Chapter 572
Chapter 572
Avery mercilessly slapped Finn’s hand away. “I won’t get together with a monster like you.”
Finn’s expression darkened for a moment.
But then, he said lightheartedly, “Then, you’d better think carefully about who you want to work with. Me, or those pieces of trash.”
Avery tightly clenched her fist and frowned at Daphne, who was still crying in the surveillance video.
She had thought that Daphne could make Caroline disappear forever with the help of the Collins family.
But she hadn’t expected Daphne to be this useless. Not only did she fail to hurt Caroline, but she had also improved Kirk and Caroline’s relationship.
Thinking of the dinner they had had to celebrate Caroline’s recovery, Avery wished she could head to Easton and kill Caroline herself. However, she couldn’t do so.
Kirk had given her strict orders. If she dared to show up in Easton, the relationship between the Mendeleys and Morrisons would be over. If that happened, she would never have a chance with
Kirk. Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
After taking several deep breaths, Avery looked at Finn mockingly.
“You might as well give up. I won’t ever work with you,” she spat. Then, she walked out of the
room.
Finn smirked as he watched her leave the room.
“Oh, dear Avery. You won’t be able to handle her alone.”
He looked down at Caroline’s photo on the file as he spoke, and he smirked even more.
His younger brother, who had never been interested in women, seemed to be in love with the
woman in this photo. When people had a weakness, it became much easier to deal with them.
Caroline shivered in her sleep and opened her eyes, only to find that it was still dark outside.
“What’s wrong?” Kirk asked. He opened his eyes immediately after Caroline did.
“Nothing,” Caroline said. She just felt a chill all of a sudden.
She picked up her phone and looked at the time. It was already past 5:00 am.
She opened ner messages and found that Gwen hadn’t texted her last night.
She sat up with a groan, and the blanket slid off her shoulders, revealing the tightly packed hickeys on her shoulder blades.
Kirk hugged Caroline with his strong arms.
Caroline looked at him and said worriedly, “Gwen didn’t send me a text last night.”
Kirk smiled and took Caroline’s phone. “You don’t have to worry when Sean is around. He definitely would have taken Gwen home safely.”
“I’m not worried about that.” Caroline pulled the blanket.
She said, “I’m just worried that they-”
Before she could finish, her phone rang. She glanced at it and saw a text message from an unknown number.
“When are you free to visit Grandpa?”
Caroline frowned. It took her a while to realize that this number was probably Eddy’s. Resisting the urge to block him, Caroline asked, “Eddy?”
The sender quickly replied, “Yes.”
Caroline pondered for a while and asked Kirk, “I plan to find some time to visit Grandpa in the next few days. Do you want to come with me?”
Although she hated the Morrisons, Jude was the one person she didn’t hate and was very grateful
for.
Kirk’s brows furrowed almost imperceptibly at her words. “Why do you want to visit him all of a sudden?”
“It’s not a sudden thought. It has been a while since I’ve seen him, so I want to visit him. And I heard he has been in bad health recently.”
Kirk sat up and pondered for a moment. He replied, “Then, I won’t go with you.”
