Dear Ex-wife Marry Me

Chapter 1860

But Patrick wasn't one to back down easily. The very next morning, another gift arrived, this time a charming little bell for Coco.

It actually looked pretty cute hanging around her neck.

lan's face went through a kaleidoscope of colors as he seethed, but he had no time to dwell on Patrick's antics because Augus was coming to town.

When Augus's flight landed in Greenfield, it was Beck and Dylan who went to pick him up from the airport.

Augus was still in recovery, his complexion a shade paler than usual, but his presence was as commanding as ever.

His gaze swept over the crowd at the arrival gate, not finding the one face he was seeking. He turned to Beck.

"Where's the doc?"

Beck paused, then filled him in, "The doctor's back at the house, hasn't been sleeping well these past few days." Augus nodded, his rugged good looks belying his years.

His eyes then landed on Dylan, or more precisely, on the little girl hiding behind Dylan.

The girl peeked out like a bashful bunny and then snapped back, clinging tightly to Dylan's coat.

Dylan just nodded at Augus, saying nothing.

Beck, ever the mood-lightener, ushered them towards the car.

Beck took the wheel while Augus claimed the shotgun seat, leaving Dylan and the girl to the backseat.

Augus bit back his question for as long as he could before finally asking.

"Isn't this girl of school age by now? Does she still understand nothing?"

Just as Dylan was about to respond, the girl piped up.

"I get it, I get how to make big brother feel good."

A peculiar silence fell over the car, and Beck, for the first time, saw his usually composed big brother scramble to clarify.C0pyright © 2024 Nôv)(elDrama.Org.

"She means massage, massaging the wrists. Don't talk nonsense! I've told you many times to speak clearly."

The girl just uttered an "Oh."

Dylan's eyes met Augus's in the rearview mirror, and he quickly added.

"Dad, she's still six months shy of being of age. I only see her as family."

Augus, encountering this situation for the first time, struggled for words, eventually muttering.

"Just make sure you know where to draw the line."

Dylan exhaled in relief, his back slick with tension.

Arriving at the Sanders' family estate, Augus was the first to step out of the car. Spotting a woman sitting in the yard, he took a moment before telling Dylan and Beck, "I need a word with her." Dylan and Beck promptly went inside.

No one knew what Augus said to Sarah, but through the patio doors, it was clear there was no argument, just a calm exchange.

In the end, Sarah dabbed at her eyes while Augus, crouched before her, appeared to say something profound, his hand resting over hers.

Dylan looked away, his attention caught by the girl who was now looking around restlessly.

"Sit still. We've sorted out your school enrollment. Have you memorized everything I gave you last night?"

"I have, I memorized it all."

Beck, pouring tea on the living room sofa, couldn't help but wonder.

"Bro, she can barely get her words out. Is she really ready for school? We don't want her to be bullied."

Dylan glanced once more at the serene scene in the garden, then turned to address Beck's concern.

"She's from the research facility; she won't be bullied."

"That's not a given," Beck countered while biting into a piece of fruit. "In this world, those who don't grasp social cues are often isolated. She's beautiful and clueless - a perfect target at school."

Beck raised an eyebrow, "Speaking of which, she's never been schooled before, and you're throwing her into eleventh grade? Can she even keep up? It seems she's clueless about everything up to tenth grade."

Dylan handed the girl some fruit, his tone nonchalant.

"Don't treat her like a normal girl. She's a monster among the creatures of that facility, capable of reading ten lines at a glance. Photographic memory is just one of her basic skills. In the past few months, she's already caught up to eleventh-grade level."

Beck's gaze lingered on the girl before he shrugged.

"Alright then, genius girl. Her very existence is a blow to one's ego."
