Chapter 26 Do you remember what I told you
Tina's POV:
Soon, me and my mother arrived at the Cater mansion.
It was located on a mountain near the coast.
Although the mansion is old, it was one of the most expensive estates in X City.
Even though the Cater family had countless properties all over the world, Old Mrs. Cater always lived in the old mansion.
During the holiday, Evan also comes back here to live with his grandmother.
We drove along the mountain, slowly getting into the lush greenery. Even the oxygen here was abundant and clean.
X city was a very busy city, and the air pollution was also serious. Nevertheless, this place is like an isolated fairyland.
As we reached at the gate, a handsome young guard stopped the car and asked warily, "What are you business here?"
My mother rolled down the window hastily and said with a smile, "It's me. I just got off the phone with your butler. I have an appointment with Old Mrs. Cater at ten o'clock!" "Oh, you must me Mrs. Walter," the young guard said as he opened the door.
Then, our car went through two more gates.
Finally, after driving for more than ten minutes, we arrived at the front yard of the villa.
There Old Mrs. Cater (Grace) butler, Jones is already waiting for us. Seeing us coming, he greeted, "Greetings, Mrs. Walter, Miss Walter."
He wore a neat tall coat and gold-rimmed glasses and looked polite and meticulous. He had been working here for over 30 years, and he was Grace's most trusted servant.
"Oh, dear, this place is huge! It's several times bigger than our house," My mother said.
I nodded. Even though I am also a young lady, I still couldn't help but be amazed by the splendid mansion.
Ten minutes later, the butler took us into the living room.
As I looked around the living room, my eyes widened. The living room was more like a banquet hall. It was large enough to hold a party for hundreds of people.
As I was looking around, my eyes fell on the old lady, Grace Cater, who was sitting on the sofa, with a white can in her hands. A pair of gold-rimmed glasses was placed on her nose and she was wearing a gown with a silk shawl on her shoulder. Looking at her noble and dignified figure, one could tell that she was a beauty when she was young.
"So nice to meet you, Mrs. Cater! It's been a long time!" Smiling obsequiously, my mother approached her to shake her hand.
However, Grace just sat there without even looking at her. It seemed as if she had no interest in shaking hands with my mother.
"Yeah, it has. Now, please, be seated," Grace said indifferently.
Smiling awkwardly, my mother quickly took out the gift she bought and handed it over. "Here, this is our gift for you, Mrs. Carter. A small token of our appreciation. Please, take it."
"Oh, you are so kind," she said and turned to speak the maids aside, "Get some tea for guests!"
Then, she lowered her head and patted the head of the cat in her arms, showing no interest in taking the gift at all.
My mother put down the gift on the coffee table, and then both of us sat down stiffly.
The maids walked over and poured us teas.
"So, um, is Evan back from his business trip?" My mother asked tentatively.
Grace raised her eyebrows slightly. "Yeah, he is not back until tomorrow," she replied with an aloof voice.
"Oh, well... then will he..."
"Why are you here today, Mia?" Grace interrupted her, "Let's just cut to the cheese here."
Hearing that my mother laughed dryly and answered sheepishly, "Nothing important. I just thought I should stop by and visit you. Because, you know, Tina misses you so much. She is always telling me she is coming to see you..." Hearing that, Grace's lips curled up into a sneer, and her sharp eyes turned to me. However, I was too nervous to make eye contact with her and quickly lowered my gaze.
To be honest, was not always like
this. In the beginning, I tried to impress Grace. I acted like an innocent, maiden, pretended to be sensible, and even tried to do things as a virtuous girl did. But all my attempts failed.
Grace just didn't buy it at all.
"Oh, well," said Grace rising from her seat. "Since you have no important matters, I will go upstairs and take my afternoon nap." However, my mother stopped her.
"Please wait a minute! Yeah, um, I do have something to discuss with you. I am just embarrassed to say it."
Grace sneered, "Then perhaps you shouldn't say it at all!"
My mother was speechless by her response and clenched her fists angrily. But on the surface, she still maintained a smile.
"Uh, well... it's about Evan and Tina. You see, they have been dating each other for too long. Maybe it's time for them to get married?" Grace frowned but didn't say anything.
I was rubbing my fingers nervously. In X city, normally it was the groom's family who took the initiative to talk about the wedding. However, given the circumstances, I should only ignore the tradition as long as I could be Evan's legal wife.
My mother looked at silent Grace
and grinned sheepishly, "The sooner

can have children. Imagine that Grace, you will have a great-grandchildren!"
Grace twitched her mouth as she replied coldly, "You should discuss this with Evan. I don't have a problem with when he'd like to get married."
"Right, right, but young people don't like to bother themselves with these matters. As their guardians, we have to make arrangements, don't we? And..." However, before she could finish, Grace stood up and said, "That's enough, Mia! I'm tired. Beside Evan is not a kid anymore. He can make his own decision!" "What? But, Mrs. Carter I..."
"Jones, see the guests out."
My mother looked anxious and wanted to say something when the butler stood in front of her, and blocked her.
"Mrs. Walter, Mrs. Carter is not well and needs to rest. She can't be disturbed. Please allow me to see you out." "Fine..."
Left with no choice, my mother and I left the house.
Evan's POV:
After hearing that they were gone, I came out of my bedroom. I came back from a business trip yesterday. But I didn't want to see Tina, so I lied to her that I would come back the day after tomorrow.
"Humph, those two clowns thought we Caters were a bunch of idiots!" Grandam snorted with a sneer.
Seeing her like this, I walked over, put my arms on her shoulders, and said, "Grandma, why are you so prejudiced against Tina?" "How can she be any better with her mother when her mother is a woman like that? Like mother, like daughter!" Grandma replied. I looked at her and sighed. I know she disliked every part of Mia.
She might be old enough to fight in front, but behind the scenes, Grandma was the one who had full control of the Cater Group. After all, an incapable old lady could not help her grandson up to the most successful entrepreneur in the city. "Grandma, Tina is not like her mother at all. They are not the same. You can't just..." I tried to convince my grandma. However, her face sank more as she interrupted me, "Do you remember what I have told you? Have you done it?" I look confused, "Done what?"
"Oh, you silly boy, Anya's kids! Haven't I told you to invite Anya and her sons over. I like to see them!" Hearing that, I froze, at a loss for words.
