Chapter 85 I'll Jump
Louis looked up and saw Blanche nervously biting her tender lip, her slender legs trembling uncontrollably.
He narrowed his elongated eyes.
"Fine! Release her immediately, and I'll jump."
Blanche's ears twitched. "What? Did I mishear? Is he going to jump off the cliff to save me?" she wondered.
The villain immediately became excited. "Really? Then hurry up and jump!"
"Don't come any closer! Even though you promised to jump off the cliff, you can't approach me. Stop!"
Seeing Louis still approaching them, the villain panicked and quickly pulled Blanche back. The anger on Louis' face was overwhelming, and even with Blanche as a hostage, the villain still couldn't keep his calm.
"You let her go first. I've examined the terrain here, and ahead is the most dangerous part of the cliff. If I jump from there, I will undoubtedly die," Louis said, raising a finger and pointing to the cliff edge next to the villain and Blanche.
"No way. After you jump, I will release her."
No one would believe such words. Even Blanche, who was terrified and at a loss, wouldn't believe it. If Louis jumped, she would be killed immediately.
"Don't come any closer. Just jump right there."
Louis didn't listen at all but continued to approach. The villain became even more panicked and hurriedly pulled Blanche back.
With a bang, the villain suddenly stumbled on a rock behind him. Both the villain and Blanche fell to the ground. Seeing this, Louis immediately rushed over and pulled Blanche up to retreat.
The villain quickly got up, but it was too late. Blanche had already been saved. He was filled with despair and anger, his eyes wide open, and he raised his knife and lunged forward.
"I'll fight it out with you."
Louis kicked the knife out of the villain's hand. With a crack, the villain clutched his arm and howled in pain. The kick had dislocated his arm.
Louis finally had time to glance at the frightened Blanche. However, the villain picked up the knife and pounced on them again the next second. Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
"Watch out!"
The sharp tip of the knife came straight at Blanche as if piercing through her eye.
Louis hurriedly wrapped his arms around Blanche's waist, and at the critical moment, they managed to avoid the knife. However, in their haste, both of them lost their balance. Although they managed to dodge the blade, they were standing too close to the cliff. Then both of them tumbled off the mountain cliff.
A scream echoed through the valley.
...
As dusk fell, Blanche felt her shoulders being pushed and pulled. She groggily opened her eyes, feeling aching pain all over her body.
She saw the sky filled with golden lights, followed by a handsome face blocking the remaining light. The owner of this face appeared calm and composed.
"Are you awake?" Louis withdrew his hand from pushing Blanche's shoulder.
"Uh! Where are we?"
Blanche felt the roughness on her back and touched it. It was uneven small rocks.
Glancing around, all she could see were towering mountains.
"We fell off the cliff. Try getting up and see if you're injured."
Blanche looked at Louis blankly and shook her head, recalling what had happened earlier. The attacker lunged at them, and Louis helped her avoid the knife, but they lost their balance and fell off the cliff.
Blanche sat up and felt that all her bones were broken. It was painful and sore. She twisted her neck and took a glance at the steep slope. Closing her eyes, she realized they were fortunate to have fallen from the slope instead of the cliff. Otherwise, they would have been dead.
"What about the villain?"
Blanche looked around but couldn't find any trace of the villain.
Louis didn't answer Blanche's question. He wasn't in the mood to answer such trivial matters right now. At this moment, it was already getting late, and the pressing issue was how to climb up from the bottom of the cliff.
It was easy to fall, but not as simple to ascend.
Louis stood up straight, saying, "See if your phone works."
His phone was no longer usable, as it fell into the nearby ditch when they were falling.
Blanche reached into her pocket and found her phone, but upon turning it on, she discovered that there was no signal.
"No signal."
Louis didn't speak but looked up at the gorge. The dense jungle made the situation unfavorable. He began to walk forward.
"Follow me."
"Okay."
An hour later, the two stopped in a valley. Blanche sat on a rock, panting heavily, her delicate eyebrows furrowed.
"We won't be able to make it out, will we?"
They had found many paths that seemed possible to climb up, but after a while, they discovered that they were all cliffs and couldn't be ascended.
Now, it was getting darker and darker, and they could occasionally hear the howls of wild beasts. The path ahead was becoming increasingly indistinct.
Louis glanced at Blanche, who was sitting on the rock, exhausted and nervous. Then he vigilantly observed his surroundings and spotted a small cottage ahead.
"There is a cottage ahead. Let's go there first."
