Chapter 16: Trapped
"We have to get off this road," I said, peering across the adjacent woodland in search of some sign of escape.
Lucas observed, "Agreed," his voice hardly invisible. Nonetheless, where?"
Making a snap decision, I noticed a little aperture separating two trees.
I drove off the road and the car bounced and ruckled as we entered the dense forest. Branches swept across the sides of the car, yet my heart thumping, I continued.
"Where are we supposed to be?" Lucas inquired, his eyelids flickering awake.
"I'm not sure," I responded, but "we have to keep on moving."
The car stammered and died unexpectedly. Head whirling, I coasted to stop.
"What's wrong?!"? Panic flowing through his voice, Lucas asked.
Still trying to cool myself, I answered, "I'm not sure." "We have to leave here, now though."
I unlocked the door and dragged Lucas out, eyes darting the surrounding woodland for any sign of threat. From where we were deep into the forest, there was no sign of civilization.
"We have to get off this road," I said, looking about the adjacent woodland for some sign of escape.
Lucas replied, "Agreed," his voice hardly invisible. Nonetheless, where?"

I unlocked the door and carried Lucas out, eyes darting the surrounding woodland for any sign of threat. We observed no traces of civilization when deep in the wilderness.
"Come on," I urged, attempting to hold Lucas's weight. "We have to be moving constantly."
Lucas staggered, though, his legs giving way under him. I grabbed him and held him straight while he battled consciousness.
He said "Ariel," fixedly staring at me. "I apologize; I meant not to put you in danger..."
"Don't apologize," I said, my voice shaking with emotional intensity. "We are in this together - always."
One day, underfoot a twig broke. My heart thumping, I whirled about.
"What is that?" Lucas said, wide with horror in his eyes.
I remained mute. I just moved Lucas nearer, searching for black motion.NôvelDrama.Org content rights.
Then, barely out of the corner of my eye, I saw it: a man emerging from the shadows.
Mumbled "Run," to Lucas, fixed on the figure.
Lucas was not able to run, though. He was too crippled, too weak. I saw I had to protect him.
I stood my ground, trying to show bravery outside of my own experience. "Who are you?" I ask.
The guy got closer, shadows on its features created by the moonlight. A woman, her visage twisted in a grimace.
"You're a hard woman to find, Ariel," she added. You will pay, though, now that you have found it.
I tried to distance myself even though my feet felt rooted to the ground. Lucas was just waking, and I had to watch over him. "What are you looking for?" Keeping my voice steady, I asked.
The woman laughed dismissively. "I am chasing what is mine. And I will do whatever is necessary to acquire it." Lucas's eyes blinked open all at once. "Ariel," he continued, his voice urgent. "Leave here." right here right now. But too late it was already. The woman leaped at us, knife shining in her fingers.
She was too strong even as I fought to defend myself. She brought me down; the knife pushed to my throat. Arriving in a dark room, my head throbbing with pain, Lucas disappeared from sight.
'Lucy!' I started to cry; my voice rang off the walls.
But none of a response was given.
Solo, Where I was or what had happened to Lucas escaped me.
I turned to find feet walking suddenly. The woman was returning.

I was chained and unable to move even though I knew I had to get away.
"Welcome to your new home, Ariel," the woman said, her features twisted in a terrible smile. "You are here going to spend a lot of time.
I am Ariel and limited.
Neither knowing where I am nor how I got here. I most remember that nasty woman attacking me in the forest. I am now hooked to a bed in a pitch-black room. Though I try to fight, my wrists and ankles are too tightly bound. Knowing I am so powerless makes me start to lose it.
Footfall outside my room sounds odd. The door groans open, and the woman walks in. She is smiling even if it is not a friendly one. My spine shakes from this smile. "Good morning, Ariel," she says with a sarcastic voice. "I saw you getting up. That is amazing. We have enough to talk about.
I try to speak, but from yelling my voice is hoarse. She hands me a glass of water, and I slowly sip it.
"where is Lucas?" Demand, trying to keep my voice cool.
the woman laughs. Hey, Lucas. He is...inclined. Focus yourself on this rather than on him.
Though worthless, I try to fight one more. I am imprisoned.
The woman starts to round the room, her eyes never leaving mine. "You see, Ariel, you land in really a position. I will do anything necessary to have you; you have something I want." I shook my head to get the fog to clear. From me, what ought she to expect?
Suddenly the door opens and a man walks in. He towers blue-eyed and has a strong jawline. He looks familiar even if I can't name him.
