Chapter 70
Chapter 70
As they drove on, Aspen’s gentle voice sounded in the car. “The Withams, the Jeffersons, and the Murrays are aristocratic families. Did you know that?”
Gisele nodded. However, as the Withams had changed their key areas of operation, they gradually
became less known in Hearthfield. Most people only knew the Murrays and the Jeffersons as aristocratic
families of Hearthfield,
“Great, that makes things easier. So I’ll keep the story short.” Aspen chuckled with feigned
lightheartedness, but the melancholy in his voice was clear.
“Maybe timing is crucial in love. Perhaps as the one who came later, I’d been too greedy to wish to fight
for
my chance. Maybe I’d gone against fate, and that’s why I ended up in such a sorry state.”
Though he didn’t make himself too clear, Gisele managed to catch the gist of it.
But if who came first mattered in love, then why was that not the case for her? She was the one who
knew Dorian first.
Seeing how down she looked, Aspen felt guilty and said with a slight chuckle, “I’m sorry for bringing up such unhappy things. Honestly speaking, Don does hold a place for you in his heart. Your marriage would
not have lasted three years if he did not love you.”
Gisele only smiled and said nothing. It was true that they shared three years of marriage, but they only met during family gatherings whenever there was an occasion. How hard could it be to maintain a
marriage like that?
Silence hung in the air as the both of them kept quiet in the car.
Gisele got out of the car just before they reached Witham Manor. Before she left, she told Aspen, “Mr. Witham, please send someone to collect the herbs from Jett tomorrow, and send them to me at this address. I’ll process them before coming back again tomorrow.”
The address that Gisele gave him was the apartment that she bought with Angie. Besides the apartment, the Jefferson Manor had a herb processing machine too. But she didn’t wish to return to that place which
had no warmth in it.
“Sure. Here’s my number. I’ll be in town for quite some time to accompany Grandmother. If there’s anything I can help with, just give me a call,” Aspen said as he passed her his name card after taking the
note with Gisele’s address on it.
Gisele took his name card with slight hesitation before smiling at him with a nod.
As Aspen sat in the car and watched her leave, the smile on his l*ps faded away. It wasn’t until she disappeared down the road that he finally said, “Let’s go.”
The chauffeur started the car and continued driving back to Witham Manor.

Over at St. Anne Hospital, Dorian’s expression was dark as he sat in the empty and silent corridor. He held his phone in his hand and stared at the screen. He was watching the surveillance footage from Hearty
Herbs.
Sierra, who already had her wound treated, waited for quite some time for Dorian, but he never came.
She walked out of the emergency room uneasily. She found him in the corridor, watching something on his phone with a stem look on his face. He gave off a cold and detached demeanor.
All of a sudden, a thought struck her and she shuddered involuntarily.
“Don,” Sierra called out with a slight tremble in her voice.
Dorian immediately put his phone into his pocket and smiled at her. “Has your wound been dressed? I’ll send you back.” Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Sierra went up to him and tried to link her arm around his, but Dorian inconspicuously moved away and walked over to the hospital exit.
Siema stood there and looked at her outstretched hand. The fear within her intensified.
In the past, he would definitely have made her stay back for a day for further observations. But now, he didn’t even bother to show her any concern and only offered to send her back.
He even shied away from her touch.
Sierra trudged along behind Dorian worriedly, but he did not even realize that she’d fallen behind.
When they got into the car, Sierra attempted to speak up several times, but Dorian’s attention was on his phone.
Then, when they finally reached her apartment, she held his hand and whined coquettishly when she noticed how he seemed to have no intention of coming out the car with her.
“Don, won’t you accompany me? I still feel a little woozy, and I’m afraid to be all alone at home.”
“I’ve got things to deal with at work. I’ll get someone to watch over you,” Dorian said impassively as he pulled his arm away from her.
Sierra looked at him longingly. Just as he was about to close the car door behind him, she hurriedly asked, “Don, are you angry at me for slandering Gisele?”
In the end, she was the one who confessed.
“You’re thinking too much about it,” Dorian denied without the slightest change in his expression.
Sierra smiled bitterly. How could she be the one overthinking things? He was so different now, from his expression to his actions, compared to the past few days. If he wasn’t blaming her for what she did, then why was he so cold toward her?
“I’m sorry, Don. I just wanted your attention. I have no one else but you now…
Sierra’s eyes welled up with tears as she looked at him pitifully. Then, in a choked voice, she said. “Will

you be leaving me too, Don?”
When Dorian saw how gentle and vulnerable she was, he suddenly thought of how she was like as a chi However, she had never been so weak back then.
In fact, Sierra’s character as a child was like Gisele’s character now. She never gave in to bullies and would always rely on herself to seek out justice.
Dorian lifted his gaze to look at her and sighed. “Don’t think too much about it. You must be worn out today. Go back and have a good rest.”
“Alright. Don, I only did what I did to see if you really love me. You know how insecure I am”
Sierra suddenly leaned close to him with pouty l*ps. She wanted him to k*ss her.
As Dorian stared at the perfect shape of her l*ps, an image of Gisele’s l*ps suddenly flashed in his mind. They were soft and carried the slight fragrance of herbs. It was completely different from the scent perfume that Sierra had on her.
“Yeah, I know.”
