Chapter 11
Immediately, the crowd erupted in whispers.
I knew they hadn’t forgotten–they simply weren’t allowed to remember.
Once the new product was released, it would benefit all major hospitals, so Jackson couldn’t afford for anything to go wrong.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“Larissa, stop this. We’ll talk about it at home, okay? Be reasonable.”
Jackson moved closer, whispering in my ear.
I scoffed, snapping back to the present, and turned my gaze to the giant screen.
Jackson, today marks the day of your downfall.
On the screen, the components of Jackson’s new miracle drug were displayed, along with a comparison to the previous version.
There was nothing expensive in the formula, and the effectiveness hadn’t improved significantly–but the price had more than doubled.
The press, sensing a scandal, began snapping pictures furiously.
Jackson panicked and tried to signal the backstage team to shut off the screen.
I snapped my fingers, a cold smile on my face.
The screen now played a conversation between Jackson and his subordinates.
“Mr. Hart, the drug isn’t any better than before. Shouldn’t we wait for more research before launching?”
“What’s the problem? They’re just clueless sheep, ripe for the slaughter.“”
The room burst into chaos.
I clapped my hands, and the video continued to play.
It was security footage from the cemetery, showing Jackson and Elaine pushing me down the stairs.
The footage zoomed in on their actions, slowing down the moment I was shoved.
“You still owe me two lives.”
“I’m sorry! I was just impulsive back then. It was her–Elaine–she seduced me! I’ve changed now, I swear. I’ll never do it again.”
I yanked my hand out of Jackson’s grasp as more evidence played on the screen.
“You’re nothing but a murderer”
The scene descended into utter disarray, and moments later, the police arrived, taking Jackson into custody.
As he was about to be led away, I stepped forward and straightened his collar and the flower brooch on his chest.
“Today is Mona’s death anniversary. Can you still remember what she looked like?”
Looking down at his black suit, Jackson suddenly realized what was happening. He tried to kneel before me, but the officers dragged him away without mercy.
