Chapter 8 Chase the Thief
Chapter 8 Chase the Thief
“Charlie crashed into another car, and now the car owner is demanding compensation!”
“What?” Alexia asked in surprise. “How’s Charlie? Is he injured?”
“He’s okay, but he needs to compensate the car’s owner soon. Oh, is there enough money on this card? You go to draw money quickly.”
Mrs. White avoided Alexia’s inquiry and urged her.
Alexia had no time to ask for more information before the elevator doors opened. Mrs. White gave Alexia’s bank card back, shoved Alexia into the elevator, and urged Alexia to hurry once again. When the doors closed, Alexia looked at the card in her hand. It was her salary credit card with nearly three thousand dollars on it.
When the elevator opened to the main floor of the hospital, Alexia went to the ATM in the hospital gift shop. She considered the consequences of withdrawing all her funds for a moment, but quickly pushed those thoughts aside when she thought of her brother.
Alexia grabbed the money and her card, putting it all away in her wallet. She was about to find Mrs. White, when a stranger rushed toward her and snatched her bag. After a few seconds, Alexia regained her senses and realized he robbed her.
“Stop! Help! That man just robbed me!”
“What’s the point in shouting here? Chase after him!” Mrs. White came and pushed her in exasperation.
Alexia hurried outside, but the thief ran so fast that he was already halfway down the street. Alexia watched in helplessness as the thief crossed the road and was about to run into the alley when someone grabbed the thief’s arm and threw him to the ground!
“Dare to rob a woman in public. Someone is rather cocky, isn’t it?”
The man was so skillful. He seemed to control the thief at ease with just a disdainful smile. Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
Alexia ran up and snatched her bag back, making sure everything was still there before breathing a sigh of relief.
“Thank you so much for your help. How can I repay you for your kindness?”
The man looked up and smiled, showing his amorous eyes under the neat and scattered bangs, and a charming and seductive mole under his eye.
“Please don’t worry about it. Helping such a pretty lady is my pleasure.”
Alexia’s heart skipped a beat before she realized she should call the police. She dug through her bag and pulled out her phone.
Realizing the situation he was now in, the thief hurriedly begged for mercy in horror. “I have returned the bag to you, so please let me go! I will never do it again!”
“Oh, so you do know the laws you broke. In that case, why did you snatch my bag? Did you really think you would get away without punishment?” Alexia spatted, “You look like a healthy man. But how could you try and steal near the hospital? Have you ever considered that this money might be used to save lives!”
Out of anger, she kicked the thief a few times in the ribs.
Watching Alexia go from helpless to merciless, Joseph Swift smiled at Alexia in interest. Finally a woman who wouldn’t suffer in vain.

At the same moment, in front of the hospital.
Chaim parked his car and checked the time, just in time for Alexia to be discharged from hospital. He stepped out of the car and strolled towards the hospital. For some reason, several troubling thoughts filled his mind and he couldn’t relax until he saw Alexia again.
After waiting for a long time, Aunt Song still hadn’t come downstairs yet. Chaim started worrying something was wrong.
Walking toward the Inpatient Department, a hurried woman stopped in front of him. He stared at her in frustration, slightly recognizing her but not caring enough to remember her.
“Lady, what’s the matter with you?”
“Chaim, it’s me! Don’t you remember me? I’m Aily’s mom!”
“It’s you?” Chaim looked at her and recalled her vaguely.
Out of respect for his elders, he asked, “Auntie, are you also coming for Aily?”
“Yes, ha-ha, you can say that.” Mrs. White’s attitude was weirder than he remembered. She didn’t dare to look directly into Chaim’s eyes.
Chaim frowned. He always felt that Mrs. White was hiding something.
“Auntie, where is Aily?”
“It makes me so angry to talk about it! Aily went to withdraw money for her brother and a thief came by and snatched it! I was so furious, I had Aily chase him!
“You are letting her chase the thief alone?” Chaim’s face darkened. ‘Could such a petite woman chase a thief?’ he wondered.
“I’ll go and see!”
Ignoring Mrs. White, Chaim walked towards the lobby downstairs, hoping to find Alexia.

In the police station.
After going to the police station with the police and making a record, it was late. Alexia had to rush back to the hospital to give her mom the money. Before leaving, she specially thanked the man who helped her.
“Sir, thank you again. I apologize for any trouble I may have caused.”
“Don’t worry, I was more than happy to help a woman in need.” Joseph smiled, his eyes curving up with his lips. “I heard your name is Alexia White just now, right? My name is Joseph Swift.”
“You’re too polite, Mr. Swift. I wish I could thank you more, but I still have some urgent matters to attend to. Please, let me treat you to dinner some other time.”
“What is so urgent that you don’t even have time to eat a meal?” Joseph asked, blocking Alexia’s path.
Alexia’s cheeks flushed. Her younger brother was still waiting for the money. But, Joseph’s expression was sincere and he looked like he really wanted to make friends with her.
The man had helped her so that she couldn’t upset him. “Mr. Swift, we—”
Alexia worried about how to explain the situation when a deep, familiar voice cut her off.
“You can speak with me, gentleman.”
