Chapter 42.
Throughout the night, Ben couldn’t stop contemplating on what Nessa had advised him to do henceforth.
He kept on thinking about how he would walk up to Melissa despite how shy he is.
“But what if she degrades me, or rather turns me down because she feels I’m not the type of guy she needs?” He pouted his lips while I thought.
He got on his feet and moved to the wardrobe, leaned his back on it while his head lifted, staring at the ceiling.
“Every guy loves Melissa, but will she take a glance at me for the first time?” He shook his head. “I don’t think this will work out… it can never.”
He moved back to his bed and got seated. “I’ll just walk up to her, tap her shoulder in order to get her attention… then I’ll start speaking up my heart.”
A silly smile appeared on his face. “How’s that even possible? I mean, standing before her and she stares back at me just like I’ll do.” He got on his feet again, but broke out in a silent laugh. “I might even slump due to her stares. But that is, if she won’t pour a bottle of acid on me.”
He moved to the table, placed his left palm on it and began biting his finger.
“I’ll do it this way…” he swallowed deeply and then stretched his lips.
He moved like a gentleman to the door post and paused. “Hi Melissa… how are you doing?” He soliloquized all in the name of practicing on how to approach the young girl.
His eyes narrowed while his palms dipped into his pocket. “Ummm! I just wanna spend some time with you. Hope you don’t turn me down.”
He couldn’t help it any longer but burst into laughter. He wondered if all this was going to take place the next day.
“This lady urged me to do all this huh?” He shook his head and then got seated on the bed. “Maybe I’ll give it a try tomorrow.”
He arched his brows. “According to her, three times is okay to prove if she loves me. Oh Melissa, please don’t turn me down.”
His cell phone buzzed, drawing his attention towards it. He picked it up to get a message from his friend. Same guy he was speaking with when Vanessa heard him.
A resounding hiss escaped his lips on going through the message. “We’ll talk about this tomorrow in school.”
He threw the cell phone on the bed and then covered himself with a blanket.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“I just wish to sleep off instantly, so I can read my books at midnight.” He muttered, shutting his eyes.

They all ran around the building all in the name of getting ready for school. It’s obvious they had slept ahead of time.
But they aren’t to blame, they woke up to read in the middle of the midnight and it really affected them waking up as early as always.
Tracy tried as much as she could to get their breakfast prepared so they wouldn’t starve before leaving. She had concluded on preparing their lunch as well if there’s much time ahead, otherwise… The lunch will be prepared once they’re back.
Chloe was still brushing their teeth when Vanessa stepped into her room, herself was also a bit late because she didn’t sleep on time.
“Good morning ma’am Vanessa…” She greeted her from the bathroom.
She responded with a smile and dropped her handbag. “You all woke up late right?”
“How did you know that?” Chloe asked her.
She got seated on the bed. “Tracy is still preparing your breakfast, when I’m sure she’s done by this time.”
“We read at midnight.” She replied.
Vanessa laughed. “Including you huh?”
“Sure… dad taught me.” She responded.
Vanessa moved towards her wardrobe and took her school uniform, after which she took her to the bathtub.
“Would you prepare lunch for us today? Please ma’am Vanessa, I don’t want to starve when I’m back.” Chloe pleaded.
She smiled at that request, if it’s just for her she would do that so easily. But her siblings are too strict to cope with.
“Tracy won’t let that happen, not even Ben would love to perceive the aroma so let it be.” She replied.
Chloe broke out in tears. “Please ma’am Vanessa, they will not reject it. Not when we’re so hungry like never.”
“Chloe you won’t understand how your siblings take me. They hate me so much that even my footsteps irritate them.” She stood erect staring at her. “I might prepare it, and they’ll dispose it, so just let it be.”
She shook her head in disgust. “Such a thing can never happen. My siblings won’t dare dispose of a meal or Dad will deal with them.”
“Vanessa… Vanessa.” She heard her name called out so loud.
She glanced at Chloe who has been staring at her. “That’s my dad’s voice.”
She moved to the door and unlocked it to see Xavier standing at the door post.
“Good morning, Mr Xavier…” She greeted him.
Xavier licked his lips. “Good morning Vanessa.” He stepped into the room to get Chloe in the bathtub.
He smiled seeing her there, she’s not familiar with it and hardly takes her bath in it.
“I’m giving the bathtub a try again today, dad.” She smiled.
“I can see, and you’re enjoying it.” He swirled his neck to face Nessa. “I beg of you please, prepare a lunch for my kids, they’re already late to school and I wouldn’t want them to starve when they’re back at noon.”
Vanessa glanced at Chloe who smiled at her. “It’s okay then, I’ll do that for them.”
“Thank you so much ma’am Vanessa, I love you dearly.” Chloe uttered even before her father.
Xavier gripped her palm. “Thank you so much Nessa.” He appreciated it with a smile.
She watched him leave the room and she went back to the bathroom again.

Tracy got seated with her siblings as they gobbled on their breakfast. They were in a haste since the driver was already waiting for them.
Vanessa stepped into the kitchen to get their breakfast ready so she could leave for her bakery.
“What’s she going in there to do? I’m gonna…” Tracy questioned with eyes widened.
Chloe tapped her arm. “Dad pleaded she should prepare our lunch so we won’t starve when we’re back.”
“Wow! That’s nice. I’m sure of eating when I’m back from school.” Ben commented.
Tracy glanced at him and hissed. “What’s so special about her meal?”
“Nothing. But it would save you the stress.” He licked his lips. “She advised me on what to do about Melissa.”
“On what? How are you gonna do it?” She questioned him out of curiosity.
Ben dropped his spoon. “The steps I should take in order to get to myself, or someone else would take her away from me.”
“And you’re loving her already because of that huh?” Tracy twisted her face.
He heaved a big sigh. “Not at all, until I’m satisfied with the advice. I mean if it works out for me the way I expect.”
Chloe pulled her lips into a smile. “It’s gonna work out. I trust my babysitter.”
“You keep talking about her everytime. Just eat your food.” Tracy referred to her little sister.
“She’s her babysitter, or you’ve forgotten huh?” Ben added.
She circled her lips. “Let’s be fast.”
Within a few minutes, they were already done with the meal, and then were ready to leave.
“We’re leaving ma’am Vanessa…” Chloe drew her attention.
She dropped the knife and turned to face her. “Is the driver waiting?”
“Yes, all this while.” She nodded slightly while giving a reply.
Vanessa smiled. “Ok then, I’ll leave for the bakery once I’m done with the meal. Make sure you concentrate on today’s teaching, because I’ll ask you questions when you’re back.”
She returned the smile. “It’s okay with that. Have a nice day ma’am Vanessa.”
“You too, and take care of yourself okay.”
She waved her goodbye and she left the kitchen to meet her siblings already waiting for her.
They left for school immediately.

During break hour, Ben left with his friends to go have some fun together.
His closest friend amongst them drew him closer.
“You’ve never said anything about Melissa since today or you’ve changed your mind from approaching her…” he referred to Ben.
He rolled his eyes. “I’m still thinking of how to do that, already you know I’m a shy type of guy.”
“This time you need to be courageous. I’m saying this because the new guy that came in our class had already approached her.” He stated.
His eyes widened and face grimaced. “What do you mean? He’s already crushing on her.”
He knitted his eyebrows. “That’s it. Though I’m not sure if Melissa accepted the request, but then you need to approach her too. It’s much better than hiding, who knows she might love you.”
“Look, I don’t want to quarrel with anyone because of a girl. I don’t just want that.” Ben remarked.
“What’s yours will always be yours. If Melissa loves you, that guy can’t take her away from you.” His friend advised.
He twisted his lips. “Uhmmm! But I haven’t set my eyes on her since today.”
“She’s sitting alone over there.” He replied pointing in the other direction.
His heart began pounding. He dressed up and decided to move ahead with the advice.
“I’m going…” he referred to his friend.
He nodded. “I wish you good luck.”
Ben began taking steps towards the direction Melissa sat, he felt his heart beating so fast.
