Betrothed To The Mafia Lord

Chapter 219

Chapter 219

Sofia’s POV

Kayla called out instantly as soon as our eyes locked and I beamed at her and felt Luca’s hand release

mine, indicating that I could go over to her if I wanted to. Kayla was already on her feet when I made

my way over to her side and we exchanged a deep hug instantly, and I held her against me tightly,

loving how she didn’t find thst weird and instead tightened her hold around my body as well. We broke

the embrace after a few minutes and stared into each other's faces. The lights from the walls around

this particular side of the roof were so bright that it felt like we weren’t on the roof of a building at all.

I pulled her hands in mine and smiled at her and she returned the smile immediately, mirroring the

excited expression on my face, I had a feeling she was trying really hard to keep her over enthusiasm

on a lowkey tonight, which I find really cute and endearing because I know without even thinking, that

she was going to crack before we’d be done with dinner tonight.

“I missed you, Sofia.” Kayla breathed out and I breathed out a small laugh.

“We literally texted today, Kay.” I pointed to her on a small huff and watched as she rolled her eyes

almost immediately before tugging one of her hands from mine, and I watched as she used her finger

to stroke them over one of her artificial eye lashes, which I had a feeling had been trying to get into her

eyes.

“Aw c’mon, you know it’s never the same as the both of us speaking in person.” She replied and I most

definitely couldn’t agree more with her on that. But knowing the kind of life I has lived, I was still super

glad and grateful about the fact that I could be able to talk to her on the phone, through text or calls.

“You’re right, we most definitely can’t hug each other through our phone screens.” I said to her as I

reached down and smoothened my hand over the side of my gown in the next second.

“Exactly! I also can’t be able to thoroughly admire your beautiful face like this in person. Have I ever

told you about the fact that video calls don't do any single justice to your beauty? Because you look so

much better in person.” She asked after a few seconds and I started to nod my head as I felt my

cheeks heat up a little,

“Yes, you have a couple of times, along with him.” I said to her with a warm smile hovering over my lips

and nodded my head at Luca at the end of my statement, and I watched as her face spread out in a

grin just as she turned around to also stare at my husband.

She leaned into me with both of our eyes locked on the three men all up on their feet on the other side

of this rooftop, probably speaking about something they wouldn’t want us to listen in on.

“Your husband really is hot, like damn.” Kayla mused beside me and I almost choked on my spit in that

particular moment. I was lost on what to say for a few seconds but finally ended up agreeing with her,

because he really was smoking hot, even though I didn't approve of her speaking about my husband

that way directly in my face.

Yes, he was hot, but that was very obvious enough, she didn’t have to say it like she was checking him

out more than she was supposed to.

And wasn’t she married as well?

A part of my mind urged me to let go of that particular statement because I knew about the fact that she

wsss married and also really in love with her husband, and might have just that statement as an honest

compliment and nothing more.

That thought which was currently floating around in my head managed to calm me down a little, but it

didn’t manage to put out the petty feeling and urge in my insides, and in tne next second, I was also

leaning into her the way she had done to me, before starting to speak.

“Your husband looks so good looking, and his suit color compliments his eyes so well.” I said to her,

and I felt her turn her head around to stare at me, but I pretended like I wasn’t feeling her gaze on the

side of my face, still keeping my eyes straight ahead of me, where the men were still huddled around

each other.

“Your husband as well, his grey eyes…” She had started to speak after a few more seconds but i urned

around towsrgs her and stared at her blankly, making her trail off on what she was staring to say.

“Stop it.” I said in a small but firm voice.

“Relax, Sofia. I honestly didn’t mean it that way, I honestly complimented him at first, but when you

made that statement about my husband, it was so obvious that you were trying to get back at me.”

Kayla replied, lifting her hand to wrap around her waist. The braids she had on looked really good on

her and the length of the braids were a long length, way past her waist and way longer than the length

of my really long hair.

“I just assumed. I understand the fact that you’ve always found my husband attractive, and the fact that

you’ve also been following his Instagram for a long time now.,. But that felt really disrespectful to me

and I honestly do not appreciate it.” I said to her, lifting my hand up to card through my strands as I

puffed out a small breath. Kayla stared at me quietly after I was done speaking, and when the silence

started to drag out between us, I started to wonder just if I had spoken too much back then.

Kayla started to move closer to me when I had been about to apologize and she took my two hands

into hers, and I moved my lips a little as I felt the cold of her palm press into my warm and smaller

palms.

“I’m so sorry, Sofia… I honestly never thought of it that way, and now I feel really awful.” Kayla started

to say. I tried to convince her that she wasn’t bad and shouldn’t feel awful but she started to speak as

well, making me swallow my words down as I gave her more room to talk.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

“Honestly? If someone had said that same thing about my husband to me, right there in my face, I’d

have also gotten angry and jealous. I just never saw it from your own point of view until this very

moment, and also when you made that statement about Travis’s suit suiting his eyes…” She continued

to speak but I cut into what she was saying along the way, as I tightened my hold on her.

“Relax, Kayla. I’m not even angry.” I said to her, trying to calm her down when she kept trying to speak.

“I’m glad you were able to see it and understand it from my own point of view. I mean, I was also

complimenting your husband as well, but you could also see the way you felt attacked, that was exactly

how I felt… or even more? Because you follow him on Instagram and every other social media and

there’s nothing I can do about it, not that I want to do a thing about it, by the way. I’m just saying.”
