Chapter 152
Chapter 152
Alex’s POV
1 stormed into my hotel room, slamming the door shut behind me. The air–conditioning was in the air, but it did nothing to cool the fire burning inside me. My jaw ached from clenching so hard, and my hands were still shaking from the punch I’d thrown at Daniel. The smug look on his face, the way he had laughed at me, echoed in my mind.
I tugged my tie loose, yanking it off and tossing it onto the couch My chest felt tight, and frustration clawed at me from all sides. How did this happen? How had someone like Daniel Brooks gone from nothing to owning Nexus Innovations, a company that had somehow managed to topple mine? And worse, how was this all because of Christiana?
I couldn’t sit still. I paced the room, running a hand through my hair, my breathing uneven. I had never felt this kind of anger before…not even during my most ruthless boardroom battles.
Then my phone buzzed. I grabbed it from the bedside table, glancing at the screen. Sebastian. Of all people to call me now, it had to be my half–brother. I debated letting it ring, but I knew he’d just keep calling.
I swiped to answer, my voice clipped. “What?”
“Wow. Nice to hear from you too,” Sebastian said, his tone laced with sarcasm. “What’s got your boxers in a twist?”
I exhaled sharply, trying to steady my voice. “Nothing. Just tired. Long day.”
“Uh–huh,” Sebastian drawled, clearly unconvinced. “Don’t lie to me, Alex. You sound like you’re about to punch someone.”
If only he knew. I sank onto the couch, pinching the bridge of my nose. “It’s nothing, Sebastian. Let it go.”
“Alex,” he said, his voice firmer now. “Come on. I know you. Spill it. What happened?”
I sighed, leaning back and staring at the ceiling. I wasn’t in the mood to talk about this, but Sebastian was like a dog with a bone when he wanted answers. He wouldn’t stop until I gave him something.
“Fine,” I muttered, my voice heavy. “It’s a dude named Daniel Brooks.”
“Daniel Brooks?” Sebastian repeated, sounding surprised. “He seems like someone who has gotten on your last nerve.”
I shook my head. “Yeah, you’re right. Turns out he’s
not as pathetic as I thought. He’s Mr. B.”
There was a pause on the other end.
“Wait… Mr. B? As in the guy who owns Nexus Innovations? That Mr. B?”
“The very same,” I said through gritted teeth. “He’s the reason my company isn’t number one anymore. Nexus Innovations came out of nowhere and overtook
- us. And
I find out it’s Daniel freaking Brooks behind it all.”

“It is, isn’t it?” he said, his voice quieter now. “Alex, what’s
I leaned forward, resting my elbows on my knees. “He’s trying to take her away from me,” I admitted, my voice low but sharp. “He thinks he’s the better man. He’s made it his mission to rub it in my face….how I don’t deserve her, how I’m just a loser who abandoned her. He said Christiana loves him and not me.”

Sebastian sighed heavily. “Wow. That’s… intense.”

“Intense?” I snapped, my frustration spilling over. “It’s ridiculous. He’s nothing, Sebastian. He doesn’t have half of what I have, yet he’s out here acting like he’s king of the world.”
“Alex,” Sebastian said carefully, “I get why you’re pissed, but you need to calm down.”
“Calm down?” I asked my voice rising. “How am I supposed to calm down when this guy is trying to destroy everything I’ve built? Everything I care about?”
Sebastian’s voice softened. “Listen to me, Alex. I know this is a lot, but you need to keep your head in the game. Don’t let him get to you. That’s what he wants. He’s trying to rattle you.”
I leaned back, exhaling slowly. “He’s succeeding,” I muttered.
“Don’t give him that satisfaction,” Sebastian said firmly. “You’re Alex freaking Alistair. You’ve built an empire. One guy with a chip on his shoulder isn’t going to bring you down.”
I closed my eyes, trying to let his words sink in. “It’s not just about business, Sebastian,” I said quietly. “It’s about Christiana. She’s… she’s the motherof my kids. She’s the one thing I can’t afford to lose.”
“And you won’t,” Sebastian said confidently. “But you’ve got to play this smart. If you let your emotions take over, you’re playing right into his hands.”
I nodded slowly, even though he

“No promises,” I muttered, a small smirk tugging at my lips despite myself.

“Goodnight, Sebastian.”
I ended the call, setting my phone down on the table. The room was quiet again, but
