Chapter 615
Chapter 615
The Morrisons had long been looking forward to Caroline bringing new life and increasing the family’s numbers. That was why Edith had worked hard to make a nursery for Kirk and Caroline.
Wasn’t it foolish of Kirk to get rid of that room? Even if they didn’t need this room now, they would need it sooner or later.
“Sir, listen to me-”
“I’m ordering you to get rid of it!” Kirk’s expression was already grim.
Caroline returned to her senses and gave Kirk a soft smile. “No, it’s okay. Did you do this, Ms. Carter?”
“Yes.” Edith dared not look at Kirk, so she answered Caroline’s question.
“Madam, do you not like this room? I can change it if you don’t.” After being yelled at by Kirk, Edith had already forgotten what Caroline had just said.
“No, I like it very much.” Caroline smiled gently.
She turned to look at Kirk and whispered, “I really like it. I mean that.”
Kirk’s expression noticeably relaxed at Caroline’s words. He said to Edith, “Head back downstairs.”
Edith was still confused, but she quickly nodded and left.
After Edith left, Kirk hugged Caroline sadly and said, “Tomorrow, I’ll get the agency to redecorate
the room.”
“Don’t be like that.” Caroline sulked in Kirk’s arms.
“Ms. Carter doesn’t know about my inner conflicts. She’s doing this out of kindness. Don’t blame
her. Also-”
Caroline raised her head and looked at Kirk with bright eyes. “Between you and me, I often feel
some sort of maternal love from Aunt Mary.
“I don’t know if she’s projecting her issues onto me or if she really sees me as one of her own. But I
always feel loved whenever I’m with her.
“So I don’t feel as scared as before… to have a child.”
She looked at Kirk mischievously, feeling like she had him in her grasp.
Kirk pinched Caroline’s nose. “You little devil. You must be so happy to know that I’m worried.”
Caroline let out a whine, “Let me go!”
Kirk let go and trailed his hands to her hips. “Then, shouldn’t you make it up to me?”
Caroline pushed him away. “I’ve done nothing wrong. Your boss is clearly the one at fault here. If you really want someone to make it up to you, go to him.”
After that, Caroline strode toward the next room. Kirk had no choice but to follow her. The next room they arrived in was the study, which had been nicely remodeled.
Caroline excitedly pushed open the next door but was stunned when she saw the furnishings.
Kirk, who was walking behind Caroline, immediately noticed something was off with her.
He stood behind her, and his expression darkened when he saw what was in the room. He yelled, ”
Ms. Carter!”
Edith heard Kirk’s noise from downstairs and responded, “Is something wrong, sir?”
“Come up here,” Kirk said sternly.
Edith thought carefully. She recalled to make sure that she hadn’t made any mistakes. Then, she
climbed up the stairs.
“What’s wrong, sir?”
When Edith saw them standing at the door and refusing to enter, she curiously looked into the
room. This room was a nursery she had specially renovated.
“Sir, is there something in this room that’s not to your liking? If there is, I’ll make changes
immediately,” Edith said excitedly.
However, Kirk rained on her parade. “Get rid of this room immediately.” This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
Edith froze for a long while before she stammered, “W–Why?”
