Fall For Me

Chapter 47

Carson’s POV

She was standing right before me, my drop dead gorgeous Valerie, my breath hanged for a minute before eventually speaking to her. She was starting at me with those green eyes and I could hear my heart thumping loudly in my ears.

I stood there asking her questions, lost in her beauty and forgot to invite her in.

“Can I come in?” She asked in the most polite way she has ever spoken to me.

“I’m sorry, please come in” I moved aside and let her enter. I wanted to offer her my bed, after all she was my woman there was nothing wrong in sitting on my bed and having a conversation. Not like I fancy any conversation right now with her, I just want to lock lips with her.

Speaking of lips, her lips are unusually glossy today, did she do all these just to come see me in my room or was she headed somewhere? I was curious. I hurriedly pulled out a chair from my work table and placed beside my bed for her to sit.

She mumbled “thank you” like she was shy by my civility, I beamed as she sat down.

Where you heading out earlier?”

“E-ermm, not really. I was coming to your room” I hesitated before replying.

“To drag me out of your house yourself?” She made a face l couldn’t quite figure out. She wanted me to drag her out or she wants me to sweet-talk her?

“You wish” I retorted.

“I don’t!” She replied almost immediately, I felt my heart flutter. She bit her lower lips like she regretted saying it but it was too late, I heard it already. I sat down on my bed beside her, staring at her in silence. She tried to avoid my gaze by looking away. I knew one of us had to start the conversation, maybe she was waiting for me to start as the man of the house but I couldn’t care less, I could stare at her all day. She was the one who came to my room to speak to me, she can get on with it already.

Like she heard my thought, she started speaking. “I apologize for being rude to you earlier” She paused and look at my face probably to see my expression. Wait, did she just apologize? I never thought she could say that word to me. What happened to her in that room just 1 hour after I stormed out angrily? Maybe a little anger is good as well.

“Oh, my little rabbit you melt my heart with your words. This sentence has made all my anger disappear.”

She smiled before proceeding with her statement. “I don’t want to leave with bad blood, I want us to be in good terms”

“Oh, so you still want to leave? ” my face grew pale. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

“I want to know you. Maybe we can have a civil conversation like two adults. I’ve stayed here for 2 months now and we barely have a meaningful conversation”. She stared at me as if waiting for my approval. It was a smart way to avoid my question but I love it. I love how smart she is. I smiled, it was enough confirmation for her she took a deep breath.

“So what changed?” I asked, not like it was important at this moment. I just wanted to be sure this wasn’t some temporary shit or some prank or perhaps I’m dreaming. “Pinch me, Valerie” I requested before she could reply my first question.

“What?” Her eyes widened. “Pinch me” I repeated. She didn’t ask further question, she pinched me softly. Her hand was so soft and warm on my skin, I wish she wouldn’t stop pinching me.

“I’m not dreaming” I rejoiced loudly. She shook her head in disbelief with a smile playing on her lips.

“I didn’t know you could be this playful and childish” She complimented, yes that was good compliment to me. At least she wasn’t seeing me as a heartless monster. I was nothing close to playful and childish, in fact I’ve smiled ten times more than I smiled the entire year just sitting with her this evening. The only person I have personal conversations with and probably joke with is Benson and that was on rare occasion. You will not see me smile to someone else but here I was beaming with happiness like a well-fed child.

“I also wanted to come tell you that I’m sorry for being hard on you. I know it’s not easy accepting the reality that you’re now stuck with me. Maybe I can be a dickhead sometimes but I care about you” That was the sweetest and sincerest thing I ever said to someone.

“Yea, a dickhead” she nodded, covering her mouth to hold back her laughter.

“Oh, I also said I care about you or you didn’t hear that part?” I teased.

“Thank you” She whispered shyly.

“Okay, one good turn deserves another. So write out your bucket list, things you’ve always wanted to do from childhood till now that you couldn’t do. I’d make sure you do them”

“Wow, you’ll grant me all my request?” She rejoiced.

“Yes, I will except leaving my house. Don’t ask me to let you go, I could never grant that request even if I promised.” I stood up from the bed.

“I wouldn’t ask you to let me go but could I ask that my family be permitted to visit me? Maybe my siblings could come spend the weekend sometimes. It wouldn’t hurt, I get to stay with you and also see them” She proposed. That was the most irresistible proposal she has ever made to me.

“I could grant that request”

“Thank you” She screamed as she jumped on me. She threw herself at me in a big hug, her hands were wrapped around my neck and time stood still…
