Falling for my Ex-Fiancee’s Best friend

My new boss

“Give us a moment,” Nathan told the girl seated on his lap.

“Okay,” she winked at Nathan sexily and stood up to leave.

“So, Ryan. Talk to me,” Nathan said to Ryan.

“Okay, sir. Erm, she is the new Secretary, sir and she resumed work today. I thought I should let you know.”

“Thank you, Ryan. You have done a good job. Show her to her desk and tell her everything she needs to know about the office.” Nathan instructed, not paying any heed to her.

“Okay, sir.” Ryan answered and turned to Demelza who was still stood numb.

“Shall we?” Ryan asked her.

“Oh! Yes, sir.” She responded, coming back to reality.

Demelza followed Ryan out of the office and wondered how Nathan could be so cold bloomed. “How does he not feel?’ Demelza asked herself trying to get over Nathan’s blank emotion while she was in his office.

“Sorry?” Ryan asked, thinking he was the one Demelza was talking to.

“I’m sorry, I was muttering to myself.” Demelza apologized, realizing she had spoken out loud. Thankfully Ryan didn’t hear what she had said earlier.

After a few minutes of walking down the long hall, Ryan showed her the necessary things she needed to do once she came to work every day.

He asked her to make friends and be free so that she could always be comfortable.

Soon, she settled in and started work for the day. The day started pretty well except for the times it felt like Nathan was teasing her with that girl. She wasn’t the same girl he was bringing to the restaurant a few weeks ago which made it more hurtful and irritating.

The rest of the day went fast and soon she closed from work and headed for the restaurant to take her shift.

Feeling exhausted already but she had no other choice but to do her shift. She needed the money after all.

The most uncomfortable part of her day was the part she had to be in heels.

“What is wrong with you, Demelza?” One of her co-worker asked.

“I’m okay” Demelza responded without looking up and smiling as usual.

“You do not look okay.” He insisted.

“I’m fine for real, I’m just a bit tired.” Demelza said.

“Okay, sorry about that.” He responded though he wondered why she would be tired when she is just getting to work. He shrugged his shoulders knowing that whatever it was is none of his business. This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .

Work went on for the rest of the evening with Demelza feeling like hell but she had to out her shit together and go through the rest of the day.

She realized she had to get used to her new schedule as it would be her everyday thing until whenever.

Serving the last customer with an order, she checked her time and was pleased to see it is already 8pm.

She ensured she cleared her tab before changing back into her clothes.

After changing into her clothes, she signed out and left work quietly. She definitely wasn’t in the mood for chit chat or questions she wouldn’t wanna answer.

The ride home was very quiet for her being that she was tired to the point where she felt like she had reached her limit.

Finally home, she took off her shoes and her clothes and stood with her panties and bra. She thought about having dinner but she felt too tired to fix something up for herself. In that state of tiredness, she went to the fridge and picked out milk.

She took a few gulps and returned it into the fridge. With the excess fatigue she felt, she slammed the door of the fridge without feeling bad and made her way to the room.

She smiled so wide from being happy that she was finally in front of her bed. She slumped on it excitedly and closed her eyes to rest.

“Oh, Christ!!!” She exclaimed from the shock of the loud sound of her alarm. It felt like it hit differently that morning.

Looking all messed up, she dragged herself out of bed and made her way to the bathroom. She took her bath and slowly walked Into the room. Slowly yet steadily, she prepared for work which got her wondering if this is how she would continue or if her body was going to adjust.

Feeling so much body ache, she reached for her aspirin and took it to help with the ache.

She took three deep breaths and warded off every bit of tiredness she felt.

Finally feeling better, she stood in front of her wardrobe and selected a black pants and white crispy shirt to wear.

She tucked in the shirt and wore her wristwatch. She wasn’t in the mood for a necklace which was weird as it is her favorite jewelry.

She hastily packed her hair in a neat ponytail and wore her heels. She did a final touch and left for work.

“Are you just arriving?” Demelza jolted from hearing Nathan shout immediately she walked into the building which made everyone’s attention be on her.

Feeling slightly embarrassed she looks towards his direction.

“I don’t remember wanting a slug as a secretary, I wanted a human with diligent working ethics.” Nathan spat and this time, Demelza’s face turned so red that she wished the ground would open and swallow her, saving her from all this embarrassment.

“I’m- I’m sorry, sir.” Was all she could mutter from feeling so embarrassed.

She was just a few minutes late so she could not understand why Nathan was so hostile.

“Does he hate me that much?” She asked herself, trying to understand.

She ignored herself and made her way to the elevator.

Coming out of the elevator, she could see Nathan hand in hand with the lady of the previous day and this time she unconsciously fisted her hand in annoyance.

She pretended not to see and sat on her desk preparing for the day’s job.

Unconsciously, she instantly felt so depressed that she began sobbing.
