Chapter 54: Don’t embarrass me
The car started up again and the destination was Mr. Eustasio’s birthday banquet, which was to take place at the Villa Romero.
In Ciudad Pacifica, the most prestigious family was the Moya family, followed by the Romero family. However, the Romero family had occupied the first place among all the aristocratic families in Ciudad Pacifica decades ago.
Today, the most powerful family was the Moya family, but the influence of the Romero family was still enormous in the Ciudad Pacifica.
As the guests at Eustasio’s birthday banquet were nobles, ladies and all kinds of celebrities, there would be many journalists.
Journalists were not allowed in, but photos could only be taken outside the main gate, where a red carpet had been laid out and it looked like a gala because there were guards and journalists on both sides.
Orlando and Melina got out of the car one after the other, she grabbed Orlando’s arm smiling proudly.
Black! Black!
They were surrounded by the sound of the cameras and entered together. Then the cameras went off again as other guests came in the back.
-Mr Orlando.
The Romero family butler stood at the door as the host’s representative to welcome the guests and when he saw Orlando, he greeted him warmly.
-This is my birthday present for Mr. Eustasio.
That said, the assistant behind Orlando stepped forward and handed the gift to the butler.
-Thank you, Mr Orlando. Please come in.
Orlando nodded and walked with Melina into the banquet hall, where many arriving guests were chatting and socialising.
-Dear Mr Dylan.
As they were not too far away, they could clearly hear the butler’s greeting to Dylan. Although he called both gentlemen, respect for Orlando came from the prestige of his family, while Dylan was appreciated for his genius skills.
Orlando was furious at the thought of this, but he had to hide it in this situation, so, he vented his anger by stealthily straining at Melina’s waist.
It hurt like hell, but Melina bit her lip to hold it all in.
After greeting the butler, Dylan saw Orlando and Melina and approached them with no change in expression.
-Orlando greeted Dylan stiffly, and still had to show due formality.
Dylan nodded slightly, but frowned at Melina and said in disgust:
-This is Mr. Eustasio’s birthday banquet, you should choose your companion well.
Clearly, Dylan said it to mock Melina’s humble background, his formal words hurt Melina more, who had to smile falsely as she endured his hatred.
Then Dylan left before Orlando could answer him, and Orlando didn’t expect Dylan to ridicule him, although it seemed he was simply giving him advice as an uncle.
Orlando clenched his fists in anger at Dylan’s contempt and bit his teeth.
-Orlando, it hurts! -Melina muttered with a pale face, because she could not stand it any longer.
Hearing her speak, Orlando vented his anger at Melina, then pulled his arm away and frowned in disgust.
-Don’t bother me any more.
-Orlando.
Melina pretended as if she didn’t know her mistake and looked at Orlando to show her grievances, but he didn’t feel like guarding his emotions.
-Stand still and don’t embarrass me,” Orlando commanded and strided off.
He abandoned Melina and she seemed to hear the jeers of the people around her. Of course, it was only her illusion.
After a while, Melisa went to a corner and told herself that she didn’t have to be angry, because the suffering was temporary and soon her dreams would come true.
Dylan stood to the side, coldly observing Orlando’s act and gave a faint smile.
As Dylan showed that he had no intention of socialising, no one dared to approach him, so he quietly sent a message to Vanessa.
In the Villa Cazalla, Vanessa sat lazily cross-legged on the sofa, a pillow was cuddled up to her and a fruit tray was prepared for her. On the television, entertainment programmes were playing and this livened up the quiet living room.
It was only half past seven in the evening and still very early.
Suddenly, her phone vibrated and Vanessa saw that it was a message from Dylan:
“Guess where I am.”
-Vanessa rolled her eyes and cursed.
She did not want to answer, but fearing the man’s strategies, she had to answer, “Where?”Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
She didn’t feel like guessing, but Dylan quickly responded with a commanding tone, “Guess.”
Vanessa was hysterical because how could she know what Dylan was doing if she wasn’t a fortune teller, so she was slow to respond.
However, she was unconsciously guessing and remembered that Philip had told her he was going to attend some banquet or other.
“Right, Mr. Eustasio’s birthday banquet. Is Dylan there too?”
Vanessa then responded tentatively:
“Eustasio’s birthday banquet?
Dylan was quick to respond:
“You’ll get a prize for getting it right.”
Vanessa had an evil eye, because she didn’t want Dylan’s prize.
“What will this malicious man give as a reward? Most likely it is a reward for himself.”
Vanessa then wrote:
“Don’t send messages and enjoy the feast”.
“Your lawful husband has shown up with your bastard sister at Senor Eustasio’s birthday banquet, do you know what this means?
Vanessa frowned at Orlando’s stupidity, at least they hadn’t previously exposed their relationship to the public because few people knew how scandalous the two of them were.
However, journalists had been invited to Mr. Eustasio’s banquet and photos were allowed to be published as long as they were not too private.
Didn’t the act of bringing Melina to this occasion mean that Orlando wanted everyone in the Pacific City to know that they were together?
