Chapter 208
Chapter 208
Dwayne couldn’t help but ask, “But, Mr. Thomas, how will that help us?” Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
Justin was annoyed by Dwayne’s confusion. He glared at Dwayne and said, “Didn’t Morgan and his
wife say that they didn’t give a damn to these rumors? If we spread the news of me visiting the Hall
family, the netizens will begin to gossip for sure. Let’s see if Jessica’s parents can really be as
insouciant as they have claimed to be.”
Rumors! Their power never faded.
Once the rumor was spread, any clarification from the Hall family would look like a cover story. They
would not be able to prove anything.
Dwayne instantly understood. “Now I understand, Mr. Thomas.”
Morgan didn’t know what Justin was up to. After his anger subsided, he couldn’t wait to call Jessica.
Jessica already knew that Justin had gone to New York in the morning. She could guess Justin’s
intention, but she didn’t expect that Justin would even make up a story, saying that she and Lucas were
in love.
The truth was Jessica and Lucas never even met these days.
Having heard Morgan’s veiled concerns, she sneered and said, “Dad, don’t worry. I won’t marry into the
Thomas family again.”
Whether Lucas had fallen in love with Jessica didn’t make any difference. As long as Olivia and Justin
were there, the Thomas family was the hell that Jessica would avoid by all means.
At first, Morgan still doubted whether Jessica and Lucas had indeed gotten back together since Justin
looked quite earnest.
Morgan didn’t want his daughter to suffer. He was worried that Jessica might hide her relationship with
Lucas from him and his wife out of embarrassment.
Yet Jessica had found out Morgan’s intention. Thus, she stated clearly that she would never marry into
the Thomas family again.
Still, Morgan was unable to tell whether Jessica meant it or not. He then said, “Jess, if you are really in
love with him, Mom and I won’t have any objections. We wish nothing but your happiness.”
What Morgan said made Jessica feel guilty. Jessica had realized that love couldn’t be the only criterion
for her marriage now.
In the past, she married Lucas simply out of love.
However, dealing with Lucas’ family was complicated. It had made her suffer a lot and even worried
Morgan and May.
“No matter what you do, Jess, just remember that Mom and Dad will always be there for you.”
“Thank you, Dad.”
“It’s getting late. Jess, go to bed now. I’ll go to sleep, too.”
“Okay, good night, Dad.”
“Good night, Jess.”
After hanging up, Jessica stood on the balcony, unable to calm down for a long time.
It was not because of Justin’s shameless action, but the compromise Morgan was willing to make.
Her three-year-long marriage with Lucas had not only cast a shadow over her but also her parents.
Morgan, who had once strongly opposed her relationship with Lucas, had yielded. As long as it was
Jessica’s choice, Morgan wouldn’t oppose it.
Jessica couldn’t help but feel ashamed for making her parents worried.
She shouldn’t have let that happen.
Jessica took a deep breath and dragged her thoughts to something else.
Justin seemed bent on making Jessica marry Lucas again. No wonder people worshipped money and
power.
Jessica sneered, then she turned and walked back into her room.
Although Justin personally made a trip to New York to express his wish for Lucas and Jessica to
remarry, he did not make any move after that.
Though Jessica and her parents were quite annoyed, Jessica couldn’t do anything since Justin didn’t
cause any real harm.
Jessica had Wendy look into the whole thing. And Jessica learned that Trissy once went to the Thomas
Group to see Thomas, But Jessica didn’t know what exactly she met Lucas for.
Lucas promised that he would punish Olivia, yet Jessica didn’t hear any progress at all.
Jessica felt a bit disappointed.
Jessica thought perhaps their story could end there. Yet the next day, she met Lucas again at a dinner
party.
The guests at the dinner party were all big shots. The Hall Group was currently developing the land in
northern LA while these guests each had a say in the procedures the development required. Even if
Jessica was Morgan’s daughter, she would still have to show her manners at the table.
As the only lady at the table, Jessica inevitably became the focus of other men. They seemed quite
excited to urge Jessica to drink.
In less than half an hour, Jessica had already had two glasses of red wine.
