Chapter 893
Debra quickly formulated a plan and walked toward the champagne tower that Liza had knocked over earlier. When no one was looking, she bent down and used a shard of the broken glass to lightly cut her ankle.Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
"Ouch!" she grunted, drawing the attention of many guests.
Liza recognized the voice and turned to see Debra. Her eyes narrowed as she remembered how Debra had wronged Cathryn.
She marched over, ready to give Debra a piece of her mind. But just as she was about to strike, Bert shouted, "Liza, stop!"
Liza stomped her foot in frustration. "Dad. This woman stole Marion and made Cathryn a laughing stock. Why won't you let me hit her?"
"Enough," Bert said sternly. "Today has been chaotic enough, and your spoiled behavior needs to change. She is our guest, and she's injured because of your antics. If you hit her, people will say our family has no manners." With that, he approached Debra. She was taken aback, wondering what this notorious old fox was up to.
Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Bert bent down to examine Debra's ankle. "The injury isn't severe. It looks like you accidentally cut yourself. Come upstairs. I'll arrange a room for you to clean up the wound."
His stern expression had softened, and his eyes held a hint of kindness that surprised Debra.
Liza rushed over to him and huffed, "Dad, why are you being nice to her? Do you know what she..."
"That's enough. Don't make a scene and embarrass our family," Bert interjected.
He helped Debra up and instructed a nearby maid, "Take Mrs. Houston upstairs."
By addressing Debra like that, he was acknowledging her relationship with Marion. Debra remained cautious, unsure if his kindness was genuine or just an act. "Dad," Liza protested again.

Liza was unimpressed. Even if Drake bought her a grand estate, it wouldn't compare to their house.
"I'll let you off this time for my dad's sake, but next time I see you, I won't be so nice," Liza threatened before leaving.

events but relieved that she had avoided a confrontation with Liza and was temporarily under Bert's protection.
She wondered if he was being cautious because of Marion's influence. "Mrs. Houston, let me help you upstairs," the maid offered, gently assisting Debra.
As they headed upstairs, Debra glanced at Melody, who had been silently enduring the humiliation. Debra deliberately gave her a provocative look, which infuriated Melody even more.
Debra had thought Melody held significant importance in Bert's heart, but now she wasn't so sure.
