Chapter 9: Art
Chapter 9: Art
After that heartbreaking moment for me, I quickly did my work and went straight home where I could
cry without anyone seeing or hearing. When I was finished crying over my sad life. I had to go and buy
groceries so I left the house, my mind in an unknown state, what the hell am I going to do? I knew there
is no way in hell will I ever sleep with him again but I also knew that he already paid me some of the
money.
I could terminate the contract.
I pause.
Of course, I couldn't if I am already pregnant based on what I see happening to my body. I really need
to buy a test to confirm if I was.
I sigh, what the hell was I thinking when I made that deal?
A better life for Josh.
Everything I ever did was to make my brother have a better life, I want him to be happy even if it cost
me my own happiness. I no longer have to worry about the money problem because made sure that
was all taken care of but now I have other things, like telling Josh what I did.
My phone beeped. I took it out of my pocket and read the text message.
I'm picking you up tonight at 8, wear something sexy.
I rolled my eyes and quickly typed. Sorry I can't, I have plans.
It was short and simple, he need not know about my non-existent plan was about. I want him to know
that I'll no longer be at his beck and call when he wants sex. I will tell him that since I'm pregnant there
is no need for us to continue having sex.
I'll see how he takes that.
I will not be his call girl.
Stopping at the pharmacy on my home, I picked up the first pregnancy test I saw. When I reached my
apartment quickly placed the grocery bags on the kitchen counter and made my way to the bathroom. I
quickly peed on the stick to wait three minutes for the result.
If the pregnancy test says that I'm pregnant then I'd be the best mom I could, I wouldn't make my baby
want anything especially love. I'd be like my mother; loving, caring and kind. I'd go to the parks and
take longs walks, go to the beach, teach him or her to swim and dance.
I looked at the bars, it confirmed what I had already known. Jade Brown, you will be having the
Billionaire's baby. I sighed, the test just made everything clear now. I'm going to a mother, going to
have a baby. I'm going to have a baby for a billionaire who called me a prostitute.
Great, just great.
"Jade, Jade. Are you here?" I jumped and the pregnancy text fell right out of my hands in the towel.
"Shit," I muttered. "Yes, I'm here. I'll be out in a minute." I closed my eyes then pushed my hands in the
towel and took out the test. I quickly wrapped the test in a towel paper and placed it in my side so Josh
wouldn't see. I washed my hands and then exit the bathroom.
"Hey, what's up?"
"Go put on your best dress."
"Why?"
"We're going out, there is a new gallery that is going to be opening tonight and I have some tickets so
we're going."
"Are we now?" I asked with my brows raised.
"Yes, we are. You're going to do this for me." It's a pity he doesn't know that everything I do is for him.
"Okay, I will go with you and afterwards we go out to dinner, seafood maybe and Cassie is coming."
"Deal" he smiled.
"I'm going to go call Cassie." I walked passed my brother and went into the kitchen with my cell in my
hands. I dialled her number and looked through the fridge, being pregnant is not easy. I'm hungry
around the clock.
"Hey, how are you?"
"I'm good, you?" She noticed my voice immediately.
"I'm bored, at home doing nothing."
"Then I called the right time. Josh wants to go to a gallery that's opening tonight and I want you to
come with us afterwards we go for seafood."
"Yes," she says in a joyous tone "I was dying for someone to come save me."
"Well consider yourself saved."
She laughs, "But what about the billionaire, not going to his place tonight?"
"Well, no. In fact, I'm never going there again. We do need to talk."
"Girl, what happened?"
"Put on your best dress and I'll tell you all about it, tonight."
"Okay, fine. I can't wait."
"We're picking you up at around 6:30 so be ready."
"I'm always ready." I laughed.
"No, you're not." Cassie was your real girly girl if you tell her to be there at 8 she's there at 8:30. I
laughed and hung up the phone.
By 6:00 pm I was in my purple knee lent dress with silver heels. My hair was done up with a roll. Had
silver earrings and a necklace. My makeup was done to perfection. I looked and the mirror at myself
and smiled.
I went out in the living room to find Josh in matching Purple Tuxedo
The perfect date.
I smile, "Looking, nice lil bro."
He laughs. "Right back at you big Sis."
"By the way how did you get tickets to this opening?"
He looks at me and smile. "I have my links, you should know that."
"Okay. I see. Let's go get Cassie before she decides to change her outfit because you know once she
starts She'll never finish.
"That goes for all woman.." He said picking up the car keys. When Josh and I are going out I always let
him drive.
He opens the door and I walk out. I wait as he locked the apartment door. I open the door that leads to
the step and starts walking with Josh in tow.
"No, I'm not like that." I defend myself.
"Well big sis, you're not like all woman. You are so much better."
I laughed. "Stop flattering me."
"It's true. None of the girls I've dated can ever come close to you. "You can cook, you care about other
people, you're not all about yourself. Great singer, the Worst dancer on earth." I laughed as he paused.
"But most of all you're the most honest person I know"
I took a slight halt in my walking. I wasn't being honest with Josh, I still haven't told him about my
pregnancy. It's not like I was lying but I wasn't telling about my deal and how I have money all of a
sudden. The questions he asks I try to push it past me but I knew the truth was bound to come to light
sooner or later especially since I'm pregnant. The was no way I could hide it because my tummy will
start to grow and it will show.
I sigh, I'll tell him tonight after dinner. There was no way he could be angry at me I was doing this for
him. He will understand he must. Having him in schools is one of my main priority and he knows that.
"Wow, this is one fancy gallery," Cassie stated as she eyed the other guest from head to the toe. "They
all dress so nice."
I leaned over and whispered. "That's because they're rich."
She looks at me and smile. "Remind me again how Josh got the tickets?"
"If only I knew. I didn't question him too much."
She moved closer to me, "Most of the paintings are really bad, why are they so expensive?" Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
"That's called abstract, honey. Some of them are worth millions."
"People really spend their money on this?" She asked surprised.
"Yes, rich people who have no sense of taste"
"Speaking of rich people, what happened with you and that hot hunk of a boss?"
I looked at the painting that was in front of us. Abstract the colours were all over the place yet it was
simply beautiful. Unlike my life. I turned to her. "I overheard him saying that he paid me for sex so he
might as well take what he paid for" How else was I supposed to put it? He made me feel cheaper than
the cups we drink from McDonald's. Like I was just the person he slept with and not a human, not a
woman who was going to have his baby.
"No freaking way," she said louder than she intended and had some of the guests looked at me. "What
a son of a bitch!" She said in a lower tone. "I can't believe he did that to you. There is no way you're
ever sleeping with him again and that is off."
I looked at her in a weird way.
"What?"
"The deal is already sealed, he already paid me half of the money and I already started spending."
"Well you have me, it can't be too much money, we can always save and pay him back."
"No use, its a million dollars, I haven't spend it all."
"Oh, my freaking gosh" louder and persons turn their head in our direction again.
"Can you not whisper?" I said annoyed. Didn't want the whole gallery to know my business.
"Oh sorry but that's a lot of money for people like me and you." She was so right. That was a lot of
money for a person in our economic standings. "How much have you spend?"
"Well, a few thousands.."
"Then you can pay him back.."
"Yea...but I'm not gonna pay him back."
"Why the hell not?"
"Because I'm already pregnant"
"No freaking way, you're having the baby of a billionaire jerk."
"Believe or not, I am. Now let's move to the other picture." I held her elbows and dragged her across
the room. In front of a painting of a naked woman without her head.
"Now this is something to look at" Cassie states. "Men just use our bodies as displays, shame on this
artist."
From behind us, a voice said, "That was painted by a woman, they all were. I can see that whoever
invited you didn't prep you."
Cassie and I lashed around to see who had the nerves but the face I saw first was not of the voice I
heard.
