Capture Her Heart After Marriage

Chapter 2 The New President

Chapter 2 The New President

“But… won’t that be a problem for you?” Alexia asked cautiously, squeezing her hands together to prevent them from shaking.

She worried it would look bad for her to take his car for work with their complex and embarrassing relationship.

“You can refuse my proposal if you wish. I’m not forcing you to accept it.” Chaim glared at her.

Alexia was so scared that she hurriedly stood up, “No, no, no! I didn’t mean that. I just said that nonsense! Let me have just a moment. I’ll grab my clothes and change quickly!”

As Chaim watched, Alexia ran upstairs in a panic and ran down gasping only a few seconds later.

Alexia returned to the table, stuffed the bread into her mouth, and finished it as fast as she could before he said a word.

She didn’t want to displease him after what happened earlier that morning.

After almost choking to death on her breakfast, she grabbed her bag, put on her high heels, and followed Chaim closely to the car.

When she got into the passenger seat and closed the door, his scent of a very masculine cologne tugged at her heartstrings.

With her reddening face, she couldn’t help recalling the “steamy dream” from the night before, her heart racing, not daring to say a word.

Chaim said nothing either the whole way.

After a half-hour drive, they arrived in the bustling downtown area where modern commercial buildings spread out before them.

Alexia pointed at an intersection in front of them, “I’ll just get out at that intersection. My company is right there.”

She didn’t want to suffer teasing from her colleagues due to the luxury car parked in front of her company.

“Here?” Chaim frowned lightly as he parked the car at the intersection.

“I’ve already bothered you enough today.”

Unbuckling the seat belt, Alexia was about to get out of the car.

However, Chaim called to stop her.

“What’s wrong?” Alexia asked hesitantly.

She removed her hand from the door handle and dumbly looked at her husband’s brow frowning in ponder, a thought haunting her heart.

Could… it be an apology? For his disregard and neglect in the past three years? Would he really apologize?

“I don’t want to have a child now.”

In her uneasy anticipation, the man slowly spat out a cold, cruel sentence, destroying all her fantasies.

“Huh?” Alexia wore a vacant face before understanding what he meant.

‘How could he say that with such a calm tone?’ she thought.

“It’s okay, I understand.” She tried her best to sound unconcerned, “I’ll take the contraceptive pills. Anything else?” Alexia asked cautiously, with a stiff smile.

“Nothing else.”

Chaim flexed his fingers and tapped the steering wheel, satisfied with Alexia’s answer, but also feeling a little uncomfortable.

He originally married Alexia for her unsophistication, as she was extremely different from those who wanted to marry him by getting pregnant using any means necessary. But why didn’t she want to get pennant at all? Did she really not care about him?

Chaim frowned as he suddenly realized his superfluous thoughts. Why should he care about what she thought? He might not have thought of her at all if it weren’t for her suitable bone marrow. They were originally from different social circles, after all.

Chaim pressed his lips together, while looking up at the woman with a pure face. It was difficult for him to mention his request for her to donate her bone marrow.

Suppressing the irritation in his heart, he spoke in an icy voice, “Nothing, you can go to work now.”

“Okay…”

Before Alexia could say something, the car started up again and simply disappeared from her sight.

She fought her disappointment as she struggled to control her messy hair in the wind, her smile slipping from her lips. She wouldn’t have married Chaim, and became Mrs. Lancaster, if master Lancaster didn’t choose her as the very person three years ago.

Now, they were married, and they had sex as husband and wife.

In the future, she would be a winner in life in memory of her story with her Mr. Right. She needed to be satisfied, not greedy!

She encouraged herself and soon calmed herself down. Until she checked her watch.

“Oh no! I’m going to be late!”

Not daring to delay any longer, Alexia ran into the building with her bag as fast as she could, avoiding everyone in front of her, and punched in at the last minute! She wasn’t late!

“Huh?” Looking around, Alexia discovered that all her colleagues were whispering quietly to each other about something.

She moved about the office suspiciously, and asked her best friend in a low voice, “Lynn, what are they talking about? Why aren’t they working?”

“Working? Who is in the mood to work now!” Lynn Cooper came over. “You don’t know? Several shareholders have dropped out! One of them ran off overseas with the company’s money overnight! We have no chance to recover it! The other shareholders have to sell their equities. There will be a new boss taking over the company soon. Who knows whether we can still work here.”

“They sold the company?” The news startled Alexia to where she felt uneasy. “Even if the company changed hands, the new president still needs employees working for him, right?.”

The thought of unemployment disturbed Alexia. After all, this was her first and only job so far. It would be a disaster if she lost it.

“Ah, I don’t know.” Lynn sighed. “These things depend on the new president’s decision, and we can only follow their instruction.”

“What are you still doing here?” The HR manager rushed over to them. “Go out to greet the new president, hurry!”

Alexia looked back and found no one in the office. Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Okay, we’ll go over there now.” Alexia put her bag down and pulled Lynn over to the lobby in a few quick steps.

As the saying goes, a new broom sweeps clean. If they were late, the new president could punish them as a warning to others.
