Chapter 670

Chapter 670

Yvonne didn’t need Caroline’s opinion either and continued venting her repressed frustrations.

“I like him. I really do. I’ve been secretly in love with him since we were kids. Although everyone said he was an illegitimate child and wouldn’t be useful to the family, I couldn’t stop myself from falling in love with him.”

Yvonne contínued, “When he agreed to be set up with me, I thought he liked me too. But it turns out he already likes someone else.”

Caroline remained silent until Yvonne was done ranting. Then, she said, “You should get a good night’s sleep. Perhaps then you won’t feel so awful when you wake up the next day.”

“Really?” Yvonne murmured.

Caroline kept the call on until she heard the sound of snoring. After that, she ended the call.

“Why did your call take so long?” Kirk had gone to work upstairs so as not to disturb Caroline. But he hadn’t expected more than an hour to pass by before Caroline hung up the phone.

“She just had a breakup, so she needed to vent her feelings.”

Caroline felt distressed after listening to Yvonne’s heartbreaking rant. She felt sorry for everyone who suffered from their romantic relationships.

She and Kirk were really lucky to have come this far, but she didn’t know how long their luck

would last.

She no longer had nightmares. However, whenever she felt any hint of happiness, she would hear a sharp voice saying, “Caroline, you’re absolutely heartless!”

“Darling …”

“Huh?” Caroline returned to her senses. “What’s wrong?”

Kirk followed Caroline’s line of sight and looked over. Then, he stepped forward to block Caroline’s

line of sight and suggested, “Why don’t we move back to the apartment for a while?”

“Why do you want to move back? We’re doing fine here.”

Kirk answered, “A small home is cozier …”

He wrapped an arm around Caroline’s waist. “We should live there again, darling. I want to have more privacy with you.” Material © NôvelDrama.Org.

Caroline couldn’t help but chuckle. “Sure.”

She knew very well why Kirk suggested moving away. Jude had died here, and he feared staying here would trigger her.

The next day, Caroline and Kirk had just moved back to their apartment when Caroline got a call from Yvonne.

Yvonne was in a much better mood than yesterday. She apologized, “I’m really sorry about yesterday, Caroline. I … How about this?

“You wanted to buy my brother a gift, right? I’ll take you out to buy one and treat you to a meal as an apology.”

“It’s really okay. Everyone has their bad days.”

“No, I have to treat you to a meal,” Yvonne insisted.

Seeing that her goal had been achieved, Caroline didn’t refuse anymore. After deciding on a time and place with Yvonne, she told Marietta what had happened.

On the phone, Marietta was very grateful to Caroline. “Thank goodness you took action, Carrie. Otherwise, I would never be able to get the DNA test done.”

“Haha, you’re welcome, Mom. It’s what I should do. I’ve been looking forward to you meeting your daughter.”

Caroline was telling the truth. She would no longer have Marietta’s love for herself.

But she hoped that Marietta could find her daughter more than anyone else. After all, she knew how hard it was not to have the love of a parent.
