Chapter 76
Chapter 76
The nurse shook her head. “I heard that he provoked some big shot in Hearthfield, but how could he do that when he has been lying in the hospital all day?”
Gisele paused. If Johnson had offended any big shot, Dorian was the only one in question. Why would he push a patient to a dead end? This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
The doors of the elevator slid open, and the nurse noticed that Gisele was still standing inside in a daze after she had stepped out. “Hey, Gigl Toby Fluff. Are you okay?”
Gisele’s face was gradually losing its color, and she appeared to be in unease. However, she forced o
smile. “I’m fine.”
She walked out of the elevator and followed the nurse toward Johnson’s ward.
On the way there, the nurse told her about Johnson’s recent daily life. When they reached his ward, the nurse stopped talking momentarily, turned to Gisele, and said hesitantly, “Go on. I’m going to get his
medication.”
After giving her a nod, Gisele walked in slowly. On the bed, Johnson was much paler than before and had lost a lot of weight.
The youth who was once full of life looked so ashen that he looked barely alive. The boy who always wore
a bright smile on his face was now lying quietly.
Pursing her l*ps, Gisele felt that she had done him wrong. If she hadn’t been willful, he probably wouldn’t
be in this state now.
“Gigi…” Johnson’s eyes popped open as he snapped back from his reverie. At first, he thought his eyes. were playing tricks on him, so he struggled to raise his hand and rubbed his eyes.
When he saw that Gisele was still there, he beamed at her.
Instantly, tears welled up in Gisele’s eyes, and she sl*pped into a seat next to him. “You-”
“Gigi, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.
As he struggled to sit up, she went over and helped him, asking softly, “How can I not worry about you?
Johnson, you’re still young and have a whole future ahead of you.
“Why won’t you have the surgery? Only with a healthy body can you continue with the job you love. Isn’t that good?”
“Gigi…” The smile on his face waned, and he mumbled sadly. “But they all died during surgery.”
Gisele’s pupils contracted as it dawned on her the reason he rejected the surgery. For a moment, she didn’t know what she could offer as comfort, and the atmosphere in the room turned somber.
Just then, Sierra’s gentle and cutesy voice came from the door. “Maybe a part of the ward will have to be freed up. Although this is charity, we shouldn’t take it lightly. Like the wards–Oh, isn’t that Gisele? You’re here, too?”
Looking all awe–inspiring, Sierra had appeared at the door with a team of dozens of medical staff. With her as the lead, the team consisted of directors, vice director, and others of similar rankings. They held great respect for her and treated her like an esteemed guest.
“It’s great that you’re here, Gisele!” Sierra approached Gisele happily and hugged her arm intimately as though they were best friends.
“Don is organizing a medical consultation event for charity with St. Anne Hospital and Central Hospital. We’re currently missing a herbal medicine practitioner. Will you set up a payable booth at the hospital
lobby on that day?”
The doctors who were about to act as though they were delighted to have Gisele as part of the charity event were surprised. What payable booth? Everyone turned to her with probing gazes.
“I’m not free.” Gisele pulled her arm away. She realized that Sierra had grown accustomed to being the mistress and was even a little proud about it.
Every time Dorian did something for her, she couldn’t stop herself from showing off in front of Gisele. Did she assume that everyone was
jealous of her because she had a doting man?
The dazzling smile on Sierra’s face disappeared in an instant.
