Chapter 6 The Dark Future
Chapter 6 The Dark Future
The document was signed, the orphanage was saved, and she didn't need to sell herself. At about 10
o'clock in the morning, Abby returned to the orphanage to tell everyone this good news. After that, she
hurriedly packed up her luggage and went to Richard Scott's residence.
The Imperial Villa where Richard Scott lived was located in the golden area in the downtown of the NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
Great City, yet withdrawn from the busy street. The houses are all detached triplex in a Baroque style.
Everyone living in the Great City knew that houses here would cost at least tens of millions. Those who
could live here were influential in terms of either status or background. This was the legendary center
of the rich.
The decoration inside the villa was also very exquisite, luxurious but low-key, displaying extraordinary
taste.
However, what surprised Abby was that there were only a few servants and a housekeeper in charge of
the large villa.
"Hello, Miss Miller. Mr. Scott has already told me about you. I'll take you to your room first, and then
explain to you what you're responsible for. I hope you can adapt as soon as possible."
The housekeeper was a fifty-year-old man with a kind face. When he spoke, he also wore a friendly
smile, leaving others with a good impression in an instant.
"Okay, thank you, sir."
Abby replied while she couldn't help complaining to herself.
Richard Scott really weighed and balanced at every turn. At least he should let her take a breath before
working, shouldn't he? What's the rush?
"Miss Miller, if you don't mind, you can call me Leo. We are both under the same roof. It's too polite to
call me sir."
He smiled at Abby. The housekeeper took her upstairs and walked through the long corridor before
finally they stopped at the door of a room. "This is your room from now on. After you get everything
ready, come downstairs to see me."
"Thank you."
Abby thanked him and dragged her luggage in.
The room was neither too big nor too small. It was very tidy, but... The bed clothes, curtains, and even
furniture were all black and gray, as cold as Richard Scott's expression.
Abby took a deep breath. Thinking of serving such a cold guy in the future, she felt her stomach ache.
Abby didn't bring with her many things, except for a few clothes and daily necessities. Therefore, she
didn't spend too much time getting her stuff in place before she came downstairs.
The housekeeper was already waiting in the hall. When he saw Abby coming down, he walked over.
Before he could speak, Abby said, "Leo, would you please tell me in details what I need to do."
"Well, here you are. Your work has been clearly listed. Have a look at it first, and I will tell you other
things that you need to notice."
Handing over a sheet of paper, Leo said in a tone as serious as usual.
Abby hurriedly took it and read the mass of terms and conditions covering the paper.
"So... so many?"
She opened her eyes wide in shock.
"They were set by Mr. Scott."
Leo said calmly.
Abby was speechless and began to read them carefully one by one.
Ten minutes later, she finished reading all the terms, but she was too shocked to say a word.
"Leo, may I ask you some questions?"
After a long while, she finally found her voice.
"Sure." Leo nodded readily.
"The maids I understand usually do cleaning and menial work, but the terms on it are not the same as
what I understand. Could you please explain to me what is written on it? For example... to improve
one's quality, to be rich in life wisdom and professional knowledge? And this... to be familiar with all
kinds of social etiquette, delicious dishes, wine appreciation and flower arrangement, taking care of
household accessories, and even suits, as well as formal clothing..."
Giving the paper back to the housekeeper, Abby felt her stomach twitching.
"Oh my god!" Wasn't... Wasn't Richard Scott teasing her?
"Let me explain. Because of the status of the Scott Family, those who are usually in contact with Mr.
Scott are mainly the elites of the upper class or even nobles and dignitaries. As a qualified personal
assistant, it's necessary to understand these things. What's more, Miss Miller, you are special."
When it came to the last sentence, for some reason, Abby saw a trace of interest in Leo's eyes.
"What is special?" She asked.
"Because you are Mr. Scott's personal assistant, when necessary, you have to accompany him to the
banquet. The prerequisite is the above-mentioned requirements. After all, as a female companion of
Mr. Scott, at least she must be graceful, eloquent and elegant, so as not to discredit him."
The housekeeper paused for a moment and suddenly changed the topic. "By the way, Miss Miller, can
you dance?"
"No."
Abby shook her head in a daze, feeling that something was wrong.
Why should a maid need to be graceful, eloquent and elegant?
"Okay, then I will add dancing on the training list later."
