Chapter 13 Be Obedient
"You're thinking too much!"
Gwenyth grabbed Nancy's wrist in anger, trying to pull her hand away from her hair. But Nancy refused to let go. Once Gwenyth put forth more strength, she would feel a sharp pain in her scalp.
"Miss Shandy, can you let go while I'm willing to politely talk to you?"
"I don't want to talk to you! I came here to teach you a lesson!"
Nancy violently pushed her head into the sink and then turned on the faucet.
When Gwenyth struggled to get up, Nancy held her head with all her might and even pressed her upper body on her back, making her unable to move. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Her hair was quickly wet, and more and more water accumulated in the sink. When it almost reached her mouth and nose, she took a deep breath and held her breath. Knowing she couldn't hold on for long, she moved her hands away from the sink and stretched them backward. When she touched Nancy's waist, she pinched it hard.
"Ah!" Nancy screamed in pain and moved aside to dodge it.
Gwenyth instantly straightened up, wiped the water off her face, and ran to the door while panting heavily.
When she opened the door, Nancy was still yelling, "You can't get away with it."
Gwenyth had often been beaten by debt collectors for the past four years. The scar on her calf had been cut by them with broken glass, and she had bled a lot then. So, she was sturdy and could
stand punches.
But when she thought of Nancy's insulting words, her eyes turned red, and tears welled up.
She sniffed hard to keep her tears from falling and quickly fixed her clothes and messy wet hair. Then, she returned to the private room and sat down in her seat.
Seeing her embarrassed look, Edison guessed what had happened. Her hair was dripping, and the collar of her dress was a little wet. Noticing the director and producer leering at her, he stood up, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her out in big strides.
As soon as they walked out of the private room, they bumped into Nancy.
"Eddie!"
"You crossed the line!" Edison said with a sullen face while walking past her with Gwenyth.
Seeing him tightly gripping Gwenyth's wrist, Nancy felt furious. Why was he caring about a woman he had money to hire? She had not crossed the line but just taught her a lesson! She was so angry that she chased after them.
Edison walked quickly. After pulling Gwenyth out of the restaurant, he directly pushed her into the car.
When Nancy caught up with them, she saw him wiping the water off Gwenyth's face with a tissue in the car. The window was down, so she saw him staring at her with a frown without noticing her presence at all. And she could see he was not pretending to care about Gwenyth.
Nancy froze in a daze, thinking they might have had sex last night. She had known Edison for three years and dated him for half a year, but he had never slept with her. Had he slept with Gwenyth? Did he really like her? Or had he hired Gwenyth to piss her off?
Last night, Edison's hands had reached into Gwenyth's shirt in the private room at the Night Charm Club. But he had never done such things to her.
"Nancy, widen your eyes. She has a better figure than you. I will have nothing to lose if I marry her."
Edison's angry words were ringing in her ears.
Gwenyth was just a lowly room attendant. So, he would never fall in love with her. Moreover, the Yates family would never allow him to marry an ordinary person with no distinguished family background.
Was it because he liked Gwenyth's body? After all, she had big breasts and a beautiful buttock. But Nancy did not think her figure was inferior to Gwenyth's.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. So, she walked to Edison's car and said, "Eddie, you are..."
But he rolled up the window before she could finish her words.
Then, he started the car and quickly drove it away under her gaze.
In the rearview mirror, Gwenyth saw Nancy blankly standing on the side of the road as if her soul had been taken away. Then, she withdrew her gaze and turned to look at Edison who was focused on driving.
"You knew Miss Shandy was coming tonight, right?"
Edison ignored her words and stepped on the accelerator.
The car was running fast. However, it was not heading to the community where she lived but going in the opposite direction.
"Where are we going?"
Edison turned on the music, drowning out her voice. So, she turned her face aside and silently looked at the rapidly receding street scene outside the car window.
Half an hour later, the car entered a high-end residential area and stopped in front of a villa.
"Where are we now?"
Edison pushed open the car door and swung his long legs out.
"Follow me."
"Here is far away from my home. How can I go back later?"
There would be no buses and subways soon, and the taxi fee must be expensive.
"I can ask my driver to send you home."
Seeing her motionlessly sitting in the car, he walked to the passenger seat, opened the door, unfastened her seat belt, and dragged her out.
When he held her hand tightly and forcibly pulled her into the villa, the motion sensor light in the entrance went on.
He took out his slippers from the shoe cabinet and put them on, saying, "Make yourself at home."
"Why did you bring me here?"
"I have something to tell you."
Edison turned on the light in the living room, quickly walked into the bathroom, and came out with a white towel in his hand.
Gwenyth didn't have slippers, so she walked inside in her high heels.
Edison handed her the towel and motioned for her to sit down.
She wiped her hair and cautiously sat on the sofa, asking, "What do you want to say?"
"We will go to the racecourse tomorrow, so we have to get up early. I think you'd better sleep here tonight. It will be more convenient for us to go there together tomorrow morning."
Gwenyth was at a loss for words. She had never stayed out all night. If she did not go back tonight, her mother would be anxious.
"No."
She must go home.
Edison was too lazy to talk nonsense with her, so he coldly reminded her, saying, "I hate people saying no to me the most."
"When will you set off tomorrow morning? I promise I won't be late."
"This matter is unnegotiable. You know what will happen if you are disobedient."
"Edison..."
"You will sleep on the sofa," he said before turning around and walking upstairs.
When Gwenyth came back to her senses, he had disappeared from her sight. She helplessly sighed and took out her cell phone to call her mother.
Ursula quickly answered the call and asked, "Gwen, it's late! Why haven't you come back?"
"Mom, my colleague has an emergency at home. So, I must pinch-hit for her."
She was uneasily telling the lie and couldn't help feeling a little depressed. After all, once a lie started, she might use countless lies to patch it up.
Ursula thought Gwenyth was well-behaved because she had never done anything out of line. If she knew her daughter was pretending to be Edison's girlfriend for money and had been beaten and scolded by his ex, she would feel extremely sad.
