Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan)

Chapter 2057

Chapter 2057

Back in the day, Lambert had a sanctuary, a place that anchored him to this world. Every day, he would slip into the memorial chapel, sit quietly in the pews, and whisper his deepest thoughts to her memory.

But now, even that small comfort was slipping away. His heart belonged to a woman a world away, warming the bed of another man.

"Destiny plans these things for a reason," Estelle said, her voice a soothing balm. "It wants you to move on. Why fight it? Find a girl you like and settle down."

Lambert let out a self-deprecating chuckle. "Seems even less likely now!"

Estelle looked at him earnestly. "Think of me as a mismatch, totally not your type. That'll help you forget me faster." Lambert shot back, his voice raw with emotion, "But | like that you're not my type."

Estelle was speechless.

His resolve hardened. "If he ever lets you down, | swear I'll come for you. Wait for me."

“It won't happen!" Estelle declared with unwavering certainty. "| must be going now."

Lambert took a deep breath, the words heavy on his lips, "Safe travels."

With a slight nod, Estelle turned and walked towards Jonathan, who was waiting for her.

Lambert didn't follow. He just stood there, in the corridor, watching her retreating figure until she was swallowed by the distance, got into the car, and left his world behind.

He had been intrigued by Estelle from the moment he saw her take down a few thugs who were hassling Evelyn with such finesse. Maybe it was because she reminded him of Stella.

Both were bold and upright, cool on the outside but warm-hearted and pure within.

They even shared a love for sweets and chocolate.

Gradually, he fell for Estelle, never imagining that she and Stella were one and the same.

The realization filled him with joy, but it came with the bitter knowledge that she now loved another. These nights, he tossed and turned, riddled with regret.

He regretted not uncovering the truth behind Stella's disappearance. Had he followed her trail to C Country, they might have had a host of stories by now.

He remembered the first time he brought Estelle to the estate, into his study, where she stumbled upon Stella's photo. He was upset that she invaded his privacy, that she saw the secret he kept close to his chest.

Looking back, it seemed almost comical. What had she felt, seeing her own picture, hearing his words?

He wished he could hear her talk about it.

Alone, Lambert let his thoughts drift, imagining what could have been, his gaze lost on the horizon, a faint smile curling at the edge of his lips.

He would find her.

C Country was nothing; not even death could quench his ardor, let alone a mere geographical divide. Estelle and her companions boarded the helicopter bound for Velocity Vista.

She waved goodbye to her first friend since arriving at the Citadel.

"What is it?" Jonathan leaned over, curious.

By then, the watchtower was out of sight, nothing but the endless fields visible. Estelle just smiled. "Nothing!"
