Back in Time: Unshackling From Love (Mikayla Davidson)

Chapter 268

Chapter 268

Jerome remained quiet.

He took a tube of ointment from the table and gently applied it to her wrist.

These were the bruises left from being tied up last night. Though, now they have faded quite a lot.

When she was taking a shower earlier, she seemed to have smelled something similar. Did Jerome also apply the same ointment on her last night?

*The hospital is nearby. If you’re feeling unwell or in pain, we can stop by and get some medication,” Jerome said.

Mikayla’s cheeks flushed again. Though he didn’t specifically mention which area she wasn’t feeling well, they both knew what he was referring to.

She did feel a little sore and uncomfortable. Walking was quite painful for her, but she didn’t have the nerve to go to the hospital for this matter.

“I’m fine!” Mikayla said. Then she opened the door and walked out.

Perhaps Jerome noticed her posture wasn’t right, he quickly reached out and held her. He held her in his arms as they left the hotel.

Mike was waiting for them in the parking lot.

He lowered his eyes, not knowing whether it was because he saw the hickeys on Mikayla’s neck or

because Jerome was holding her.

“Mr. Miller, Mrs. Miller,” Mike greeted both of them. “This is Leo. He’s excellent at combat and driving.”

Leo greeted Jerome and Mikayla.

Jerome nodded. “You’ll be Mikayla’s driver from now on.”

Mikayla was puzzled. “Why do I need a driver?”

“It’s more convenient that way. He can also protect you,” Jerome calmly said. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

But Mikayla rejected. “There’s no need. What happened last night was just an accident. I don’t need a bodyguard or a driver. Even if I do, I’ll find one myself. You don’t have to bother.”

Mikayla was once again trying to set boundaries with him in front of others. Jerome was getting more and more annoyed.

He suppressed his emotions and coldly said, “You can use him for now and find someone else later.”

Mikayla didn’t pursue the matter further. She kept quiet and simply pushed Jerome’s hand away before getting into the car.

Leo drove them both, while Mike drove his own car. They all headed to the police station together.

Mikayla was able to retrieve her purse and phone. Jerome’s men found them for her.

Betty called as she switched her phone on. She heard about what happened last night.

“Mikayla, Johnny must be out of his mind! He actually pinned everything on you and even kidnapped you! I won’t let him off this time.” Betty gritted her teeth.

“I thought of letting him go because of the relationship we once shared before. But now that he’s gone crazy like this, I can’t let him cause harm to anyone anymore. I’ll report all his past deeds to the police and make sure he gets sentenced for several more years!” Betty added.

“Betty, you don’t have to become enemies with him because of me. He’s suffered enough because of what he did to me,” Mikayla said.

After all, they had been married for so many years and had children together.

“You suffered because of me. How can I turn a blind eye to it? I owe you too much. This time, I’ll make sure he spends the rest of his life in prison!” Betty insisted.

Knowing that Betty felt guilty, Mikayla let her be.

During her conversation with Betty, their car arrived at the police station.

Mike already notified the person in change. Mikayla was accompanied by Jerome as she made a statement of what happened last night.

After leaving the police station, Molly called to ask if they wanted to come over for lunch.

Mikayla smiled and refused, saying they would come after lunch.

“Let’s go back to the Dragoncrest Villa first. I need to change my clothes and put on some makeup,” Mikayla said to Jerome.

Jerome had no objection.

On the way back, Mikayla suddenly remembered something.

She said to Leo, “Can you check whether there’s a pharmacy nearby? Let’s stop for a while.”

Jerome looked at her. “What’s wrong? We could just go to a hospital.”
