Chapter 39 Quarelling With The Jerk
Chapter 39 Quarelling With The Jerk
I wanted to stop the taxi driver, but the driver ignored me. He stepped on the accelerator and left
quickly.
Looking at the taxi driving away, I turned around and looked at Vaughn angrily. It was already late, and
the only taxi I managed to flag down left because of him. Would I have to walk home?
"Vaughn Jarvis, what the hell are you doing? Why don't you let me get in the taxi?"
I glared at Vaughn angrily and questioned him loudly, looking at him with anger in my eyes.
"Hollie, I'll send you back. Let's talk on the way."
Vaughn was not angry because of my accusation. He reached out to hold me and looked at me with
gentle eyes.
"No need. I would rather walk home than let you send me back! I've told you before, we're have nothing
to talk about!"
I shouted at Vaughn, still angry because he stopped me from getting in the car.
"Hollie, when did you become so stubborn? You used to be very gentle."
At my bad attitude, Vaughn looked at me and frowned slightly. There was already a hint of displeasure
in his tone.
"You said it yourself, that's in the past. Also, I'm only gentle with my man, which you're not anymore, so
why should I be gentle with you? Why?"
I said these words in one breath without stopping. I now felt that this Vaughn was really ridiculous. We
had already broken up. Why did he expect me to be gentle around him?
As soon as I finished my words, the expression on Vaughn's face became a little ugly. He looked at me
with more displeasure. I could clearly feel that he was suppressing his anger.
"I know that you must hate me in your heart now. It doesn't matter. If it makes you feel better like this,
then go ahead. We can talk about it when you're calmer."
After a long silence, Vaughn suppressed the anger in his heart and looked at me.
I don't know why Vaughn was still seeking me out now. We had no relationship with each other now,
and I let him be with Laney. What else did he want from me?
"I don't hate you. I have nothing to say to you. I'm going home."
I didn't want to have too much to do with Vaughn. I went around him to leave, but he seemed to set his
heart on not letting me leave. He grabbed my arm.
"Hollie, why can't you talk to me nicely? We used to be the closest lovers. Do you intend to talk to me in
this indifferent attitude for the rest of your life?"
No matter how much he tried to convince me, I was still cold towards him, so now he was losing his
temper as well. In the past, I used to be the one who backed down first, but now that he was no longer
my boyfriend and fiance, I didn't see why I needed to take his feelings into account.
"As you said, it was the past. We are strangers now. Please don't show up in front of me in the future,
okay? I don't want to see you now!"
I frowned irritably and couldn't help cursing. When did Vaughn become so annoying?
As soon as I finished my words, I clearly saw that Vaughn's face changed and became much darker.
Any man would be angry with my attitude, let alone Vaughn, whom I had always been weak against.
"Hollie..."
Just when Vaughn was about to say something, my cell phone rang. I took out my mobile phone and
saw it was Brandon's number. I was shocked. Why did Brandon suddenly call me tonight? I thought he
had forgotten about me.
I could almost guess what Brandon wanted to do by calling me at this time. Actually, I didn't really want
to do it, but when I saw Vaughn staring at me coldly, I picked it up without hesitation.
"Hello."
Vaughn had also seen that it was Brandon who was calling me. He looked at me with anger in his eyes,
but I deliberately pretended to be sweet and talked to Brandon on the other end of the phone.
"What's wrong with your voice? Are you sick?" Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Brandon's sexy and low voice came from the other end of the phone, but what he said made me want
to vomit blood.
Was he for real? I was speaking to him in a sweet voice, but he thought that I was sick. I thought men
liked women who spoke like this. Brandon was really a different kind of man to be able to ask a stupid
question like that.
"Ahem, my throat was a little uncomfortable just now. Why did you suddenly call me? Is there anything
wrong?"
I pretended to cough twice and my voice returned to normal.
"Have you forgotten the relationship between the two of us? Why else would I be calling you?"
Brandon's sexy voice came from the other end of the phone again. My face immediately turned red.
How could I forget the deal I made with Brandon? There was only one reason why he would call me at
this time of the night. He needed to satisfy his physiological needs.
"Well, I'm still outside right now, so I might not be able to go. How about tomorrow night?"
I glanced at Vaughn. Seeing that he was angry, I looked away and whispered to Brandon on the other
end of the phone.
I didn't know how to get home right now, and Vaughn was still here. Bad things happened at once.
The other end of the phone was silent. I could almost hear Brandon's breathing. Just when I thought he
was angry and was about to explain, his voice came from the other end.
"Where are you now? I'll pick you up."
Hearing that he was coming, my heart skipped a beat. I opened my mouth and wanted to refuse, but
when I saw that Vaughn did not intend to let me go, I made up my mind and told him the address.
Hanging up the phone, I looked coldly at Vaughn and turned to leave.
"What's your relationship with Brandon? How did you two know each other?"
Vaughn's voice came from behind. There was anger in his tone. He strode over, stood in front of me,
and glared at me angrily.
"I've already told you last time. Brandon is the man that likes me. You and Laney said last time that no
man would ever love me, right? How's this then? Brandon is so much better than you. He's richer, more
handsome, and has more potential! I'm really glad that you and Laney got together, otherwise, I
wouldn't have found a perfect man like him."
