Chapter 89
Seeing that Paxton was becoming overly concerned with his girlfriend’s well-being and Sydney was almost hugging him he jumped in.
“I handled the situation already and Clara has been sent home at least for a week with no compensation that should be enough to calm her craziness down” Jaxton explained.
“Oh brother, you sure didn’t need to explain to me right you are a co-owner of the company too and whatever you did was for the betterment of the company trust me I love your judgments,” he said and then walked out of the room to curb the awkward situation.
As Paxton walked out of the office he just felt like he should have been the one to have saved Sydney, she looked scared when he entered although she tried her best not to show it he knew she was super scared and it was normal.
But what could he do? As Lydia had said he just had to behave like he wasn’t in love with her like he had been pretending.
His cousin understood what was going on but she too could not hurt one cousin to satisfy the other.
They were grown-ups and would know how to handle their shit together, twins always had their telepathy or something.
Getting back into his office he realised there was some sort of serenity and calm which came with the ultimatum Jaxton had set that afternoon.
Of course, there was a rule that had been set and he knew his brother hardly ever spoke of something wrong but looking at how the office was Paxton hoped there could just be something he could do to be as firm as his brother.
He was the calm type and the introverted one although he didn’t talk much and gia decisions where firm employees didn’t fear him as they heard Jaxton because of his ruthless side.
Slowly he took the elevator and went down he had an appointment he just remembered and if he went to his office he knew he would stop himself from going on this blind date his cousin had set up for him.
Since he had realised he was in love with the wrong person as she did air quotes she had decided to set her favourite cousin or one of her favourite cousins up for a blind date so his thoughts would change from Sydney to the new woman in the picture and that way nobody got hurt.
If only she knew.
Well, Paxton did not change from his work clothes as if she knew she called him up.
“Hey cousin, where are you?”, she asked while stuffing her mouth with a bagel she had just made.
” On my way to the date you set me up with,” he replied nonchalantly.
“Hey, don’t sound like if it’s that on you, you have got to have a woman of your own so you don’t ogle Jax’s woman” she reprimanded and he could picture her with her tiny fingers or his face.Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
“I don’t know why I feel you haven’t changed out of your work clothes”
“You guessed right honey,” he said.
“Oh come on, why can’t you dress to impress her she is a hot catch and you going with your work clothes would seem…”
“Like I am a business person and I am supposed to have important things in front of me but yet I am on my way to see a woman I have never met before” he cut her and the other line was quiet for a moment.
Just breathing and he imagined her doing some small pep talk to herself as Lydia hated when she was being cut short in between her sentences especially when she was trying to make a point she considered valid.
But as she said he was her favourite. cousin, so she had to bare with his excesses.
“Please be nice and be a gentleman towards her would you?” she begged.
“You know that is my charm and I would try to make you proud I promise you,” he said assuring her he would behave as he was going to meet the lady she had set him up with.
“What did you say her name was again?”
“For fuck sake cousin you have asked her name at least ten times today I hope you aren’t planning on doing that when you get there”
“Well you were the one who chatted her up as though you were a man right, so you should know what her name is her age and blah blah blah, I don’t see how this should be on me” Paxton complained he took a final turn to the supposed restaurant this lady bad so insisted they met at.
“She chose an exquisite restaurant for the first date which means she must be a beautiful boss lady don’t you think?” he asked his cousin who was still on the phone.
“She made mention of her being a CEO of a fashion company and well she sounded logical,” Lydia said.
“Oh, that makes sense someone just like Sydney who is working-minded and intellectual” he compared immediately realism g what he had done.
Before she could start with her numerous questions as to why he brought Sydney into the topic when they were talking about another beauty of intelligence and poise he dropped the call.
Walking into the restaurant he looked around and noticed a curvacious lady standing and waving to him to walk towards her.
“Damn she’s beautiful” Paxton muttered under his breath before he finally walked towards her and place some kisses on her cheeks.
“Hi, Angie Banks” she introduced herself and her voice were melodious.
Patton thought this could just be the chance he had been waiting to forget about Sydney once and for all.
“Paxton White, please to meet you” he introduced himself and aced a kiss on her hand before letting the soft palms meet the table.
Lydia knew what she was looking for.
