Chapter 624 Lamenting The Age Gap
Even though Skylar's period was late, she assumed it was because of the birth control pills. Giving
Hannah the side-eye, she retorted, “No way.”
Considering that Hannah didn't have any experience with pregnancy, her knowledge only came from
watching TV dramas. Even if Skylar was unexpectedly pregnant, she could empathize with her. After
all, it was difficult for Skylar to marry into a prominent family due to her family background.
Thus, the only way for her to maintain her relationship was to have a child who would allow her to
receive a handsome amount of child support. If that happened, she could enjoy herself in a villa and
not work another day in her life.
In fact, she might even get herself a boy toy and live out her days in bliss.
At that moment, Laurel pretended to ask innocently, “Skylar, do you have a boyfriend?”
In contrast to Hannah, Skylar hadn't spent enough time with Laurel to know her well enough.
Therefore, she closed her eyes without answering, for she was unsure if Laurel could be trusted.
When she fell in love last time, she couldn't resist announcing it to the world.
But now, she was like a thief, hiding her relationship for fear of others finding out. It was as if her
relationship with Tobias would never see the light of day.
Meanwhile, Laurel hated the feeling of being ignored. Any idiot could see that Skylar didn't treat her as
one of her own. Nevertheless, it wasn't unexpected because the young ladies in the entertainment
industry nowadays were especially Machiavellian.
Tobias returned home later than Skylar that evening. He then saw a cake on the table. It was a six-inch
matcha cake with a layer of crushed chocolate bits on top.
Lifting her heels, Skylar placed her hands on both his shoulders. “I've completed filming for my movie.
Hence, I bought a cake so both of us could celebrate.”
Even though Tobias never took any interest in desserts, he obliged Skylar by taking a small bite when
she fed him a piece.
Meanwhile, Skylar's phone rang incessantly, causing Tobias to sense the helplessness she felt. Finally,
she turned off her phone and kept it in her pocket instead.
Under normal circumstances, Skylar's phone would never leave her hand. Turning it off was even rarer.
Hence, Tobias suggested, “Why did you turn off your phone? If it's inconvenient for you to answer in
front of me, I can go upstairs.”
Skylar didn't understand why he answered in such a weird tone. He made it sound like she had
cheated on him and was being harassed at night by someone.
In truth, the ones who were calling her phone nonstop were her relatives. All of them were asking her NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
why she objected to the demolition of the old manor when she wasn't its owner and didn't care about
the compensation. Furthermore, her uncle and aunt were reliant on the compensation to turn their
current situation around. Thus, they reminded her not to be so selfish.
The moment Skylar heard the last sentence, she hated Eva's blabbermouth.
Tobias then ordered in a commanding tone. “Show me your phone. I want to see who is calling you.”
After that, Skylar could smell the scent of fresh tobacco, for Tobias had lit a cigarette in front of her. As
the cigarette smoke floated in the air, the silence in the air began to grow deafening.
Skylar questioned him, “Do you not trust me? You have never tried to check on me before.”
Tobias was unsettled by the complicated thoughts in his mind. The uncertainty that came with dating a
much younger girl had finally dawned upon him. Even though it wasn't obvious at first, he was
concerned that she would be sick of him ten years later. By then, he would lose his novelty and she
would get together with someone of her age. After all, he had given her more than enough money to
live comfortably for the rest of her life.
Since he was older than Skylar by twelve years, she would still be in her prime when he was forty.
