Chapter 847 Being Jealous
Chapter 847 Being Jealous
“Why are you following me?” Maximilian stopped to stare at Grace who had just called it even with him
but came back to follow him. That was kind of funny and unexpected to him.
Grace was a bit embarrassed, “I...um...I’m homeless now.”
“Uh-huh.” Maximilian looked at her indifferently. He thought she was just playing the puppy-dog eyes
trick which was too frequent to work for him.
Seeing how perfunctory Maximilian was, Grace felt upset. In fact, she came back to Maximilian in the
hope of avenging her father. She didn’t know who the murderer was. But she had made up her mind
that she wouldn’t leave until she caught the murderer.
“Can you provide shelter for me for a few days? I will do whatever you want during my stay,” said Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
Grace bitterly after hesitating for a moment. She believed in Maximilian because she thought him to be
a good guy. She wouldn’t have begged someone else to help her.
Maximilian was shocked to hear that. Seeing how pathetic she was, he couldn’t bear to turn her down.
“Okay!” Maximilian finally agreed.
Before Grace could cheer up for that, Maximilian continued, “But you must tell me what happened.” He
had been troubled by the fact that Grace had tried to assassinate him, which he hadn’t figured out. He
wanted to hear the truth from her. It was not a big deal to Grace so she agreed.
On their way home, Grace told him what had happened and it turned out that he had been tricked. He
didn’t expect those people to be so dirty. By “those people”, he meant people like Dragon Queen or
Head of dragon lords and their company. In order to make Grace kill him, they kidnapped her father.
Kind-hearted as she was, Grace wouldn’t have collaborated with them to assassinate Maximilian but
for saving her father. Because those people went back on their word, she was so infuriated that she
suddenly removed the Voodoo Lily from Maximilian.
On a second thought, Maximilian felt that Grace was just taken advantage of by those people. And he
didn’t resent her all of a sudden. Instead, he pitied her.
“I’m gonna catch the murderer for sure!” said Grace determined while clenching her fists tightly.
Suddenly a big problem came to Maximilian’s mind. Honestly, there was another reason that he didn’t
want to take Grace home where there was a mess without enough rooms. Plus, his mother-in-law,
Laura loved to find quarrel in a straw. If he brought Grace home, she would make a big deal out of it. To
avoid the troubles, he decided to rent a house for Grace with his own money. Grace was fine with that
as long as she had a shelter. Maximilian also gave her 3000 yuan as her living expense.
“Thank you!” Grace was really grateful to him. She hesitated for a second and gave him her machete,
“It’s for protecting you.”
“Thanks. But I don’t need it,” said Maximilian waving his hand.
But Grace insisted that Maximilian take it and said, “It’s not a normal machete. It’s poisoned.”
It really rang a bell to Maximilian, which reminded him of the story that a master-hand licked his sword
forgetting that it had been poisoned.
“All right.” Maximilian didn’t resist it any more and took it. After all, it was a useful tool.
Grace was happy that Maximilian finally accepted her machete. Having settled down everything for
Grace, Maximilian left. They had also left each other their contacts.
When Maximilian arrived at home, Victoria came over to help him take off the clothes for laundry.
Suddenly Victoria said unhappily, “Did you go out with other woman?”
Maximilian was struck dumb but he managed to calm down, “Nope.”
“Very well. You dare to lie to me. Don’t try to jerk me around. I smell perfume on your clothes,” scorned
Victoria and then she pinched him on his waist.
Maximilian felt the pain and said pathetically, “All right. Here’s the thing.” It was too bad that he forgot
about the special western style perfume on Grace. Otherwise, he would have taken a shower before he
went home so to avoid the trouble.
Victoria believed what Maximilian had said. When she learned about Grace’s painful experience, she
was not angry with him. Instead, she pitied Grace. She even praised him for helping Grace out.
Maximilian felt relieved. He had thought that Victoria would have pinched him harder. Thank goodness
Victoria was kind-hearted.
“But it’s easier for you to keep a mistress that way. Just bring her home. It’s between you and me,” said
Victoria.
Maximilian could do nothing but called Grace who soon moved in their house.
When Victoria saw the exotic beauty of Grace, she became jealous. She pinched Maximilian and asked
aggressively, “Who do you choose, me or her?”
“Of course you,” replied Maximilian with a strong will for life. It hurt so much that he almost teared. He
was upset why he was always the one to suffer.
“Liar! Look how beautiful she is,” scorned Victoria who was worried.
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Don’t you know that? No one is comparable to you,” said
Maximilian with a grin.
Flora just walked out and heard what he said. He was embarrassed because he seemed to have
offended two women all of a sudden.
Grace was totally fine with that because she regarded Maximilian as her friend who had done her a big
favor. But things were the other way around for Flora who started to question her appearance.
“Well, don’t take it to heart,” said Maximilian with an awkward smile.
Flora said cheerfully, “Excuse me? I didn’t hear anything.”
“Drop it,” said Victoria unhappily to Maximilian. Then she turned to Grace like an old friend, “Let me
show you your room.”
Grace was surprised and said politely with a smile, “Thank you, sister beauty.”
Victoria was happy to be flattered and felt satisfied. Through these days, she felt that Grace was a
kind-hearted girl and was no longer alert to her especially when she found out that Grace and
Maximilian were just friends.
