Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman

Chapter 257 Who Is Behind All This

Chapter 257 Who Is Behind All This

With a whirlwind of emotions in her head, Jean held her knees and buried her head between her legs.

Having no energy to move, she just curled up on the carpet, and wept her heart out.

Drowned in great pain and desperation, she blankly stared straight and felt her own tears dropping

down her cheeks like rain. Without even realizing, she cried to sleep in the same position. As time

passed by, it became colder and colder and shiver ran through her body. It was the extreme cold that

woke her up from sleep.

Looking around, she found a trace of twilight had hovered over her head. 'I spent all night sleeping

here, ' she thought sadly.

All the crying she had done yesterday turned her eyes into puffy and red. The light that came from the ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

window made it hard for her to see clearly, so she squinted.

It was a rough night. She wished she could go back to sleep and forget all her worries.

Thinking about it made her want to cry all over again. She realized Zed had left her alone and left

ruthlessly without glancing behind.

Unfortunately, her tears failed to flow today. She felt yesterday's incessant and intense cry had made

her dry and there was no more tears left inside her.

'Jesse went to find Zed last night and didn't come back either, ' her mind spoke like it had a voice of its

own.

Under this situation, Jean couldn't afford to dwell on anything else.

She didn't blame Zed for his anger because she knew she would have reacted in the same way.

After all, Jean herself felt shocked when she glanced on the screen and saw herself with another man.

'Who is behind all this?

Eva? Or Jesse?

Or did they gang up against me?' Jean allowed her mind to dwell on these thoughts.

Worrying about it, Jean was totally perplexed. She closed her dry eyes, with nothing but bitter feelings

penetrating through her mind.

Although she didn't know who had framed her up, she was very certain that the fiend wanted to ruin her

relationship with Zed at all costs. The one that had set her up intended to break them apart.

As Jean thought of all these, her mouth twitched. A wan and bitter smile crept across her face.

'Why is life so hard for me?

Why is there always someone trying to break us apart?

No, I can't sit here and do nothing. I think its time for some action.

Zed is very angry with me. And now, Jesse is still not back yet. I can't put our marriage in jeopardy

anymore!'

She took a deep breath and got up wanting to do something rather than sulk around.

Sitting in this position for such a long time, she felt it hard to get up. Every part of her body felt sore.

She staggered and nearly tumbled down back to the ground. Luckily, the wall helped her from having a

full fall.

Jean hurriedly grabbed one leg of the table and made every effort to reach the door.

She stretched her limbs. Then, she slowly made her way to the bedroom.

After taking a warm shower, Jean felt a tinge of warmth pass her body. The hot water running across

her body made her forget her worries. Putting on neat clothes, she walked outside.

"Mrs. Jean..." Zelda rushed out of the kitchen and called out to her as soon as she saw Jean.

Without stopping to answer back, Jean directly walked out. She wasn't in the mood to talk, and needed

the sunlight more than anything else.

Being ignored, Zelda's face showed a little concern.

Zelda knew Zed didn't come back the whole night yesterday. After he went out, she saw Miss. Tang

follow him.

To sum it up, last night only Zelda and Jean were in that big villa.

'Mrs. Jean galloped away so early in the morning. Is she going to find Mr. Zed?

They are newlywed and very young, so it is normal for them to quarrel or argue with each other at

times. But I really hope that they won't go too far.' Such were the thoughts of Zelda who happened to

love the pair very much.

She stood staring for a while after Jean left with great concern. Then she went back to the kitchen with

a long sigh.

Jean called a taxi when she reached out. She got inside with a blank expression and planned the right

words to say to Zed.

'But where can I find him?' that question bugged her. She knew Zed didn't own many houses in the H

City. Moreover, he had only a handful of friends here apart from Zack.

He was so furious last night that he couldn't go to meet his friends, as that would be embarrassing.

His villa was very far away from his company. In addition, Zed had spent the whole weekend in the

resort.

According to her understanding about him, Zed wouldn't drive to his villa which was located very far.

Thinking of these puzzles, Jean decided it was the best to go to his office.

With resolution, she told the driver his office address and then closed her eyes to have some rest.

She thought she needed to calm down so that she could explain in a better way. The last thing she

wanted was to get tongue-tied and cry like a mess.

They arrived very soon and the driver parked the car outside the company.

It was Monday that day, but still very early in the morning, so Jean noticed the lobby was empty except

for security guards and a few employees.

She directly took the elevator to the top floor. As she arrived, she felt that the door was locked. At that

moment, she unconsciously became nervous.

Somehow, the closed door brought in some worry. Jean realized that Zed was unwilling to see her, so

he probably locked it.

Luckily, on a closer inspection she noticed it wasn't locked. She was astonished at the fact and blamed

her bad eyesight for playing tricks on her.

'Zed was so careless to keep the door open, although it was his own company, '

She muttered to herself with a smile now.

Jean took a deep breath before she pushed the door open and walked inside.

As soon as she entered the small living room, Jean saw that the roundtable was full of empty beer

cans. When she took in the scene, a mixture of complex facial expressions suddenly showed on her

face.

'Last night, Zed just sat there drinking these beers with anger… and it is my fault.' The scene brought

back the earlier nervousness.

Jean walked towards the table and intuitively picked up an empty can, immediately overcome by a

sense of guilt.

Last night, she blamed Zed for him leaving her alone at their big villa without giving her a chance to

explain to him.

But after seeing so many empty beer cans here and there on the table and the floor, Jean realized that

Zed had gone through a hard time too.

'I know that you were very sad, but how could you drink so much and drown your sorrow without

thinking about your own health?

You must be suffering a lot.'

Putting the empty can down, Jean decided to search for him.

As she pushed the door of the bedroom, she saw that the quilt was still folded neatly. It seemed that no

one had slept there last night. When this thought came to her mind, her face scrunched into a quizzical

expression.

'Where has Zed gone?

Didn't he sleep here last night? If not, then why are there so many beer cans?' Her mind swarmed with

questions.

Jean was a little confused and tried to come up with an answer.

A moment later, she felt something strange. 'Okay, Zed has come here and the cans are the proof to it.

He drank a lot, so there is no way he could have walked out.'

All of a sudden, Jean became very anxious and strode into the bathroom.

Finding that Zed was not inside, Jean hurriedly turned back and walked outside.

'Did Zed get drunk and mistakenly go to the next room?' Jean thought to herself.

Thinking of this possibility, she made her way and walked towards the next room without hesitation.

As she marched into the living room, Jean was thinking how to help Zed sober up, because he would

definitely have a headache after he woke up. Thus, she hurriedly got a bottle of mineral water out of the

fridge.

Like the other bedroom outside, the door of this room was also ajar.

At that moment, Jean felt relieved, as it seemed that Zed was really present here.

Jean gently pushed the door open with a wide smile.

As she pushed the door a little, Jean saw that Zed was lying on the bed and still fast asleep.

However, she was shocked to notice he held another woman in his arms.

Seeing this painful sight, all her hopes crumpled. She rubbed her eyes thinking it had to do something

with her eye-sight.

Unable to believe, she walked closer to the bed and was shocked to notice the woman in his arms.

Just now, Jean wondered why Jesse hadn't went back last night and this cleared up her doubts

'Jesse was missing because she had slept the night with my husband.' Jean's mind screamed with fury.

To her astonishment, they both looked quite comfortable and held close to each other. 'They slept

together!' her mind repeated and disgust crept across her body.

That bottle of water in Jean's hand suddenly fell onto the floor and broke into tiny fragments.

The two of them, Jesse and Zed, woke up in shock due to the noise and opened their blurry eyes.

"Jesse..." Zed muttered when he opened his eyes and saw Jesse's face. For a second, he thought it

must have been a dream.

Their gaze met when Jesse heard Zed's voice. She turned her eyes wide open in great amazement.

"Zed, " said Jesse.

Hearing Jesse's voice, Zed was stunned with his eyes bulging out. He came to his senses and realized

that it was not a dream. Thus, he quickly jumped out of the bed.
