Don’t Mess With the Rock Chicks

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

“Bowen Evert, president of Earth Group, is reportedly engaged to Viona Gellar, the daughter of Oriental Group’s president, and will be getting married next month.”

Jolene Marsh had stumbled across this breaking news while out on the balcony. A lit cigarette hung loosely from her fingertips.

She enjoyed smoking a cigarette after s*x.

Bowen didn’t share her sentiment, though, so she always had to hide out on the balcony each time.

After she’d digested the news, she silently slid her phone. back into her pocket.

In the three years she’d been by Bowen’s side, she’d always been good at masking her emotions.

Anyone who glanced at her face would be unable to decipher a single hint of her inner thoughts.

She seemed unaffected, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Rather, it felt like her heart was being crushed to a pulp.

She knew that this day would come sooner or later.

She also knew that she and Bowen were never going to happen. It was simply out of the question.

It was a fact she was aware of from the very beginning.

Footsteps sounded from behind her, and she hurriedly extinguished her cigarette against the balcony railing. With one hand still holding the stub, she lifted the other to wave through the air and disperse the lingering smoke.

When she finally turned, she was greeted by Bowen at the balcony’s doorway.

Glancing through the glass door, Jolene shot him a smile, taking in his tall figure and the robe draped over his broad shoulders.

She knew it was time for him to go.

He was what every good son should be like. No matter how late it got, he never ceased to return home.

And so Jolene would spend the rest of the night by herself. Alone.

She slid open the door and stepped over the threshold, still carrying a faint scent of smoke.

Bowen noticed it instantly.

She marched past him and toward the coat rack, carefully collecting his shirt and jacket. She then returned to his side to help him get dressed. This was their usual routine.

Right on cue, she leaned in and whispered, “Drive carefully. By the way, I left the Toyar Company contract on your desk in the afternoon. I’ll also be going to Vatin Company tomorrow morning to finalize some details with Mr. Smith.” She then got up on her tiptoes to wrap the tie around his neck. Suddenly, she heard a soft whisper in her ears.

“I’m staying here tonight.‘

She froze, momentarily stunned.

However, when she thought about it some more, the surprise died down.

Furrowing her brow, she allowed her arm to drop, feeling the tie brush against her leg. “Oh, okay. I’ll get the water running for you then.”

As she moved to walk past him, Bowen gently took her wrist.

Shooting him a glance out of the corner of her eyes, she pursed her lips into a slight smile. “What’s wrong? Don’t you want to wash up?

“Not without you.”

His arms encircled her waist from behind, and his familiar scent enveloped her.

She felt her breath stop short.

It was at that moment that he slowly planted a kiss that traced its way from the back of her neck to the front of her chest.

It was like a snake wrapping tightly around her body, getting closer and closer to smothering her.

Bowen Evert was always eager for some action, but it typically never went further than twice a night.

He restrained himself, just like he did with everyone else.

Not too close, not too far. Not too cold, not too hot.

There was always just enough distance between them.

And when it felt like he was finally within reach, she’d stretch her hand out only for it to come back empty.

She allowed her eyes to fall shut as the man swept her off her feet. She felt his legs guide them toward the bathroom.

The stream of water cascaded out of the shower head and onto the pair, drenching both of their clothes. Jolene remembered that since the rainy season had started, she hadn’t been able to dry her pajamas outside.

She wanted to struggle and protect the little dignity she had, but she ended up giving in.

Steam danced through the air, gently settling atop the entangled bodies.

She allowed his kisses to consume her.

Only when the steam completely filled the room did she finally open her eyes. She took in the sight of the man in front of her.

Just look at his handsome face, his chiseled features. Look at how dark his eyes are, dark enough to get lost in them.

With her gaze still fixed on him, she smiled.

She stood on the tips of her toes to press a kiss against his lips.

Later, their wet hair fanned out against their pillows, dampening the fabric beneath them.

As the night settled over them like a heavy blanket, all became calm.

Safely tucked into Bowen’s arms, Jolene allowed her eyes to close as the drowsiness set in.

As she finally felt herself fall asleep, she heard his voice float overhead.

“I’m getting married,” he said. This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.

She remained curled up like a kitten, not daring to move a single muscle.

Bowen could only see glimpses of her pale skin through her hair as he stared at her head.

After a few seconds, she responced with a faint, “Oh.”
