting hours must be coming to an end, she

guessed. What's more, Moore had said a lot and spent a lot of energy during this period. Her eyes

went big with concern and she immediately asked,"How is your pain now?"

Moore was surprised as he only began to feel painful once she asked him.

He had been so engrossed since Jean stepped into the ward that it seemed his mind had also stopped

alerting him to his aches.

Speaking helped him distract his attention from it and thus, his recovery was less painful.

But Moore clearly knew that he couldn't make Jean stay for longer.

"You should go back if you have something to deal with. It's anyway not required to visit me everyday."

Feeling his eyelids become heavy, Moore blinked in Jean's direction.

He had turned pale from exertion and was grimacing in pain when he pretended it was not like that.

She decided to leave but cajoled him once again,"Moore, If it's too painful, please ask the doctor to

give you some painkillers."

"Never mind. I just want the wound to heal quickly." Shaking his head, he said,"Goodbye! I'll take some

rest now."

"Well, Bye." Jean nodded to him and turned to walk outside.

Right outside, the kind-faced nurse stood waiting for Jean to leave, and to resume her duties. Jean

whispered a few words to her first before heading for the hospital's gate.

"Hey, are you leaving now that you have flirted enough with your lover?" Shirley appeared in front of

Jean again as annoying as a fly. She deliberately spoke in a loud voice and tried to get the people

around to notice what she was up to.

"Shirley, has it not been enough that you were almost slapped by me again?" Jean sneered as her

eyes filled with hatred.

"Slapped who? Did I miss something funny?" A male voice suddenly said these words from behind as

Winner started to walk towards them.

Seeing that she was in trouble, Jean's face clouded.

It never occurred to her that Winner was around.

'Even though Winner is here, I will not be afraid of them, ' she tried to stay confident.

"Jean, do you know? This is karma. After you bullied me with your boyfriend, God has given me the

chance to pay you back. What will you do now that you are alone? Will you run back to the ward to call

your lover who cannot even get up? Or are you ready to be slapped by me?"

With a smug smile, Shirley inched closer towards Jean. There was a menacing look in her eyes. She

twisted her trousers lightly with her fingers, as if she was twisting Jean, and was about to strangle her!

"No, I am enough for the both of you!" Jean grinned without any stage fright.
