Chapter 2161
Chapter 2161
Estelle said, "She's been discharged."
Before she could finish, she heard Jason's breath deepen. She chuckled and added, "Don't fret; Sophia's moved in with Old Mr. Quintin’s place. He’ll make sure she doesn't get sick like that again."
"Sophia's staying at Old Mr. Quintin's house?" Jason sounded a bit surprised.
"Yes!"
"Alright, I got it!" Jason said, and hung up the phone.
The fact that Sophia was staying with the Quintin family only heightened Jason's worries. He feared that Evelyn might spout nonsense about her.
Without hesitation, Jason hopped into his car and drove straight to the Quintin family residence.
At the Quintin's
Robin’d been keeping Sophia company upstairs when his phone buzzed. He took a glance; it was Diana.
There was nothing romantic or inappropriate between him and Diana. He’d crashed on the couch and she’d taken the bedroom the night before, without incident. They’d simply shared breakfast in the morning.
Still, he stepped out to take the call, "Diana, what's up?"
Diana's voice was frantic, "Robin, I'm at the supermarket across from the complex, and I've seen that man again. It looks like he's following me. What should I do?"
Robin frowned, "Don't worry; you're in a public place. He can't do anything to you there!"
"But I'm still scared. I don't dare go home!" Diana's voice trembled with fear.
Robin glanced towards Sophia's room and whispered, "Just wait there, I'll come to get you."
"Please hurry, Robin. I'll be waiting!"
"Okay."
After hanging up, Robin turned and went back inside, "Sophia!"
Sophia, feeling a little dizzy after her IV, was resting against the headboard. At the sound of his voice, she opened her eyes, "Robin, what's wrong?"
Robin hesitated before saying, "A client just called with some technical issues. I might have to swing by the office."
He convinced himself he wasn't lying to Sophia on purpose, merely sparing her any unnecessary worry. After all, girls tended to be sensitive; besides, there was nothing between him and Diana, and there was no need for misunderstandings.
Sophia wanted Robin to stay, but she suppressed her disappointment and feigned indifference, "Go ahead, don't worry about me. I'm at Old Mr. Quintin's home, and I'm being looked after."
"I was planning to be with you today, but the client is pressing, and I have no other way. I'll call you later." Robin took Sophia's hand, "Make sure you eat well and take your medicine. Get better soon."
"Okay." Sophia nodded obediently.
As Robin looked at Sophia's accommodating nature, a twinge of guilt passed through him. She was unwell yet not the least bit petulant, showing such consideration for him.All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
But the guilt was fleeting. Remembering Diana's nervous wait at the supermarket, he got up and left.
Downstairs, both Old Mr. Quintin and Old Mr. Jarvis were there; he said farewell to them.
Old Mr. Quintin said, "Sophia's not well. You've been a great help!"
Robin replied respectfully, "I'm Sophia's boyfriend. It's what I should do. Please, Mr. Quintin, don't mention it."
"You're leaving? It's almost lunchtime. Why don't you stay and eat?" Old Mr. Quintin offered.
"I really should, but there's an emergency at my company, and I need to deal with it. I appreciate you taking care of Sophia," Robin said with a polite bow.
Old Mr. Quintin nodded with a smile, "It's good for a young man to be committed to his career. Don't worry; Sophia grew up here. This is her home."
After thanking Old Mr. Quintin, Robin bid farewell to Mr. Jarvis and hurried off.
Old Mr. Quintin mused, "What do you think of that young man?"
Old Mr. Jarvis took a sip of his tea and said calmly, "Sophia is still sick. How pressing could his business be that he must attend to it personally?"
Old Mr. Quintin pondered, "Sophia says he's started his own business and works hard. It's good for the young to be diligent."
Old Mr. Jarvis just chuckled silently, letting the conversation drop.
