Chapter 316 I'll Pick Her Up At The Hospital

"It is not up to me, Jean! Boss told me to put forward this information only if you sounded hesitant to

come. The intention here was to get you mentally prepared, so that you won't be too surprised by this,"

John explained sounding guilty.

'Mentally prepared?

This gave me the biggest shock of my life!

Sonny is worrying too much, but doing the exact opposite of what I want.

am still Mrs. Qi, no matter what has happened between me and Zed. With Zed's grandpa coming in

Now Jean remained silent because deep down she knew Sonny was her well-wisher. No matter what

Her unease magnified with these thoughts.

"Now that you have thought this through, go and have a good rest. Make some preparation for

tomorrow and then I will pick you up." John watched Jean's eyebrows twist due to anxiety. Worried as

he was, he didn't know how to comfort her at this moment.

"That's settled then, thank you." Jean nodded and watched John leave.

Left alone in the ward, she occupied herself with her thoughts and worries.

She was lost deep in thoughts when a nurse came in. The nurse pulled out a needle neatly and Jean

felt relieved suddenly. When the nurse left, Jean got up and rushed to the washroom.

She stood on the tip of her toes and reached for the envelope in the water pipe.

A look of sadness crossed her face as she never imagined that she would be needing this money so

soon.

Taking a deep breath, she took out part of the money, then she hid the rest in the same place.

It was already very late and way past her bedtime but her mind was unusually chaotic. No matter how

After knowing his grandfather was coming to H City tomorrow, Zed put down the chopsticks and looked

at Jesse in confusion. "Why did you do that? Don't you know that his health condition is very bad? Or is

"Zed, you misunderstand me," Jesse replied cutting Zed off. She went on and explained,"It is not me

who told grandpa about this incident, I swear."

"I know you would have never guessed it but Sonny is the culprit," Jesse replied bringing Zed back

from his thoughts.

When Jesse first heard about this, she herself was surprised.

"Sonny?" Zed's eyebrows twisted. "As far as I know, he is not a nosy man and never makes an

irrational decision. What happened to him?"

"How would I know?" retorted Jean. "Zed, now this is not about Sonny anymore. You need to prepare

"I know." Zed remained silent for a long time then he sighed,"I'm already overwhelmed by the things

I should blame him for scheming against me!"

"You can't blame him for that, Zed. You invested money in his company to help him out when he was in

trouble. Now something bad is happening in your life and he is just trying to return your favor."

Jesse faked a sigh and continued,"Though you didn't do any of it out of kindness, he is really grateful

about it."

"So, are you saying that this is all my fault?" Zed asked looking offended.

"You know that is not what I mean. Now forget it!What are you going to do? That is what I want to

know." Jesse looked at Zed, eagerly waiting for a reply. "I think you should go to the hospital and get

Jean back to the house! You can't let grandpa find out what's going on between you two."

Deep down, Jesse said this but didn't mean any of it. Hearing the suggestion, Zed neither agreed nor

disagreed. He just sat there silently like he was thinking really hard.

Anger rose from Jesse's heart when she realized he wasn't going to admonish her for this silly

The coolness on her face vanished and she spoke in a mocking tone,"I now understand the purpose of

Sonny's plan. After all, Jean is his protege. As her mentor, he certainly doesn't want his beloved

protege to divorce the one he values and appreciates the most. On top of that, he is aware that as long

as you maintain a husband-wife relationship, he and his company will have nothing to worry about."

"Jesse, what are you talking about?" Zed shouted in anger,"I know Sonny very well and you have no

"Where are you going?" Jesse followed him and shouted as Zed made his way to the garage.

"I'll go and pick her up at the hospital."
