Chapter 178
Chapter 178
How could she still be in the mood to advertise and enjoy herself? He thought about how he had treated her-he had doted on her and pampered her, just for it all to be in vain. She really didn't have a conscience, all she cared about was money!
Getting up, Frederick inexplicably felt agitated again.
She could clearly see that he was with another woman but still, she didn't give a d*mn and still had the mood to earn money? Was her brain fried? Has she given up on him, who was like a man of means, to work for that tiny bit of labor wage?
To women, he was like a piece of meat among a pack of wolves. How could she just ignore him? In her eyes, could he not even compare to that immoral jerk who was all talk that had abandoned her?
There were few things that could affect his emotions but at this moment, the messages he derived from the posts made him blow his top!
That night, holding back his anger, Frederick partied with Danica as he let himself go wild throughout the night..
The next day, photos of the two of them attending the party together were all over the news headlines; Master Clements’ new pet was once again the main topic. At the office, gossip all around Alicia was about Master Clements and although she tried to pretend to not notice, the good mood that she had that day came to an end.
For the rest of her day, she was in a sullen mood and the seeds of irritation started to grow quickly in her heart...
"When will days like this come to an end?"
For the first time, Alicia felt that life was long and tough. It felt like time had rewound to three years ago as if the road ahead was boundless and dark.
In the blink of an eye, it was already the weekend. Alicia didn't want to be bored at home, therefore she went to the hospital to visit her father. She should have gone to see Mrs. Clements; she had even already arranged a time for it. But at this moment, she suddenly didn't know how to face her under these circumstances.
That day, she was in a daze. She didn't even notice Marshall pass by.
Leaving the hospital, she tried calling a few friends to hang out and pass the time but she couldn't find anyone suitable after calling everyone!
Getting back to the car, she couldn't help but poke the rabbit doll hanging on the window angrily.
"It's such a bummer! I used to be so busy that I had to push away appointments but now I can't even find one companion! Even the heavens are against me, alas..."
Just as she was feeling down, her phone suddenly rang. "Yes, Director?"
"Alicia, do you have time today? Mr. Andrews of Skyler Group is going to receive a foreign merchant group today. I heard that there will be Russians and I'm not sure whether they brought a translator or if they can speak English. Therefore, I'm looking for a Russian translator with a good image and deft tongue to accompany them for the day and to dinner tonight! It'll be considered OT and you will receive double the pay! If you have the time, can you help me? I know that you're good at Russian and you have the best image!"
Hearing that it was a company she worked with before, Alicia recalled having a good impression of Mr. Andrews. She had been worried that she would be bored, hence she immediately cheered up.
"Since you think so highly of me, I will arrange my schedule to make time even if I don't have time! Leave it to me!"
After confirming the details, Alicia drove home to get prepared.
The dinner party was set in a high-end hotel and she arrived at the agreed place in advance. Alicia also helped to receive some businessmen. The other party did bring an interpreter but unfortunately, it was a half-chop, thus Alicia's role naturally came into play.
After arranging accommodations at the hotel, the whole lot went to a private room.
The welcoming dinner went very smoothly as both parties had a great time conversing. When the dinner was over, Alicia was a little red in the face from drinking and her mood had elevated considerably.
She didn't head for her car as she had a few drinks and she planned to wait for herself to sober up before taking a cab home. Just as she stepped forward, a familiar voice sounded behind her.
"Miss Blanchard-"
She turned around and saw Mr. Preston walking out with a small box in his hand.
"Hello, it's an honor to get to know such a pretty friend! I've had a lovely night. This is a small gift, just a small souvenir. I hope you like it!"
She saw that an image of a Faberge egg was painted on the box, which looked like a piece of artwork. Alicia knew that Faberge eggs were very famous in Russia and should not be too expensive, therefore she accepted them.
"Thank you! I like it very much. It's also a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Preston!"
With this, she reached out for a handshake.
The man was charming and cheerful. He smiled and said, "Can I give you a hug?"
Alicia retreated her hand and nodded with a smile. The man then gave her a big hug and kissed her on the cheek politely.
"You're welcome to have a holiday in Moscow! I'll receive you warmly too!"
In the end, the two shook hands and then parted ways. Watching the man walk away, Alicia subconsciously reached out to wipe her cheeks. In fact, she was not used to kissing etiquette.
Just as she raised her hand, a tall figure came into sight without warning. At this moment, just a few steps away, Jeremy stared at her with a fierce look in his eyes, his expression gloomy!
Rolling her eyes, Alicia jerked the corner of her mouth coldly. Who had she even provoked? Why was everyone giving her looks? What did she do? She didn't owe them anything!
"F*ck off!"
Putting the gift in her purse, Alicia cursed under her breath and turned around. She planned to take a bus before taking a cab home.
As soon as she moved, a hand caught her wrist. "Who is that man? What is his relationship with you? Why did he give you gifts?"
Feeling the pain in her wrist, Alicia felt baffled. She looked up and sneered at him.
"Gosh, Jeremy Pitcher! Are you kidding me? Who the h*ll do you think you are? Who are you that I have to report to you what I do and with whom?"
Did he have a loose screw?
Jerking off his hand forcefully, Alicia felt extremely agitated and roared at him.
"Look at me! I'm Alicia Blanchard! The woman you abandoned and despised the most! I'm not Lindsay Crouch, who's carrying your child!"
In a split second, Jeremy suddenly hugged her tightly. "Ally..."
His voice was deep and he sounded like he was in pain. His eyes fell on the glimmer on her ears. Every time he looked at them, it was like a sharp knife stabbing into his heart. The past memories and Lindsay's womb were two sides of his heart, entangled and pulling at each other. Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
When Alicia pushed him away with all her strength, she was completely enraged. She swung her bag and threw it at him. "What are you doing? What the f*ck? If you touch me ever again, I'll report you to the police!"
"You b*stard! What am I to you all? Am I a little puppy? Come when called and go when chased?" she thought to herself, irritatedly.
Pointing at him, Alicia absolutely lost her temper.
"Jeremy Pitcher, listen up! I hate you to the extent that I want to murder you! No matter what kind of past we had, since the first day I met you, I have never done anything unfaithful to you. I came to you with a sincere heart, wholeheartedly learning cooking, sewing, and I even gave up on wearing my favorite mini skirts. I wanted to become the person of your desires; being a good wife! How did you repay me? You destroyed everything! You pushed me away! I am in this state of life because of you! Why come pester me again now? Are you trying to make up for what you did? Or are you trying to ruin my life again?"
Alicia felt that she was so vexed that she was about to become hysterical.
