“So, Jarvis, do you have a good solution?”

Ignoring the first half of her question, Noland Lee waved his hand and said:

“I don’t have a solution right now, but I have a thought.”

“Oh?” Selena looked at Noland Lee with hopeful eyes.

“My thought is…” Noland Lee paused, glanced at Selena’s expression, and said with a smile:

“I believe you won’t reveal what I’m about to say to your eldest brother. I just want to ask, if it turns out that I am more effective than your eldest brother in dealing with sea monsters, what would you think? After all, dealing with sea monsters is part of his key duties as the Deputy Dean of the Deep Sea Branch in charge of battle matters.”

Selena paused for a moment and fell into deep thought, “What would I think…”

Noland Lee continued:

“Or, let me rephrase it. Suppose one day, Lonco Pomida becomes aware of my existence, learns you’ve signed a soul contract with me, and finds out I have an excellent method to deal with sea monsters.

“If he compels you to reveal my secrets, what will you choose to do? Will you uphold our soul contract and keep it a secret, even if it means growing apart from your family, or risk punishment from the contract to reveal the secret by special means?”

Selena remained silent, her eyebrows furrowed. Clearly, Noland Lee had hit a nerve.

Although the future scenario Lee described might not occur, if such a situation did arise, it would certainly force Selena to make a difficult choice between family ties and the contract.

The secrets Noland Lee had previously mentioned were trivial compared to dealing with sea monsters.

Consider that human wizards, by their nature, would likely target the Sirens Kingdom once they master the means to defeat the sea monsters.

“It’s time to make a choice, Selena,” Noland Lee spoke slowly.

“Given your past experiences, you should be able to foresee what would happen once the Ulnas Circle masters the method to victory.

“Heroes are born from the times.

“As long as the conflict between sea monsters and human wizards persists, someone will eventually discover my method.

“If you choose to reveal my secret to your family, that person will be you. You will become a remarkable page in the History of the Ulnas Ring.

“If you choose to keep my secret, then this easily obtainable honor will be enjoyed by someone else, and you will just have to watch it pass you by.”

Selena gradually came to her senses:

“You don’t want to reveal the solution to everyone, even if it could lead the Ulnas Circle to completely defeat the sea monsters?”

Noland Lee just smiled:

“Of course not.

“All I want is gold coins, soul fragments, and mana. If the Sirens Kingdom remains, I can get these things. If it’s gone, I can still get them.

“To me, the existence or non-existence of the Sirens Kingdom is not a necessity. Given my familiarity with the current situation, there’s no need for me to push for the eradication of the Sirens Kingdom.”

Selena’s face clouded over with anxiety, tormented by how her future self would choose:

“You want to use the method of dealing with sea monsters as a bargaining chip to become the Dean of the Deep-sea Branch?!”

“No, you got it wrong,” Noland Lee waved his hand:

“I plan to purchase a Sub-Dimensional Plane from the Ulnas Circle in the future, having my own private space. I won’t participate in the management. You will handle those duties. As the price of recruiting you, once I’ve figured out the solution to deal with the sea monsters, I’ll allow you to pass that along to the Deep-sea Branch. From then on, you will break away from the Deep-sea Branch and become my principal.”

Selena’s face stiffened, she stared at Noland Lee in shock, it took a moment for her to finally speak in a low voice:

“… After all this, you were aiming to poach me.”

Noland Lee looked at her with a smiling face.
